Moza Racing have kindly provided me their R5 Bundle for review. This is my first race in iRacing wth the rim & DD wheelbase. A review video of the bundle will be coming in a couple of weeks after I have tested it.
From having been an Atari800xl(1983-isch)/Commodore Amiga500(1990-isch) and later a console (Ps1&2 Xbox,o.g. 360, and One-s)user playing race games have used a lot of different brands (from cheap non ffb to ffb Logitech mostly ) wheelsets, 8 months ago I finally went to PC and sim racing with a Moza r5 lincl. ite brake kit and it's absolutely worth every penny spent. I should have gone PC sooner, have fun on track.
Martin from the race here. Long time fan of your channel. Thought I would finally get a chance to race you Scott given I qualified right behind you. Wasn't to be! As you quite rightly pointed out the guy in front of me braked crazy early. Congrats on the P5. Hope to see you on track again this week.
Hey buddy! Ah yeah it was a shame. Not much you can do there other than what you did. I'll be racing plenty here this week so sure I'll see you on track again!
I recently got a R5 as well (£200 from CEX) insane upgrade from the thrustmaster t248 I had , does take a little while to dial in and get used to (formula rim is highly recommended)
I’ve got the r5, which is fine but now I’ve used it for a while I think the r9 would have been a bit better. R5 is still great though and you really can feel the difference from a belt or gear wheelbase. I’d recommend the formula wheel mod for the es wheel, it’s much lighter so you can feel way more of the feedback.
I got a CSL DD 2 years ago ( never had any not in stock issues, probably a miracle) coming from a belt drive, direct drive is so much more responsive and detailed. Although I still think pedals are preferable to upgrade first if you do not have load cells yet (Stuffey does have load cells I know). My Heusinkveld sprints I bought last year made a bigger impact than going from belt drive (a good one like the clubsport that is) to direct drive.
Hello Stuffeyy! What FFB settings should i use in my R5 for Iracing? I've been strugling a lot to find a good setting for Moza Pit and also inside Iracing, can you help me? 😅
Fantastic overtake around the outside. As much as it hurts me to say as a German, Silverstone is the best track for fast open wheelers in the world. Not a fan in GT cars or anything slower, but F2, SF, F1 etc is a blast, perfect mix of hotlapping fun and overtaking opportunities
@@stuffeyy Nürburgring and Hockenheim are some of my favorite tracks, Silverstone is just the pinnacle for open wheelers. Even F1 fails to have dull races there, that means a lot haha
Plenty of options now for mid range Direct Drives which is great. The Lewis picture is from a website called displate.com and the helmet of won as part of a sim racing racing event so not sure where you can get it from online
I do make.mention in the intro but I have a Fanatec ClubSport V2.5 wheel base. So belt driven, 8nm compared to the Moza R5 Direct Drive 5nm. Will ensure to compare when I do a dedicated review video
I currently use a thrustmaster t-150 and Fanatec CSL Elite pedals (non load cell) I've been considering the R5 bundle as my upgrade and I'm just wondering if the R5 provides anything superior to a wheel like mine besides the build quality... more feedback to your hands etc...
Amusing that fanatec used your video in one of their shorts and it didn't cross their mind to send you a wheelbase for free advertising 😂. Moza seem to be much more proactive - never tried their stuff but hear good things.
