Luke and I on a sneaky little dad sesh while the groms were at school.
Only had a few hours so we had to fish fast, tested out a few spots fishing around the close islands off Mackay. I had a few new toys to play with - the new Nomad Vertrex Swim 110 and a pe2 Cloud 9. Fished these with a 4k Shimano reel and pe2 Sunline Siglon ADV with 70lb System shock leader, was pretty ummm sporting, but would I do it again...YES
Also had a run with the new pe4 Cloud 9 from Oceans Legacy, got a beast cod on it but wasn't recording the fight... Dropped it back down on a release weight which is a handy little invention!!
Luke got a nice little GT on topwater and backed it up with a good Spanish Mackerel which ate on the rod tip.
All in all it was a pretty good session, none of our good spots fished well but we got quality fish just fishing pressure edges. Gotta improvise sometimes hey!!
