My thought was exactly the same as Black Swan, about the curve consuming the rest of the shadow from the sunglasses. I love your engagement in this case! Personally I have no doubt about what happened to these beautiful women, thanks to your hard work!

It definitely looks off but I’m no expert. However, I think the people in that village, where the girls were staying, know exactly what happened to them.

Good analysis in this video. I joined your FB group recently. No one has asked where Kris' distinctive red tip is. Also their dense bones like thigh or shin bikes have gone. There are other cases in America where walkers have gone missing for years or decades and their skeletons have been found. For those girls bones to disappear in such a short time.

I agree with you. All the shadows on your picture look so close except for the cast shadow of the sunglasses which don't show up on Kris. The edge of her shirt looks weird. On the other hand, it would be a strange thing to photoshop out. It would also be interesting to have someone stand next to you in Lisanne's place. I have some poseable figures I use for art reference, and I was unable to adjust them to get the exact form shadow on the left side of Lisanne's face. Either the form shadow goes all the way up the side of her head, or if I turn her head more to the right the shadow disappears. Interetesting.

She has clearly straightened her posture for the picture which moves your shoulders back and chest forth. With her chest pointing outwards it could definitely stretch and lift the fabric a bit and consume the shadow. And the neck line seam part of the shirt also seems fairly thick raising the shadow-part and the surrounding areas. More importantly I can't imagine anything that would need photoshopping of that size in that position. The genuine smiles and setting rule out injuries I think, especially ones from a third party. I commend the work however, spot on with the camera.

From my point of view the shadow of her face (sunglasses) is falling in her shirt...the shirt is (partly) a little bit away from her body. You can compare this with the wrinkles on your shirt...the shadow looks more or less cut off along the wrinkles...could this be the explanation for the shadow on her chest?

Those are some marvellous observations. Furthermore, I think the bridge of Kris's sunglasses look wrong. Also, can you see a vehicle reflected in her lenses?

Time of day, time of year, latitude and longitude would all play a part in determining where the sun was located. I agree that an hours difference may be impossible to detect. This is where you need expert opinions and then they'd still be opinions.

Dude I'm sorry for ripping into you that one time about the shadows etc. I feel bad about that and you didn't deserve it. Your passion and professionalism for the case is to be admired and you have the balls to work out your theories publicly, opening the gates to all the trolls and haters and people like me, who were just triggered and being a pissbaby. Please forgive me. Having said all that I have a theory that most people aren't going to like because it doesn't explain the missing photo, and it doesn't involve any direct foul play. I state for the record that I have no knowledge of this case that isn't publicly available, I have no connection to anyone involved. I will also preface that I've followed and studied this case for hundreds if not over 1000 hours. Consider that Lisanne is athletic and Kris is sedentary, and the obvious lack of preparation regarding water, hats etc. Consider the declining cheer in Kris' face as the daytime pictures progress, and the distance between the women increased as well. Consider that this was a walk in the park for Lisanne and became a frustrating, exhausting journey for Kris. It came to me like an epiphany that nobody seems to mention the volatility of this dynamic - what if the girls got into an argument/fight and Kris, exhausted stormed off in a huff. Perhaps they went separate ways or perhaps Lisanne stayed put while Kris stormed off. Perhaps after an appropriate time Lisanne went to look for Kris and found her injured from a slip, trip, fall, or other (non foul-play) injury. Perhaps this was 3 hours after picture 508 was taken, the moment of the first 911 calls. Perhaps Kris was gravely injured and unconscious, and down a ravine or some other place that Lisanne could call to but not get to right away. She shouted for Kris to call 112, as she did the same. And once Lisanne got to her there was no thought of cell phone batteries, or getting Kris' phone code perhaps it was a great effort to sustain Kris' life. Perhaps Kris was not stable enough that Lisanne could go seek help, and wherever the nigh photos were taken days later is where they were the whole time, on the shore of what was a creek or a stream, but would swiftly become a river frequently. Perhaps they drank the water which is relatively safe for locals but their guts were not accustom to the bacteria and both became ill. Perhaps Lisanne would occasionally venture off looking for cell phone signal, help or sundry, while Kris barely held on to life and that explains how both phones were used for emergency calls without Lisanne ever learning the code. Perhaps on day 5 Kris perished, either in Lisannes arms or while she was away. Perhaps this caused Lisanne to have a psychotic break and go catatonic or otherwise demented with "shellshock" (of sorts), this explains the 77 calls for help and the strange night photos. Perhaps Lisanne put Kris in the stream, or perhaps both girls were washed away after Lisanne perished from malnutrition or disease. Perhaps due to their different bodies they got swept to different spots. this is why one got their bones bleached and the other was consumed entirely by animals, save for one foot which may have disarticulated or simply been discarded by a carnivore. The backpack is hard to explain this way. The missing photo is impossible to explain this way, but that could simply be negligence or accident on the part of law enforcement of the developing country. I believe in my heart there was no dog with them at all, and certainly was not with them by the time they began taking pictures. That's a gorgeous dog and they would have got a photo of him. I believe in my heart that Kris did not actually have asthma, there's no evidence of this. I think its a mistranslation or an assumption that's been "telephone gamed" which was originally a comment on her overall lack of physical fitness/endurance/stamina or otherwise it was to say that she was more affected by altitude than Lisanne, or the average tourist. The guide, in my theory today is not a bad man. He may have been the only person to report them missing and him finding the bodies is simply his expertise on the area, and the behavior of tourists, females, novice hikers etc. For the record I am not claiming this IS what happened, I am simply stating something that came to me last night. I open myself to all forms of criticism, and opinions. Thank you for reading this far.

hey, thanks so much for your research. I'm torn between the theory of the girls being murdered and the dog theory. Essentially, the dog theory is that the dog, who is for whatever reason, not present in any of the wilderness photos, went off the trail at some point. The girls originally tried calling him and continued on with the hike, taking the other pictures as they went. They gradually became more concerned about the dog and tried going off the trail to find him. Leading to what we all know was their demise. When it was presented to me, It sounded quite believable because if I was in that situation I would most likely do the same thing. However, there's also all these strange circumstances around the case that seem to suggest that whatever happened to these girls isnt as simple as the dog running off the trail. this is where I'm conflicted, I do believe the majority of the evidence you've presented as true, but this other theory is my second guess, is a good way of putting it. If they weren't murdered, the dog theory would be my first guess. do you have any information to disprove this dog idea once and for all?

Time of day can be estimated by comparing the shadow of the fence posts to the height of the fence posts

Backpackercoach, I want you to review photo 505, the photo where Kriss has her legs in profile and her torso and head turned forward. His trunk and head are slightly tilted forward. There are 2 ways to read the position of his arms and hands: the first is that his hands are tied behind. The second is that his right hand is over his right ear, trying to hear or understand what the cameraman is saying. In both cases, Kriss is photographed in surprise or not having time to strike a pose. It is a natural photo. Her face does not express any feeling of joy, which is expected when someone wants to record a good memory in a photo. I see in the background, at the height of Kriss's buttocks, a man with a top hat, a trench coat and a shotgun or rifle on her arms. Was the cameraman warning Kriss of something going on behind her back?

Different head shapes/sizes and her sunglasses have a bigger lens frame could account for the different sunglasses shadows. Interesting video nonetheless

I agree with you at few points, and disagree with you on other points. First of all, what i agree with you: I agree with you - that the one commentator was wrong, that from the lightspot on the forehead alone ''its possible to tell which time it was in the picture'' ... It is indeed roughly possible to tell if someone has additional information. That commentator didnt had enough knowledge about sunclocks - otherwise he would have known: that its important to know were exactly south is (usually other information is also needed , for instance: geographical longitude) .. meaning: you have to know the exact geographical position of that location, and know where at this location is south (because south is were the sun stands at noon) . But there additional problems which needs to solved and corrected : first of all: even if you would do that what i wrote correct, and had that additional information, and assuming you can calculate correctly (thats not easy - you have to know a lot of math , espescially trigonometry) - you face another problem : all of that only fits, IF the skull of Kris is a perfect sphere (which for sure isnt). Its roughly an ellipsoid, which makes it even harder (for instance if Kris forehead would be flat like a mirror, the sun very likely not even would have a reflection on that "mirror" , but it would reflect the landscape and sky). Only because its a curved geometry (like a spherical mirror (fisheye) ), the geometry can catch more of the surroundings , including the sun, which in panama at noon gets 82 degree high (which is only 8 degree off from totally top ..because Panama is on the 8 degree latitude), and therefore the sun reflects on the forehead. Now even if the commentator got this all right - knowing where the location was - and where at that location south is, and was able to do all the calculations and math, inclucing math about curved geometries (differential equations), which i highly doubt ! Even than, he could easy forget : to think about the summertime. Panama doesnt have summertime. But the camera probably sets summertime automatically - so that can easily lead to a 1 hour deviation from ''his'' calculations, from the camera. I dont have the exif data of the original fotos of the girls, so i dont know what the time says on it. But i saw police report screenshots about the list of the fotos taking with the camera, and the dates of the camera showed 2013 as year, and not 2014. Also the experts in Panama actually needed to calculate the real times, because the camera, as far i know was set at Greenwich-Mean-Time, and not at Eastern Standard Time. ... So you see, thats a lot of confusion, which makes it very hard for someone, who trys to recreate the right time on the photo correct and compare it with the corrected times the police in Panama give. In my conclusion: i highly doubt the commentator thought about all those details. Now there are for sure shortcuts of my explaination above. I myself could save a lot of calculation, by using a render engine, point the sun in the right spot, and use a 3d-skull and see where the sun hits it. But even for that, i need geo-location-data, where exactly the girls were when they took this foto - to see were exactly south is. Because i am quiet sure, its everything ok with that foto, i will not do that efford, just to prove a point to some nobody in the internet who loves wild theories. For him its no efford, to throw assumptions... but for me it would be a hell of an efford, to prove him wrong with math, render engines, etc - so i save my time. Now to the point i disagree with you. You are doubtful about the shadow of the sunglasses. There is no reason for it. Yes, i got it : the shadow of your sun glasses is different. And therefore you think: if its not a perfect fit, its fishy ... and with ''fit to theory''-mindset you also see the zoom of the picture of the girl ''yes that line there doesnt look real'' ... But if you build up your theories you have to make the biggest efford (which for all of us is hard) : to truly, and really (!) honestly try to disprove your theory ''what speaks against it'' , and not search for ''what supports my theory'' (because thats always the most easy part in every theory... even in flat-earth-theories). Whats an important difference is: you are not a woman - espescially not Kris Kremer - which means: you dont have big breasts like her. This is a huge impact in geometry, how the shadow falls or ''gets thinner'' in that angle. Also her body is more rotated than yours, while her face (like yours) is facing the camera. But her face is also a bit more tilted to the left than yours (around 1-2 degrees) also her sunglasses are much more pushed towards her face than yours (as you even admit, when you speak about your cheeks and her cheeks under the sunglasses)... Also its almost the same sunglasses but not exactly the same sunglasses (yes i know, that alone is a small difference) ...but all of that add together (the biggest factor is her breasts, which begin to come out where the shadow of the sunglasses would occur... that alters the shadow mostly... all other effects i told , add up ) ... So in conclusion - i am sure there is nothing wrong with that picture.

Obviously kris has the camera in this shot. Now, I can understand lisanne having a reflection of kris's arm in her sunglasses because there is 2 people in the shot. But what I dont understand is, in your picture and in your sunglasses I can clearly see one arm but in kris's sunglasses I see 2 arms ??? And kris is holding the camera. So can you explain to me the difference of you and kris holding the camera and why you have one arm and kris has 2 arms?????

Take away the photo shopped photos and their timeline and the photo of the waterfalls which may not be them then the witnesses make sense. They would have likely been kidnapped or picked up around 4-430pm. Wasnt there a witness that saw them get into a red truck? If so does it fit the timeline ???? 🤔
