Kevin, what’s the camera that you have and how is it positioned when you are sitting straight and looking at the monitor? I can see that you are still looking into the camera. Where do you have it mounted? Thank you.
The camera on my desk is a Canon M6 Mark II with a Sigma 16mm lens. For this video I was playing with a Viltrox 23mm lens. Camera is on a Small Rig desk mount, which in this video I had to the side. Now I have it over my monitor.
Hi Kevin. Having found and subscribed to your channel yesterday, I am now enjoying more of your tips and tricks down here in the South of France. Out of interest, why don't you every film outside? I'm soooooo tempted by the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo as it's so discrete and packable but it's quite an investment for me. Also what tripod would you use outside? An octopus type or ...... ?
For me right now, it's easier to shoot in my office. As far as tripods, here's a list of most of my gear including tripods (way too many but some good ones there): amzn.to/3LlRdoH
Great video! I’m trying to setup something like this for my review and unboxing videos. Do you have a long cable for the osmo pocket 3? I want to do a front facing cam and an overhead with the osmo pocket
Appreciate that. I'm planning on trying it for different set-ups too like an overhead camera. Regarding the cable. The one it comes with is really short. Since it takes a USB-C cable I just grabbed another one I have, which is longer, and used it. My gut is you could probably grab one off Amazon.
@@KevinKolbe does it need to just be a cable that has data transfer or something specific? Thanks for the reply. And the voiceover was pretty hilarious. Keep up the great work.
I have dji action cam 4 and got the DJI mic before I got the streamer x, you can plug in the DJI receiver with an XLR adapter, but could also get just a single rode transmitter to pair with the X
Oops...pressed 'thumbs down by mistake' and then pressed thumbs up but it won't count. Finger trouble. But a very interesting video. I've been looking at the Streamer X and wondering whether to buy or not. Your review (still watching) is very useful.
@@KevinKolbe perfect! just the answer I was looking for. I was debating whether I should buy the rodecaster video... I think it is too much of an investment for me... I can get away with the streamer for now... great video BTW
Appreciate it. Yeah the Rodecaster Video does look cool but WOAH the price! The Rode StreamerX is fine but can be quirky at times. Make sure you do all the updates!
I've had nothing but problems with the Streamer X when it comes to video. Among other things changes fps, cannot deliver 4k in Quicktime on M1 Mac Mini, buggy Unify software. Have to restart constantly, settings disappear. Had no problems with the Elgato Cam Link 4K. Røde support has not been of much help, promises and promises but nothing happens. Have lots of Røde products, but this is an alpha product that was sent to the market way too early.
This is the second one I've tried. Think I mentioned in the video the first one kept interfering with my keyboard and I never found a workaround. Decided to give it another shot. So far so good but haven't tired the QT recording. Thanks for sharing!
Wanted to circle back with an update. I just did a test recording in Ecamm, StreamYard, OBS, Tella, and Quicktime. The only one that crapped out was QuickTime. For some reason half way through it slowed down the video/audio then sped back up again. All the others I listed looked and sounded great!
@@KevinKolbe Thanks for reply :) Same experience, plus you can't record in 4k in QT. I've never had the problem with the Elgato Cam Link 4K, so it's definitely a Røde problem. A problem that can and should be solved. 3 months since I started a support case with them... :)
Yeah, my Cam Link has been solid but I wanted to see if I could streamline it all. For me since I have so many recording options, including in-camera, I'm okay if QT doesn't work well. Bummer that Rode can't help you.
