Jeremiah is a great communicator, and his VLOG is visually excellent on the Ruger SR22. The reassembly of the slide is tricky on the first time, but manageable. The safety features are complex but offer peace of mind for the new shooters and security for those who live in the big Cities. I look forward to seeing more gun reviews.

I appreciate the kind words the visuals are all on the camera man, Chris Downs and his excellent editing skills. He is a master with a camera! The reassembly is tricky but I agree it's not complex. I think you hit the nail on the head this would be an excellent gun for a new shooter and it will eventually leave you wanting more, weather that is accuracy or a better trigger etc. We appreciate the feedback and we really should consider doing some more gun review type videos, the load development videos are almost a review but a little different with a split focus on the gun and the handloading. Thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment it is appreciated! --Jeremiah

The SR22 is a fun little pistol with a big boy look. That's the appeal and that's what it's good at. Mediocre trigger, modestly accurate with it's favorite rounds, and a fun, gateway 22 for new shooters. The early guns had a problem with the take-down tab and would try to buck the slide off the frame during recoil. Mine did. Ruger took care of the problem in their typical reliable fashion and an ex-gf still owns and shoots the gun quite happily today. My own thoughts evolved into "it's not powerful so it had better be accurate". I'm glad I owned one, I'm glad someone else does now and, I'm glad I've got a Volquartsen. Great content, as always, and don't be afraid to make longer episodes if you feel it's needed to do a subject justice. I'm happy to watch and I promise that my responses won't get longer if the video does.

I agree in full with that I try not to come off with any bias or anything and present everything as matter of fact as possible but to be honest It seems like a lesser Walther P-22 and I really do not like all the safeties and the inability to carry it "cocked and locked". I think it is a good gateway gun and it is reliable and a lot of fun to shoot but it will leave you wanting more. I am a sucker for accuracy, probably more so than I should be but I like accurate guns. I am a huge fan of Volquartsen I think they make excellent products and they are quite accurate in my experience. Glad to hear that you enjoyed this video as well I know it is a little different than our normal episodes so the feedback is always appreciated! I try to be quick and to the point in the videos and minimize my rambling but that said we always give enough time to cover everything in detail but we try to keep the videos easy to watch and easy to find segments as well. thank you for your support and the kind words they are greatly appreciated! --Jeremiah

The De-Cocker is nice, esp if you carry this platform and I have (10+1). In de-cock mode, the trigger pull is the safety after you de-cock the pistol and return the safety UP, and has a Firing-pin block. The size of my G26 but single stack and much lighter. RELIABLE it is with quality ammo and with DOUBLE-STRIKE ability for those hard cases. When I first got this platform it shot extremely Low and had to raise the rear sight so HI I almost loss the rear sight spring. Replaced the front post with a HIVIS Fiber optic and solved the problem. Painted the rear dots RED (swap rear blade around for blacken) and a steel captive guide-rod improved the accuracy. Great platform. The magazine safety IS, in some states, is a requirement so don’t blame RUGER for it. The manual safety, not a 1911, is usable with little practice. Would have liked more magazine count, but again some states make things difficult.
@HandloaderTV
@HandloaderTV 2 года назад
I do agree with you the de-cocker is a very nice feature. I know a guy that carries one when he goes out walking in case he runs just in case he encounters a rattlesnake or something like that and I think that makes a lot of sense. Ammo is certainly a key consideration when it comes to reliability. Those HIVIS fiber optic sights are very nice I like those a lot. This is just my opinion as in the video it's a personal preference and I know some states have quite restrictive gun laws. However I do not want Ruger to cater to those few states when there are 40+ others that it doesn't matter in. I would much rather see a California compliant model such as other manufacturers have done. I know they call it a manual safety however, in my opinion a manual safety does not de-cock the firearm it in fact prevents the firearm from firing. I think when most people hear manual safety they think of the 1911 manual safety. I am not saying it is not usable or anything like that but rather that it is different than what most people think. Or at the very least different than what I was thinking. I see it more as a de-cocker and firing pin block than a manual safety. But that may just be me. At any rate I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment and share your personal experience here in the comments section I think that is what it is all about. --Jeremiah

Good Video..2 things 1 I had 1 of the 1st to come out..I never had an issue with mine on being ammo picky..any issues which they weren't many..was the ammo itself. 2 the M22 has been very good for me..I am wondering if that was one of the bad lot they had.?
@HandloaderTV
@HandloaderTV 2 года назад
Thank you for the feedback we greatly appreciate it! As stated in the video at 30:04 I have only heard reports of it being picky we ourselves did not experience that, when we did experience issues it was mostly ammunition related as well in once instance I can recall it may have been me "limping" the gun. I tried not to be too hard on it, I do not like the fact that they call the decocker a manual safety I don't think that is what most people think of when they hear manual safety. So I did harp on that and the magazine safety a lot perhaps more than I should have. We do our best to simply let the results speak for themselves and provide an unbiased baseline for performance and accuracy with a hint of my personal thoughts on the firearm. All in all though I did not think the performance was too bad for a rimfire handgun at 15 yards. Sadly with all of these videos they are only a sample size of one so we very well could have gotten a less accurate one or one that was a little more finicky than others anything is possible. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment we really appreciate it and I personally love hearing from others who have these firearms and have conducted testing and have experience with them. I feel it adds a lot of value hearing from others in the comments, so thank you for continuing to do so! --Jeremiah

I’ve had one for a while. Very accurate with the thread protector on. Once I put the thread adapter on the POI changes drastically. It’s also the same when I put the suppressor on. It goes high and to the left or right, I don’t remember. Anyone else experience this issue with their sr22?
@HandloaderTV
@HandloaderTV 2 года назад
In our testing we ran the barrel with the thread protector on and no suppressor adapter on and then we ran it with the thread adapter on with the suppressor on and you can see for yourself in the target review the accuracy difference along with the point of impact shift with the thread protector on vs. the suppressor. There is some shift and in our testing it seems different ammunition can make a big difference in the amount of shift. I hope that helps and wish you the best of shooting! hello there, pls allow me this question: what´s with the magazine safety when one inserts the magazine into the gun, pulls the slide back and loads a bullet into the chamber, then ejects the magazine - is the trigger deactivated then? and my second question: is the reason this safety even exists the fact that people forget the loaded bullet in the gun? thanks in advance.
@HandloaderTV
@HandloaderTV Месяц назад
Great question, you are correct when the magazine is not inserted into the gun the firearm will not fire. I guess that is the thinking behind the magazine safety but to be honest if you follow the 4 rules of firearms safety it just makes the magazine safety defunct and I don't believe we should build firearms around negligence but rather practicality and it is for that reason I do not personally like magazine safeties. Plus if you are mid magazine change and attempting to "top off" the gun and need to fire it for some reason you can not with the magazine safety which is another reason I do not like them. Great question thank you for watching! --Jeremiah

This was an interesting video about a pistol that I was curious about its features. Ruger seems to have overly complicated the engineering of its recent firearms. I see absolutely no need for a magazine safety or a fixed barrel. This gun does not seem to be particularly accurate, nor do the various combinations of ammunition reflect tight groupings. Since the focus of this video was keyed into the pistol itself and not a detachable suppressor, while that is interesting, your video should have focused only on the handgun without the suppressor since the suppressor not only does not come with the gun but using a suppressor changes point of impact and moreover not everyone will use a suppressor. I had a suppressed Ruger Mark II that was extremely accurate such that hitting a 4 inch x 6 inch index card, shooting offhand was doable at 100 yards. Ruger needs to go back to the drawing board and make some changes to the SR 22 and take away some so called safety features and make it far more simplistic . Your video was well done.

We are very glad that you enjoyed the video and found it informative as well! I have to agree with you there, I always try to present the firearms in a matter of fact way and without any bias and present the facts. I also agree in my opinion the accuracy was a bit lacking. I suppose we could have cut all the suppressor content but we thought we might as well include it since many folks also are looking for good guns to be suppressed. We did shoot it both suppressed and unsuppressed so folks could focus or compare whatever they like. When we reviewed the targets we were sure to show both the suppressed groups and the unsuppressed groups. I am a big fan of the Ruger Mark II those are great guns! I think you misunderstand the purpose of this video, the sights were not adjusted to showcase the factory zero the gun had and to keep consistent point of aim and point of impact across multiple ammunition types. The accuracy testing is showcased by the size of the group and not where the group impacted that can be adjusted later on to whichever ammo works the best and is the most accurate in the testing. The sights were also not adjusted to showcase the difference in point of impact with the suppressor vs. without.
