I use reusable metal straws and the pipe cleaner works fine with them. you air dry them standing up and since it's metal, you don't have to worry about mold. been the best for me.

I bought metal straws but had to regift them because I’m not able to get over the metallic taste! Womp. Bamboo straws are my favorite, but they’re the most prone to molding :(

I use glass because I'm allergic to mold, so the added benefit of transparency is a must for me ❤ after I'm done washing with a straw brush I put it in a cup with a paper towel/cotton pad at the bottom 😊

There are these silicone ones i have called Squeaky Clean Straw & they don’t have the weird silicone taste. They do the same thing but they are softish so they kind of zip together with a little lip, and are really easy to clean because of the material, i haven’t had any issues with them so far :)

BobaTribe is a companu that did something similar before this (Obviously for boba) They made the design the same, except it's silicone, so not only can it seal up and be used as a straw, but the silicone is soft and can be rolled up and stored for travel. You can take it anywhere with you.

As someone who grew up in a household where even plastic non-reusable straws were cleaned and reused...well, we would rinse them with soapy water, then clean water, and then dry them at an angle, so that any water on the inside would slowly flow down or evaporate. Never had a problem and never had any gunk or mold. They would get ditched after 3-4 uses though, because they'd usually get disfigured and just untidy enough, but still, never had any issues. That said, the only thing we drank through straws were water, tea, juice and soda, I also never drank any juice with pulp in it because I couldn't, and the straws would get a rinse immediately
@dragon_toad

We did the same, except we only used them for juice and soda. Even before we invested in a pipe cleaner brush we could make a single "non-reusable" plastic straw last a few months.
