Still a valid video. Thanks, it was very helpful. I just purchased a truck with one of these in it and this helped me understand the manufacturers directions better.
Had to look twice but it seems by color code, the black wire is to ground and the white wire to B+ positive. Electrons do not know the difference however standardization of color codes helps.
If you are able to help I’m just using a volt meter instead of a light. With a car battery hooked to the black and white wires the blue wire has 12v Without touching anything on the controller. Bad controller? I’m testing it because I had 12v at my brake pin on the truck with no brakes being pushed. Thanks for the great video!
I think I remember doing the same, and if I remember correctly the manufacturer said that was normal as it will have voltage to it but the amperage is almost nothing. You might have to try it with a load?
I just installed a "curt" on my truck. Took my time went very slowly. Now when I hit the brakes it blinks red indicating a possible short it says. This is pretty basic stuff - could the unit be damaged? Mine will not do what yours is showing. Black to power - white to ground - red to brake light switch - blue to trailer. hmm..
Hmm, did you try bench testing it like this? And just to be sure, red should get B+ on the red wire for the brakes being applied... Did you check the wiring on the vehicles side with a voltmeter? Those two should narrow it down whether it's the controller or the vehicle's wiring...
When I hook it up with my trailer and apply the brakes ,the brake unit shows 00 and when I try and adjust it, nothing happens. Do you know whats wrong with it?
