I saw these interesting items at a camping show and had to pick them up. First there's pocket "bellows" from EOG and basically giant matches from Diamond. Are they gimmicks, useful, or somewhere in between? The results surprised me so they may surprise you too.

I carry alcohol for my homemade stove, so I have a great fire starter on hand in case of emergencies. I actually made a pocket bellows from an antenna that I removed from a junk portable radio. My trail name is Tinker. Btw, Vaseline works great on most cotton fabrics, and you can get a longer burn time.

Fat rope is an amazing fire starter that's very light and stable and can be ignited with a ferorod
