I’ve gotta say, you have taught me everything I’ve learned about airbrushing the past month or two, went from knowing absolutely nothing to feeling confident with an airbrush in my hands, such a massive thanks for what you do.
What I liked the most is not only the fact that you're giving the whole set away, but the fact that you even decided to fill the gaps with your own budget, you didn't had to, and yet you did, that speaks highly of you as a person mate.
Game Air has the perfect set of colors for the style of hobby crafting we do in our home. This is a gem of a set. And you even topped it off with extra. Someone will be very fortunate. Very nice things you are doing to support this craft. 👏
For someone who is just getting back into modelling ,Your chanel has given me so much information and I'm not sure if you realise how much you're appreciated. I'm disabled and have little spare money to dedicate to my hobby,so Your money saving tips and advice are a godsend. You have to many fans for your chanel to fail ! . Keep up the good work. 👍
Dude Rex, why are you so good to us!?! You put a lot of work into these videos and then give away your commission? You truly are a rare unicorn in the RU-vid universe. Thank you for everything!!!
I have been away from the hobby of models, miniatures & painting for close to 30 years. I didn't realize how much I missed in that time away. Lately, I've been looking for videos and such on all aspects of getting back into it. My wife is even excited about trying her hand at some of this! I really enjoy your very thorough treatment of paints and equipment. You are one of the few folks I have found that gives a very In-Depth test and evaluation and I cannot thank you enough for doing it. Your videos allow me to make a more informed choice when it comes to paints. I have to also say that some of the paints being used are 'old friends' and a few of them are 'old unavailables' to me from back in the early 70's when I first really got deep into models, dioramas and painting. So having your videos available to see who's got what and how well do they work has been very informative. (the old 'unavailables' were the 'good' paints I simply couldn't afford as a kid back in the 70's) Thanks again for the effort you put out. Looking forward to the new paint booth. I wouldn't mind seeing a few more videos on brush applied paints as well, even though I really like the airbrush, I'm primarily a 'paint by brush' guy when it comes to my painting as I tend to do very small items in great detail.
You can absolutely airbrush Vallejo Model Color paints. They just need to be thinned to a swishable skim milk consistency with Vallejo's airbrush thinner (roughly 50/50) and a couple drops of their flow improver. The bottles need to be mixed and shaken very well before use though. I do it all the time and when you thin them a bottle can last a long while for many kits.
Well done as always, as someone who is snowed under with a necron and ork army to paint, having a huge collection of Vallejo airbrush paint would be 10000000 times better than thinning a hodge podge of citadel and army painter paints
The Vallejo Game Air range has been on my wish list for several years. It's the perfect fit for someone who primarily paints fantasy miniatures (and terrain), like I do. Especially those of us who have grown up with the more vibrant paint schemes from the late 80's and through the 90's. They do make the minis pop more on any table, whether for wargaming, board games or roleplaying games. Thanks for showcasing/testing so many brands, tools and paint ranges. You also have me convinced to get the Badger 105 Patriot for my next airbrush, once I have the funds. 😁
I'm always amazed by how much paints, cans, and kits of all kind!! Still kinda new to the channel, but the information you provide is addicting!! It allows me to have more confidence in my builds. Side note I had the pleasure to visit the Gundam Base in Korea and Tamiya HQ. Anyone who's a big Gundam fanatic like I am. You'll go WILD!!! Like always thanks Rex for all your help buddy
@@barbatosrex9473 sadly I was on a time crunch, but I was able to pick up a couple MGs. One of my favorites - its a must to build Eclipse Gundam. It's a Freedom Gundam mix with a racing enthusiasts in mind mind. Rex you give little to no room for error when it comes to noobies in the hobby/gunpla world!! 💯
Bit late to modeling party but you and your videos have been my go to source for slowly putting together a gunpla area for my 6yr old son and I over the past few weeks. I also really enjoy your style of videos. It's more like your trying to explain to friends then it is just putting content for views out there. Thanks!
I do have to say, I love when someone takes their RU-vid and starts their passion business. Looking forward to more testing and love the colors of your paint line.
In the last 6 months I've gotten into 3d printing and painting tabletop. Your videos have really taught me so much. Keep up the great work and thank you
Hey rex, I just dicovered your channel half a year ago and you broke my fear of getting an airbrush.I bougyt a cheap one recently, it works fine for the price but i havent been able to decide what paint to buy so what paint brand do you recommend for an absolute beginner? Preferably acrylics cause i dont have a respirator.
Listen my brother - I don't know how you do it. Keep me fascinated painting spoons but you do. Must be your voice or the interesting way you talk to us like we are standing right next to you. From my point of view its a real talent. Thanks for all the $ saving tips and demos. You are a great friend of the hobby - truly!
I've watched and learned so much from your videos. I stopped airbrushing because I was so frustrated with the airbrush jamming all the time. Now I'm back to painting my cars and having fun. Thanks so much.
I have this strange habit. If I'm buying gatorade for instance, I have to buy every single different flavor on the shelf. The same goes with all different kinds and colors on many products. Your stash to me is like heaven. So watching your videos is almost like a therapy for me so that I don't have to go purchase all that stuff myself lol. You save me the pain and money so that I only buy the good stuff and stuff that I actually need. Thank you for your contributions to the modelling community.
I watch all your videos. I just returned to the hobby after 50 years! You've taught me alot. MCW hobby store is about 20 miles from me. I'll be visiting there soon! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for sharing your passion. In the last couple of years I've started back into model building after more than a 40 year layover. I've in the last two years purchased a Pasche H and this last week I picked up a Badger Patriot 105. Through your instructions on how to care for and utilize their potential has allowed me to undertake a new skill set in my hobby. Many Thanks!!!
I paint Games Workshop miniatures and have never tried the Game Air line. They really are some nice looking paints. I appreciate your generosity. Good luck to all!
I picked up some small cheap ready to use bottles of paint off Amazon to get started a while back and it has surprisingly lasted me quite a while. My father got me into airbrushing fishing lures as a side project to pass my time, stay at home Dad here, and the amount of colors out there are crazy. Luckily RU-vid helps pass the time as well lol. This is one channel that I actually watch all the way through without skipping. I'd also like to add, interesting taste in music Barbatos Rex. I remember getting hooked on a group called POWERMAD back in the day when I was 9 believe it or not. The Madness Begins was the first "cassette" I owned and still have somewhere.
Since I'm starting to get back into model building (last model I built I was in Junior High school 40+ years ago). I've watched almost all of your videos in the last month. Now I want an airbrush and need to get new paint too. I have enjoyed your instructional videos. Keep them coming!
I'm really thankful for discovering your channel my guy. It's taught me how to use all kinds of supplies, paints and tools that i can commonly get without putting a hole in my wallet. Not to mention teaching proper techniques for painting and airbrushing. If not for your channel i would have put of customizing model kits and gunpla for a long time. Keep up the good work :)
Thanks for doing all these paint tests. They're very informative for the weekend hobbyists who have limited resources (and no sponsors like the high-end RU-vidrs) to make informed choices in buying paint. 👍🏻 I started getting into the Model Air and Game Air lines because they work well with the airbrush and are easy to clean up.
Thanks for being there. I have watched many of your videos. Basically taught me how to air brush. I've only been painting for two months, your videos have been invaluable to my education. Thanks!
That is one beautiful case for sure and didn’t know they had some paints airbrush ready. Thank you for going over all the different colors and adding more to the case. Just amazing!!!
Found your channel after getting back into the mini hobby. Enjoy the vids and the info! Nice to see reviews on all kind of of paint shot through an air brush.
I love Vallejo Model Air paints. I've never had an issue spraying them. The trick is, and I got this from Vallejo's YT channel, is to put in drop of Flow Improver in the bottom of your cup , then add your color. Works great to reduce tip drying for long painting sessions. I've thinned the Model Color and have had success with them, but I haven't bought any of their Game Air, yet. Also, hot water is da bomb to clean between and full clean your airbrush (learned that from you in previous vids). I have a squeeze bottle full of hot water I keep on an insulted cup of scalding hot water to rinse the acrylics out, then follow up with your blend of AB cleaner. Thank you for showing these tips and tricks and I look forward to more of your vids. Keep up the great work!
Haven't gotten into airbrushing just yet, but I watch your videos to try and get a handle on it when I do eventually get an airbrush of my own. Thanks for all the work you do!
You are always such a generous person with your giveaways, and such a great ambassador for the hobby. I have learned so much from this channel as well not to be close minded to what type of paints to use. Stay metal.
Long time watcher, first time posting. Vallejo Air and Model colors are great! Cannot say enough good about them. While we do use other brands, Vallejo just rocks across a wide range of applications. We (my son and I) shoot both Model & Air; some paints are extended/diluted depending on airbrush/color[pigmentation density]/needle size. Started with Model Color back when selections in Air was extremely limited & few and far between. Hmm, actually I think Air was a pipe dream when we started using Vallejo 🤔 In our shop, .5 is pretty big. We run .15s, .2s & 4s in the H&Ss, .35 (std) in the HP-CSs (these are our workhorses), .3s in the CHs and a .4 in the M2. The M2 is great for priming & basecoating. It gets used a lot since while we model in 28m, 1/35, 1/350 & 1/6th - we do mostly 1/22.5; think models measured in feet not inches, say like 8.5 ft long. YMMV on the following. We used to mix In the brush cup and and back blow for mixing and cleaning (H&S even sells a cap for this). We stopped that practice and now mix either in a bottle or mixing pans (the small Japanese ones). The reason being I was seeing a lot of leakage back through seals, primarily on the Iwatas, even new airbrushes, after back blowing had been done a few dozen times. Haven’t seen it on the H&Ss, but boy it can be a pain to clean everything thoroughly, and that usually falls to me. So we just don’t do it anymore with any of the airbrushes. It should be noted we tend to use higher pressures than most folks when airbrushing (we can do this cause we run a very dry & cooled air supply, but that’s a whole other story) but not so high it should be causing what we saw. Again your mileage may vary on this. Vallejo cleaner works really well. Usually stick to Iwata cleaner, I can get it by the gallon for a better price. Haven’t tried AK, might have to try it. Paint shakers are a real plus. We use a different brand, but works on the same principle. I bought a couple hundred 316 SS ball bearings and we toss 3 or so in each bottle. Wash’em and reuse them. Been using em for about 10-12 years so far with no rusting/pitting. Haven’t tried the beads you mentioned…Hobby Lobby tomorrow 😉. One tip…when taking the end off of the Vallejo bottle (or other mfg) don’t do it close to a model you’ve got half painted…yeah, don’t ask how I know….good thing there’s something called Simple Green… As always, YMMV from what we see/do in our shop. Just sharing, nothing more, nothing less. Working our way through life, one model at a time: ok, reality check, so theres probably about a dozen or two started models in shop, but who’s counting? Wife…look away…now
I got into gunpla during the pandemic, and I fell into the hobby fast! I soon got into handpainting my models with Vallejo model colour, but now I’m wanting to get into airbrushing gunpla, and am worried about having to buy a whole bunch of extra paint. This game air set would be awesome! thanks for everything you do barbatos rex ❤️
I love your channel you show me so many things and as you dont say this is the best you always say this is the best for me ... you guys may find that the other thing works best for you but for mw ...... That is so fresh and shows you are not forcing anything or over selling anything, it allows people to make there own minds up and shows how professional you are, Thank you for what you do and how you do it. i try to watch them all. Thank you so much you have been a great help to me.......
Good luck to everyone! This is a fine set that will last quite a while. Vallejo makes some fantastic paint lines, and their Metal Color are perfect for acrylic metallics.
I have been using an air brush for a few many years. I was a Makup artist for the film and television. of course that style is about no real air brush technique other the color balance and symmetry. I have watched your take on air brushing and have actualy gotten into gunpla models since I came accross your page. I dont work for the industry and more and I was looking for a creative outlet. Ive worked with all kind of medium when working with effects and prosthetics from stains and inks through guache, acrylics and alchol based make ups. the most difficult medium to work with was Silicone based for sylicone appliances. I love your paint collection and I must say a little envious of it. I have learned alot watching your videos and I have been getting back into airbrushing again and tryin to develope some better technique. thanks again for all the advise and keep up the amazing work.
Everytime I see your room it blows me away, I love seeing how it's evolved even though I'm fairly new to the channel and the hobby it really has given me something to aspire to
I'm new to airbrushing, I think water based paint is the way for me to go. I'm getting back into model cars, ( after an absents of 50 or so years ) learning new stuff made easy with video's like yours. Thanks
Thank you so much for all of your knowledge and expertise! I originally found you because of a review you did on a harbor freight airbrush set and have been avidly watching everything you've put out. Your techniques, how to do your own thinner and cleaner, how to clean everything so it doesn't mess up your next project, it's all been so helpful, so thank you!! :)
I've been in the hobby since I was a little kid, around 2006, but I had to walk away from it while I was in my early 20's. Now that I'm getting older and I have a bit more time to spend, I'm getting back in. I just got my first airbrush, and hope to get a model in the case of my local store soon.
Thanks so much for your videos. I'm just recently getting back into models after around 40 years. Your videos showing how to use craft acrylic paints in an airbrush has been so helpful. I enjoy all the information you supply to us. Please keep up the great info!
You've literally taught me 90% of what I know about my tools and colors. The other 10% was from just trial and error and making mistakes. You're the GOAT man!
Paul from NB Canada. You have to be the only person who never has an issue with the Vallejo line up. I know I fight with them every time BUT I can use Ammo by Mig with zero issues. Keep up the great work.
Love watching your videos to unwind and learn more about a hobby I haven't had time for the past few years. I am hoping to split the use of our spare room very soon, so I may get my long desired spray booth area and painting desk. Good luck to all your viewers and supporters and it is a fantastic gesture.
What a terrific video, thank you! I'm totally new to airbrushing - a little intimidated, but so excited. So very cool of you to offer up such a lovely gift. Digging into your videos, now - definitely subscribed, definitely sharing! I have a friend who owns a huge model shop in Fullerton CA - so would LOVE to display some of your work there. You've totally inspired me to get over my airbrush fears and just GO FOR IT - again, thanks so much!
Airbrushing is much easier than you would think. I almost gave up till I got a good airbrush. The difference between the cheap one and a brand name was huge. Any questions you have feel free to ask. Thanks for being a subscriber
Happened to pick Vallejo as my choice of paints when I got into the gunpla hobby. Never looked back. Terrific channel! Your passion for what you do comes thru and enjoy the content. Keep up the great work!
Vallejo and Ammo are one of a few brands that I can reliably get my hands in here in the Netherlands. They do work well when thinned a little bit on my 0.3 needle. The offer they have is quite good. Model Air is the way to go for the airbrush. The airbrush cleaner works really well when you use a brush to clean it out with!
Winning this paint kit would have me set and busy with my models for quite awhile. I enjoy all the test videos. So many choices of paint lines and colors to choose from. Thank you for your time in putting material out.
Thank you for all you teach and share! Very thankful also for your heads up about Testors. A shame they are ruining their market. Good luck to everyone on this drawing!
I recently began building models again decades later in life. All I had available to me back then were bottle paints with fat, clumsy brushes and rattle cans that spit more than sprayed, so I really appreciate the tips, tricks and advice on your channel as I get into air-brushing my kits. Thanks!
I just found your channel and can’t stop watching! You’re great at explaining, teaching and sharing tips…just what I need. I'm an absolute beginner at airbrushing and looking to up his game at model and miniature painting. Thanks!
Another great review video. Your the reason I got into airbrushing, I started watching your videos about 4 months ago and a month in with your videos I was airbrushing my own kits and me not knowing anything about airbrushing your videos on paints and hardware itself has helped me so much now I can't wait to get your line of paints.
I agree Vallejo is one of the best, if not THE best. Of course I haven't used your new paint. If only Vallejo wasn't so speedy. I am disabled and on fixed income, so I have to save for a few months to buy. I thank you for all the info. Beginner airbrush enthusiast. 6 months and I think I have it down, in large part because of your channel. So thank you
New to airbrushing, been painting minis since the start of the pandemic and always looking to learn new techniques. Been thinning Vallejo brush paints and always wondered about their “air” line. Thanks for the vid, very informative 👍🏻
I love all your videos!! You have the best comparison and reviews of paints on RU-vid! I am in complete awe of your paint set up. I do resin printing and painting but my paint collection is very lacking. Lol, that's what happens when you're a mom. My family comes before my hobby so buying paints is not at the top of the priority list so I do what I can do and buy a bottle here and there. 😆 Keep making the awesome videos and I'll keep watching them!! 😁
Another great demo of paints, following your channel has really helped build my knowledge base of how to use paints through an airbrush. You always brake down the little do's and don't well which helps when learning a new tool, i used to paint mini's when growing up, an now just getting into airbrushing gunpla having a resource like your channel to navigate the wide variety of paints out there has help loads. Cheers
Really appreciate all these videos! I bought a Pace Super mini about 2 years ago and never looked back. I love that spray booth and its made in the USA. Got my mom their 36 inch model as she likes to do resin cups and that thing is a beast!
This is a great video channel. I've been able to learn more about airbrushing, paint and equipment around it. Because of this channel I was able to get items to help me in my airbrushing efforts.
