This was MEGA entertaining for me! Trtl is my ex boyfriend's company and I've been following you for years, so this was a very pleasant surprise 😂 Thank you for a good giggle!
I have a styled version of the Velcro one and the memory foam pillows. I’ve really enjoyed the Velcro one because I will sit on an aisle seat and then I use my memory foam one as a back pillow for my lumbar region. I somehow have made it work with my noise canceling head phones too.
This review was VERY helpful. Thank you guys so much. I've been on a wild search for the perfect pillow and seeing y'all test those ON the airplane was ideal.
The wrap around one just sucked. We bought it hoping it would help... but nope. Both my wife and I tried it and it actually ended up hurting our necks more than helping us rest. But the head pillow teletubby one was hilarious.
Kara and Nate! I've had the TRTL Pillow for ages and I disagree! It's very comfortable and puts your neck in a much more natural sleeping position than standard travel pillows :)
@@heynadine try it again, but shift it so it's a little more toward the front, you have the brace at your 3:00 position, try it more between the 1:00 and 2:00 position (or 10 and 11 depending on which side you prefer) and it will cradle your head from bobbing, but still be mostly to the side. Shifting it just slightly like this allows you to still be able to wear your noise-canceling headphones Matt. Don't give up on it so quickly, just try shifting its position slightly and you will be surprised at how effective it is. I love my TRTL so much, I always get several hours of sleep, no kinks in my neck, and can avoid jet lag every time because I can time my sleep effectively on the plane now.
the trtl pillow is great! 10 hours flight to johannesburg - saved my night, finally could sleep on a plane and not worry that my head would land on my neighbour or in the gangway. it just 'fixes' your head and neck and you can relax in to it and sleep. even without neckache
Oh my....I had to pause at 1:54 because I was belly laughing too hard to hear what you were saying!!!! Thank you so much for that. Tonight has been horrible, learned that my dear friend's dad passed away suddenly, and we heard together while driving in downtown Seattle traffic. It was a nightmare. I just got home and tuned into this ridiculous ostrich thing! So funny. Again, thanks for the distraction. I'll hit play again now!
That ostrich pillow was killing us! So funny. We’re getting ready for two crazy long 40+ hr travel days and wanted to find a decent pillow for the trips. Thanks for the video because not only did we get a laugh, we found our travel pillow. Loved the video style change up.
Loved this video. Not only was it great to see these pillows demonstrated its comedic element had me laughing out loud. I’ve seen #2 advertised a lot on instagram. This has been a big help. I think I’m ordering your favorite because I agree that the narrow back of the pillow is a plus. Thank you!!!
On my flight to Thailand I used the TRTL pillow and that with some melatonin tablets, I passed out for hours! On the other hand, my boyfriend hated it! It really just depends on the person 🤷♀️
I have the Turtle side pillow - so practical not only for the side of the neck, but the back of the neck too 😊 from London to Bangkok via Doha, it was a bit of a fight to get comfortable but I like it
Probably need to trial many travel neck pillows to find one suitable for you. I have been using neck pillows since 2009 and only recently found a couple of options worth trialing or can at least recommend to friends and family. The first one is trtl which is a mechanical design with soft fabric and premium version is mind-blowing. Another one is a memory foam-based pillow, I have tried the doccii and completely satisfied with the quality and comfort these memory foam pillows provide once settled down. They say their memory foam transforms to suit size by absorbing body heat. It looks like it’s true . Anyway, both worked for me and my partner.
I have that "armrest" pillow and it is magical to sort of shove between your seats OR between your seat & the window (if you're lucky enough to get a window seat). It gives you something to lean against that is nice & comfy. You can also set your arms through it, like a support sling. It's also great for in the car on long trips, no more bobbing/rolling heads hitting the window/frame LOL. Give it another try, there are multiple positions.
I used to use the regular neck travel pillow, but it's slightly too bulky and it's given me a bad crick in my neck. I now use something like the TRTL pillow (I have a different brand). It's actually comfortable for me. No, you don't have to velcro it too tight. It's like wearing a scarf, it helps keep you warm on the plane. I no longer have any neck pain either. Yes, I can wear my noise canceling ear buds when using it. To each her own, whichever is most comfortable for you is the right pillow.
This was super helpful! I was thinking about getting the Trtl Pillow, but seeing how you had to practically choke yourself with the wrap around piece to get the headrest in the right position tells me this is a pass for me too!
With the trtl pillow you can also wear it with the hard bit at the front holding your chin up. Plus they have made a new slightly more expensive version they call the trtl plus that is adjustable to suit more people.
I have the trtl pillow and think it's amazing! Got a solid 6 hours sleep on a coach journey. Find it works best with the seat tilted and perhaps economy plane chairs don't tilt as much as coach ones, which could make a difference. Yet to try it on long haul flight!
I'm with you girl...I've been using my trtl for 4 years now and it's the only pillow that works for me. I think it definitely is for certain types of sleepers and perhaps Nadine prefers to sleep a different way than you and I do.
I use the larger inflatable pillow all the time. I've been through a couple of them because I only like them when they're super fully inflated, Nd I think the pressure causes them to leak pretty soon.
I've had the TRTL Pillow for ages and I disagree! It's very comfortable and puts your neck in a much more natural sleeping position than standard travel pillows :)
i am using the trtl one but the brand is hotu which is not as flat as yours, much more supportive, and i found a better way that this one should use to support your chin not to fall always, with the support of the pillow on the flight chair to hold left & right side of your head and thus i slept pretty good, sounds weird thou😂
Just received my TRTL today and was going to return it based on Nadine's review, but changed my mind upon reading all the dissents. Note: If you do get a TRTL--save all packaging it came in because apparently that is required to return them.
I use the Travelrest on my trips from NZ to London (very long haul). You weren't using it correctly as the cord needs to be secured cross-body or around the back of your seat (although I have only ever used the cross-body way). If your head is lying to the LHS, then you cuddle the bar with your left and right arms but I also use the weight of my right arm to secure the cord into place. Doing that keeps the top head part of the pillow from moving and it's the only travel pillow i have ever been able to sleep with. I highly recommend it for side sleepers.
I'm in desperate need for a neck pillow before my next long haul flight. I liked the look of your trusty neck pillow the best! Do you find it stops your head from falling forward at all though?
Now I kind of want an ostrich pillow. It's the most pointless, impractical pillow ever! So is the Mulgore pillow. Super unnecessary! But I'll probably stick with a normal neck pillow.
LOVE! You too are the cutest travel couple! Enjoyed laughing...make more of these fun, giggly content videos. I like seeing the mistakes, trials and errors in people's travel videos. And when you both have babies together you can video all of your travel hacks as a family, see all the bloopers. You both will make amazing parents...if that is in the future. Thank you for sharing this video on your "amazon" comments. I'll be sure NOT to get them (I have a blow up, compact pillow -- still deciding on the memory foam as it takes too much space on my backpack). Aloha Nadine!
I have a Woollip which I think is the original large inflatable pillow & I LOVE it. Never before have I been able to sleep on a plane until I invested in one of these. Leaning forward does not hurt my back (but I am short) & the plastic-y blow up bed smell disappears after a while. Also great for two to lean on if travelling with a friend.
One of the best review videos regarding the travel pillows. Good job. I was thinking to buy a Trtl pillow, but after your video I will stick with memory foam.
my friend has the ostrich pillow! i think it looks way too uncomfy and weird hahaha this was such a good video idea! i’d love to see more travel product stuff like this, especially stuff for road trips! ^__^
I bought two of those trtl wrap around pillows for me and my husband last year and we couldn’t figure them out! Horrible waste of money 🙁. Glad to see this review on the other styles! Now I won’t waste more money for this years trip! Thanks
It’s funny because I was so close to buying the neck brace one because I read it was the most comfortable but very glad I didn’t. Happy to hear it wasn’t a hit!!
On a long haul flight this time, I just popped in a melatonin gummy and just slept the whole way in whatever position was comfortable at that time. However, Ice bought that inflatable life vest kind of pillow to support me sleeping on my lap. That seems to work for me.
I can NEVER sleep on the plane, ever! Not even if I’ve been up for 30 hours and dead tired. But! The turtle pillow is the ONLY pillow I was able to use that actually allows me to sleep at least for a little! It’s the only one that doesn’t make your head drop forward and I find it super helpful! So did my entire family. I think you used it wrong, try it again. Wrap it flat out around your neck, don’t make it so tight, and yes wrap around chin
I’m so glad I found this video! I was about to order the TRTL, but I changed my mind after watching this. I ordered the pillow you usually use and it’s awesome!
I am a flight attendant and travel all the time the TRTL pillow is awesome if you put it on correct. My sister and I went to Italy spent time on planes trains and cars and she was so jealous of my TRTL pillow I was comfortable on all modes of transportation sleeping.
Thx for pillow video, I tend to use blow up pillow to save space but defiantly your regular memory cushy pillow is what I use at home. Do you remember the Total Pillow. Its round and so comfortable, you can fold it, sit in it and put between your knees. Never see it anymore. Miss it. What do you think,? I'm a new subscriber
I have the third and fourth pillow. The last one is ok when u are able to sleep upright. The third is perfect if you are over 180cm and have to sleep in an economy class seat where any other sleep position is painful.
During transit I usually just clip it to my backpack with the strap on the neck pillow. It dangles around and sometimes gets in the way, but usually isn't too bad. Nadine prefers to use the stuff-sack that came with the neck pillow and then she puts it inside her backpack. When you pack it into the stuff-sack it makes the neck pillow about 1/3 its normal size.
5:35 Milgore and its variants are the best. You need to blow it up !!!!really tight!!! and most importantly - buy it in advance and leave it on the balcony for a couple of days to avoid the smell.
