@@Raxxix We got lost in rain on wrong trail (it turned out into a steep stream, not a trail) so we got up that hill late when we found the correct trail up. We camped up there and enjoyed the dragons next morning in sunny weather. It was great. My alu boxes didn't help in some stones part but I really enjoyed that anyway. That hill is definitely on my list of places to revisit eventually. Also I should download a map to my navi next time, not just a TET GPX track. :-)
Hi Argo, it's a nice and helpful video for me because we are searching for our 2024-Adventure. TET Romania is one of our favorites. Thanks a lot. A friend of mine an I are driving the same speed as you and we use the Tenere also. We made a lot of (small and big) improvement for Adventure-riding (for example suspension, high exaust, excel/haan-wheels with slim rear-wheel, handlebar, twin-air airfilter. soft-luggage from Kriega/Enduristan and many more small things from +/- 30 years experience of Enduro-racing). One important question is everytime: what kind of tyres we shall use. We have good experience with Mitas (NOT the Dakar-Version) (E09/rear E10/front -> E10 because of street-performance). When the lanscape is flat, the E09 is good for a 2 week (4000km) trip. (TET Balkan for example). But at the ACT Greece, with many stones and steep trails, we lost 70% during 1700(?) km with the Mitas E10(rear). At TET Pyrenees (2 weeks, 2700km) with the E9(rear) this tyre was complete dead. The Problem is: high weight and steep hills with sharp stones and/or sharp-edged rocks. What kind of tyres you and your friend are using? All the best from Germany, MIchael
Hey Michael ! We were using mostly Michelin Trackers 140/80 and Metzeler MC360 Mid-Hard and the KTM had Mitas E09 on the rear. On front we had Michelin Trackers mostly. So, pretty knobbie tires . It really depends when you are going, if during May/June, then I´d definitely recommend knobbie tires as it will be slippery and muddy in the mountains. Otherwise, some less knobbie tires would work also. We really didn't worry about wear, since we had only like 2500km planned and all these tires worked out fine. Only had 2 punctures throughout the trip if I remember correctly. Go for the traction, not for the wear. All the tires mentioned previously are pretty cheap anyways but atleast you´ll have the traction you need in the mountains.
Wow, that Northern Dragons Section in rain looked terrible - great job with your bikes! I'm actually glad now, that we had decided to turn around. That looks fun on a hard enduro, but not on a heavily loaded RTW bike.
Norther Dragons with rain was "fun".. But coming down was easy, had to take it slow. Going up on another hand would take hours and at least 4 people to do it as there is no "road" .. but there was some forest road hidden in woods which we saw afterwards.
Well, the question is - is it still motorcycle riding when you need 4 people to drag a bike up a track? That makes only sense to me, if there's no other way leading to my target, but there's a perfect road just a few kilometers parallel to it 😂
