As someone from US observing the whole UK carp culture I have to say you guys are taking this whole carp safety thing WAY out of the proportion. Use thick enough main lines or tapered lines, weaker breaking strength hooklinks than your main line and ALL of your carp "safety " problems are solved... If you did all that this product IMO definitely has potential. Don't crack off in the first place.
It’s an interesting view and you make some good points. For some perspective though it’s important to recognise that specimen Carp in the UK are more than just awesome animals - they are also incredibly valuable and prized assets of a business (the fishery or club). I don’t disagree with using weaker hooklinks than mainline. This is a practice that we use when fishing for most other species. Weirdly the trend for carp hook lengths seems to be heavier than the mainline. That said, heavy mainlines are used, so you usually wouldn’t get a break off when carp fishing unless you played the fish like a complete idiot. However, no matter what breaking strain line you use (or diameter of line which is often as important as breaking strain) a snap off is always possible as the line can get damaged, rub up against underwater foliage and snags etc The problem is what happpens in these ‘what if’ scenarios. It’s also a problem with anglers newer to the sport who might not have the skills or knowledge to protect what it ultimately, here in the UK at least, considered a very precious species.
A fish should never be trailing a lead though and he only reeled it through one weed bed. Fish will be trailing it around the twig for foreseeable future. Most likely picking up more weed as he goes.
With the greatest respect You’ve used the twig how it’s never meant to be used , why didn’t you do a fair test and reverse the twig ie use it exactly how it’s meant to be used and the drag it through your weed bed You say you don’t hate OMC yet you only done half a test. What’s next start blaming it for global warming I’m all on for safety in our fishing but at least do a fair test and not what looks like a one way ie you want it to fail.
@@colinbailey6236 but it’s not a true representation of what would happen The wings would not be facing the way he set it up it would be in reverse That’s why I said try it both ways , Just for clarity, I haven’t bought one and fish lakes where it’s already been band. I would like to see it in use before I blamed it for everything that’s wrong In fishing today
@@michaelgoodyear2920 I don't think you completely understand the process of a crack off Michael. It absolutely is exactly what would happen to a carp if the line paired and the animal picked the bait up. Think it through, I mean REALLY think it through. The way this chap is demoing it is exactly what the carp would be subjected to. Its absolutely a correct representation and is the essential reason why this device is an absolute horror.
That's a bit harsh Steven he's only trying to make a few quid. most items of tackle could be dangerous like leadcore if put together by a noddy enough said [in English]
I been carp fishing since 1981 and i love it!! We aint conservation people we are pissing carp off daily!! Sticking things in their lips! I tjink its rhe noddies that are actually the moaners!!!!!
I think that all depends who you are and how you fish mate. Many anglers do a lot of conservation work and spend a lot of time, money and effort to look after fish habit and welfare. Others may prefer to turn up and fish and not contribute any other way. I’ve done a bit of both over the years and also been ab angling journalist to boot so have seen a lot in my time. Ultimately, everyone has a choice and I’m not hear to judge anyone.
Noddy tackle , clip you pre-tied rig to this contraption bang it out on your commercial water and smoke a bag of grass. Welcome to modern Carp fishing.
