The color shows you the height multiplier. Basically for every action you do (line clears etc) the game needs to know how many meters to add to ur climb height. But as you progress the multiplier is increased. Max is x2 at white color. This is applied ontop of the other multipliers like combo count to give the final height gained by a specific action.
