I've followed the rise of hypertappers with Joseph and his 1.3 and thought "this can't get much better than that", boy was I wrong. Congrats to all the new player and to CTWC!
I'm blown away at how insane the competition has gotten for classic Tetris. I've been watching since the Jonas years. I'm sure he'd love to see how much it's grown.
@@jacobschmidt2709Are you sure about that? He's not even the champion this time but got worldwide media attention for making history being the first human being to crash the game. He's the one that brought me into following Classic Tetris and I'm a huge fan of him!
Even though I was rooting for Sidnev the whole time you cant help but be hyped for Scuti. What an amazing match with insane skill shown by both players
Its insane that players have gotten SO good that its difficult to keep up with BOTH screens let alone 4. I was constantly shifting focus. Normally I'd be one sided but wow this game was insane. Maxes every game, double super kill screen. This will be seen as a HUGE milestone for Tetris, probably the biggest
@@AlastairGames A reference to Blue Scuti beating Tetris for the first time shortly thereafter, a milestone that massively overshadows this one. Was meant as a joke, not to be taken seriously
I've been watching CTWC and CTM for a couple years now and I've gotta say that seeing a new young player like Scuti had made this more exciting recently
@@scienceevolves4417 in modern/guideline rules tetris, no. But in classic NES tetris pieces are 100% random. You could theoretically get 4 line pieces in a row or as long as 60 pieces with no line pieces
This was amazing. I didn't even do this at 13 and I have not played tetris in years since the site went down and now I have to figure out another way to play it again because I really want to get good at it just for my own benefit. I use to play it a lot on my gameboy when I was a kid back in the 90's.
Whenever I watch a match that has sidnev my eyes are just magnet to her screen. Even when commentators praise other competitor I can’t look away; she so incredibly skilled and creative with her placements, it’s mesmerizing!
Soon I’ll be uploading more of my casts to my personal channel. There are two channels that will have more of my casts too. The name of them are ClassicTetrisGauntlet and Gauntlet Ascension
@@ITZsharky1 Awesome, can't wait to check them out! Your passion for classic Tetris is palpable, whether you're playing or commentating. Love to see it!
Very happy for Sidnev, she's being very critical of herself in some games I've seen, but she deserves the success. Well done. Scuti is the future star! Absolutely incredible!
gosh this makes me wonder what the level record for the super kill screen could be, imagine there's another secret technique, even though it's not even really possible, since rolling already gets close to 30hz (max speed before inputs are just dropped), that allows players to play in super kill screen
I understand that people have different preferences, but the lvl29 music made it unwatchable for me. Had to skip those parts and just see the results.........
@@ITZsharky1 Thanks for listening to the feedback and make changes in the future videos. Also, no need to apologize Sharky. Constantly experimenting with new ideas is the way to improve your content!!! The important thing is to listen to feedback and reflect if it works. That being said, please don't listen to just one or a few complains. As mentioned before it's a preference for me. I don't like it but if 90% of the people like it maybe it's a good idea. Just take back reasonable feedbacks and talk to more people to see what general audience actually think. Good luck!
One question: I assume the players don't see the points/tetris difference stats on their screens? That's why they always look over to the other screen? If so, is there a reason, technical or not, for it not being implemented?
Both should be seeing the normal NES Tetris output on their CRT screens. The stats we see are a layer on top of that after taking the video outputs of both and doing some processing.
Yeah the players only see a CRT with the ordinary Tetris game on it, with a little extra stuff to the left listing off the scores of the previous games for use by the referee. The commentary can provide info for the players, but screen looking is more useful on demand. Certain online platforms make it way easier than looking at another physical screen, but I don't think CTWC wants to use anything beyond CRT + NES + tournament cart, for the players themselves.
Same, was really hoping the prodigy kid would take it, similar to Joseph vs Jonas. He has much to learn. He is too risky too often, he needs to learn to control his board over maxing his rate
Best commentator group!! Great match! But, the music is kinda annoying, add nothing and disturb the overal game and comments and audience. Please put it off
Do they play on modified NES pads as OEMs are no longer produced? How do they guarantee each pad is equivalent in terms of speed and accuracy? What are the rules on that?
Man those two girls rock! During the shutdown I started watching Jonas&co and really liked it. Played again myself (played it in the 80s on a gameboy). I haven't watched any tetris for a few years and just stumbled across this vein: they are taking the game to a new level!
Great commentators, great games. Only thing I didn't like was the music. It was ok when normal speed but increased speed was just painful to listen to. Had to lower volume and miss some of the great commentary.
Yea I've always struggled with the ethics of keeping OG tetris music. Its too repetitive but I mean, its called Classic Tetris for a reason. Perhaps they should change the music at level 29 to keep it interesting and engaging. What would they play though?
@@MrWonglethis was fixed in subsequent uploads. I thought it was clever, but a good chunk of people disliked it. I appreciate the feedback from everyone here to help make better videos from the channel
Maybe in the future. The issue is we would have to get all of our equipment, the core staff flown out there, and of course other host of other things like the cost to have it ran in another area that isn't locally to the team. But we do host other events with people in various regions. Just really difficult at this current time to host the championship in other areas outside the US
Yeah, I guess that’s a ton of other costs beyond simple travel for competitors. It’s definitely been cool to see the other CTWC events, like Germany, Iberia, etc.
In my opinion, Scuti is the best player in this tournament!! Unfortunately, it seems he lost his nerves and was too excited, but that's part of the game. Still, a great semi-final. Go Scuti go !!! :)
