worth clarifying that this release is NOT a port but rather an emulation of the original game every single Arcade Archives release by Hamster uses emulation and a lot of the same features shown here are also present on practically every other Archive Archives release
It's crazy how many great Tetris games the Switch has - 99, Effect, Tetris x Puyo, and now even TGM! Yeah, I would have preferred TAP+, but to be honest, I still have to properly learn the TGM mechanics, so trying to get through TGM1 will last me for quite some time. Buying this was a complete no brainer to me!
Nice and sweet review! Despite having the...*means* to play TGM 1, I went ahead and purchased the port on the Switch anyway for the sake of supporting the game, plus I'm still new to TGM (in the sense of doing serious single player runs and reaching for the elusive GM rank) and it's been fun to see my progress so far. .u.
I bought it day 1, but my skill on keyboard is much better than on controller. I’m looking into a solution so I can play good on a legal version of TGM 😅
I'm in the same boat, I'd recommend picking up a fight stick (the F300 is the one I have which is pretty good) or a PS4/Switch keyboard adapter on Amazon.
@@chronosaga That is true. I just hit S7 twice this week and hit a level PB at 836, and if I can get my eventual GM run recorded and on the leaderboard, that would be insanely awesome!
There is a Keyboard made specifically to play Tetris games on Switch (among other games) But personally, TGM controls are different enough that playing with an arcade controller might just come handy (for example, Up is Sonic Drop instead of space, and Down is Softrop, the combination of both up and down locks the piece immediately to the ground, which on a stick would be a shake of the stick)
@@spikerthedragonbear Yeah I’ve been looking at the Mayflash arcade sticks. I would get the F300 Elite, but my hands are quite big and I’m worried that it would be quite cramped. I think that a full arcade stick is probably the way to go for TGM
This is Hamster's first game that has been on a newer arcade hardware rather than older hardware from the 80s, early 90's or Neo Geo. This game ran on the Sony ZN-2 hardware, which was based on the original Playstation. This makes me hope Hamster will port more ZN-1 or ZN-2 games to Arcade Archives, like Street Fighter EX 1-2 Plus, Strider 2, Aero Fighters Special (Sonic Wings Limited), Rival Schools, Star Gladiator series, etc.
Is the big mode also accesible in 2 player mode? Playing it on my playstation 1. and BIG mode is accesible in 2 player mode. Also I have a version without music so I can mix in my own music! I wonder how the lag compares between ps1, ps4 and switch
With Tetris 99 & Tetris Effect there is no reason to buy anything else, especially if you want online multiplayer. Puyo 2 is almost dead which too bad and this TGM.... still don't know why I should buy it.
Bro your videos are awesome, I accidentally dropped on one of them and I'm glad I did. Can't wait for more tgm games to pop out and let's hope we get to play online one day.
