Tevin in my opinion is one of the greatest singers who ever lived.Calling him just a R&b singer is an understatement, his voice is so rare, so smooth,so rich and so warm, that it feeds the soul.Tevin is a R&b icon and there will never be another Tevin Campbell.Absolutely love your music Tevin. You are my role model , much love to you and God bless you in everything you choose to persue.
Never thought anyone could ever come close to singing a Tevin Campbell song, boy was I wrong, take a listen to Wanya Morris sons Wanmor, they bodied & stamped it, especially yh he youngest one Reco!!!!
Rocco* yea those youngsters are great. Chulo is almost flawless compared to the other 2, but Tevin, on that "THE END!!" Run though, Rocco couldn't even reach lol
It's almost eerie the amount of Whitney I hear and see in him. Even how he looks intently into the camera, hunches his shoulders etc. I don't even think he's trying to imitate her. They were such effortless singers in their prime! Sheesh..
Wow. He is so amazing and sung this perfectly. Such a powerful voice. Al and Kyle West did their thing on producing and writing this song. Al B.'s signature all over it.!💯❗
Its crazy how he sounds like the male version of Whitney. He should do a song with some of her vocals on it to pay her homage. I wonder if he ever met her before
I agree with you Isaiah. People hold Whitney in such high regard that the mere thought of comparing someone to her is unheard of. But Tevin is most definitely the male equivalent to her VOCALLY. There’s no way around that. You can here it here in this performance. In songs like Don’t Say Goodbye Girl, Look What We’d Have, etc. A vocal powerhouse.
actually he is nowhere near Whitney. He just has certain inflections that sound similar to hers and similar tones that are a little lower on notes compared to her, that's it. He actually did sang a song of her, the greatest love of all and it was clear he wasn't on her level. Folks love to devalue Whitney's vocals by comparing others to her as if her live vocals are easily duplicated. He is literally shouting in certain places where Whitney would've been belting. Plus the band was overpowering him. Whitney has literally overpowered whole orchestras without even using all her voice. Let Whitney rest and stop comparing folks to her.
In my estimation, Tevin is Tevin and Whitney is Whitney, ever since someone started comparing him to Whitney that's all you keep on hearing even to this day, so naturally once that got out there, lots of people jumped on the Tevin Campbell sounds just like Whitney Houston or he could be her son bandwagon. Yes he has sang a couple of songs, putting a lot of the Whitney influence in them , ( example, The Greatest Love Of All , and the Christmas song, Do you Hear What I Hear) plus he recently admitted that he did absolutely everything the Whitney Houston style by way of singing, and he admitted that he does love her and her music, but to me , I'm just hearing Tevin Campbell, and for her that is a huge compliment , and I have heard others sing similar to her, trying to copy her but in their own voices but I just give them credit because they can sing, but this Tevin/ Whitney stuff , well I guess I just see and hear something different, no I'm not tone deaf or anything but like I've always said Tevin Campbell is himself, both he and Whitney are top notch vocalists but I just get a little tired of hearing, Tevin Campbell is the male version of Whitney Houston but everyone to their own opinion and I wholeheartedly respect that most assuredly
0:29 Tevin is serving Miss Whitney Houston on her version of "All The Man That I Need". The notes aren't quite the same but it's reminiscent of each other.
Tevin in my opinion is one the top three male R&B vocalists ever. The other two are Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway. Pure, natural vocalist. I see in the comments there are a lot of comparisons to Usher. Usher is the better all around entertainer. And he can sang his ass off. But Tevin is far better vocally. Usher still feels slighted by Tevin too. That’s why he has to always bring up that Can We Talk was supposedly his first. I don’t get why he has to bring that up. He clearly has had the better career, yet he still feels a certain type a way about Tevin having a better 90s career than him.
I remember this appearance well and just LOVE how age-appropriate the lyrics were for Tevin - at teenager at the time. Always was a wonderful singer from his childhood. This was one of my very favorite songs as a young, professional adult in Hotlanta in the early 90s.💟☮️🙋🏽
I love this song so much and this performance is more than just "great" words can't describe it how talented Tevin is. His voice gives me the chills, phenomenal singer.
I remember him and usher coming up around the same time. this guy was a better singer. I don't think he ever cared enough to become a huge star but he could have
Sang, bae. You are all right w/ me, Tevin. It just hit me.....I didn't realize how much I miss yo' singing, Tevin. Here we are in 2017, desperately wanting this type of music/singing back. Pero anyway, great performance.
This kid was the truth!!! The best in recent times! I agree that his style is "Male Whitney." And he was capable. No one else can say that and be telling the truth! Only Tevin! Period! He was that good!
Lawd have mercy!! The feelings I had of the first time I saw that smile on BET Video Soul of video ''Tomorrow'' just comes back!! His voice mmmmm is out of this world! Love me some Tevin!
This is my first time seeing this particular video of Tevin's live performance on the Tonight Show. His vocals were insane! He was and still is extremely talented. Love this! ❤
This is my fav songs by Tevin. Luv luv luv it. Play it almost every day. Another great song by one sensational singer. Great job Tevin. Miss you and your great songs. Please come back and make great songs for us again. U were the bomb.
Those background singers are SINGING. Those lyrics and that melody aren't the easiest to repeat in succession on key harmonized like that in the chorus.
Does anyone know about how old Tevin was on this? He looks like he's no older than 16 on here and comparing him to the 16 yr olds of my generation makes it seem like something is truly wrong with our generations lack of talent.
Just listen to the lyrics and the vocal ability compared to the music entertainers today the lyrics are gimmicky and half them can't sing their own recorded music live. Tevin Campbell era you had to sing for real , listen to his music and older music you can hear the breath taken to hit notes.
Love the vocals! Tevin was a vocal BÌBLE.. This musical arrangement and instrumentation.....meh🙅♀️. Its a bit all over the place and feels disjointed. Doesnt give the same groove and feeling as the original.
I only heard this song recently because the only song I Knew and loved by Tevin was can we talk and he was also amazing in the group efforts black men United you will know what you should check out it is so amazing❤❤❤ he is super talented but I don't think he reached his potential does anybody know what happened😮
