How did this guy go from being one of the top R&B acts in the early 90s to completely disappearing for pretty much 2 decades? He’s obviously still got it after all this time.
Also keep in mind some people don’t want the stress of fame not saying that was the case with Tevin Campbell but some artists or bands what have you might make a few hits or albums than try to sneak their way out of the spotlight! Fame is not for everybody!
I saw this film in theaters with my Mom at age 15, and this performance brought back so many memories. She passed away in March, but I think she'd loved to have seen this; it was one of the very few films we both actually enjoyed watching together.
That's an awesome memory. I was 16 when it came out but didn't get to see it at the movies. My mom bought me the VHS tape, Ik aging myself, but I played it over and over. Memories of a better time.
I'm such a big baby sitting here crying all happy lol. Me and my brother used to watch this movie OVER AND OVER AND OVER as kids. I really brought me back. Hell, I thought I was powerline at one point in my life lol.
The greatest Disney song EVER!!!! I'm 28 and I still remember every word to this song...I went and bought it yesterday for my 6yr old daughter and I think I was more hyped than her watching it lol.
A guy sang this on American Idol in 2019. The judges had no idea what the song was or what it was from. Lionel's daughter Sofia is 22 and his son Miles is 26. They should have grown up with A Goofy Movie. Not trying to be salty about it but I'm salty. This movie is a classic.
I don't think he realizes how much he's a part of our childhoods he's amazing brings back beautiful memories he sounds exactly the same and he's singing live! I hope they have a 30 year anniversary! ❤

The choice to mix in different dance scenes from various Disney movies was chef's kiss. It's like you got a dose of several feel good moments from the past while watching TC perform one of the coolest songs in Disney's repertoire. We had it good in terms of movies back in the day.
You know, for a while before learning who the voice for Powerline was, I actually assumed that Powerline was played by Michael Jackson himself. To see someone with very similar vocals and skills like Michael Jackson- that is the DEFINITION of awesome!
I was 5 when this came out in theaters, and even got the VHS copy when it came out. 90s Disney movies had the BEST soundtracks. they should have released a powerline album to follow the release of the movie, would have been gold
If we listen to each others' heart, we find where never too far apart. And MAYBE LOVE IS THE REASON WHY! For the first time ever, we're seeing it eye to eye.
Sometimes it kills me they didn’t write more powerline songs and give him his own movie about a concert adventure across the states... it would have been epic and we could have had more badass songs...
Holy sh... this is awesome. I remember dressing myself up in yellow as a kid to look like Powerline and then danced and sang along while watching the movie. Loved it, was one of my favorites. This makes me happy, so cool!
I will always remember back when I was in middle school and went on a class trip to see the musical Hairspray. I got goosebumps listening to your performance of “Run and tell that”. I knew I recognized your voice from somewhere and when I looked up your name on the program, I was amazed to find out that you were Powerline from a goofy movie
I just realized Jenna Von Oy got up to go dance with folks....how awesome!! How could anyone not have left that place smiling that day? I hope the whole panel felt amazing knowing they lifted spirits and made people cry happy tears for making something so legendary in their/our childhoods.

After plenty of success in the early 90s Tevin Campbell's popularity declined in the late 90s. Several years later, after being arrested and not having released any music for a while, he dived into the world of musicals. He has worked on some music recently, but never regained the success he had in the first half of the 90s. This guy's talent at a young age was quite remarkable and it seems like his vocals are still on point, but that's not enough to become and especially remain a huge star in the world of music.
LOVE this movie (2nd, not so much) but there are many many times I have wondered (besides Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and the people who dress up as them in the park) if the people at Disney even remember the old school characters like Donald, Goofy, Mickey, Max, Chip & Dale etc, they seem to focus more on things like movie characters (Simbas son getting a show of his own, live action stuff etc) and tend to seem to forget about these characters that helped Mickey get Disney to where it is today. Then they do stuff like this and a small glimmer of hope shines through with maybe they are not so ignorant these days about who started it and what followed...still would like more traditional Mickey Mouse cartoons and the like though, even if it is on XD or Disney Jr, Sofia and Jake are nice and all but, like I said, more then not it does seem Mickey and co are over looked these days when it comes to cartoons.
TheLostLenore The thing is. I don't think they're ignorant these days....I think they are just trying to appeal to the current market. Which seems to focus on these newer characters. Lets face it. How many of today's kids saw A Goofy Movie?
DML897 Fair point, I guess they do need to appeal to todays market but that doesn't mean they should push stuff like this to the back burner, if they catered for todays market yet still had Mickey and co show up at least they will be seeing the greatness that came before Lab Rats and I Didn't Do It especially when these days people LOVE cartoons. Take a look at all the Bronys out there, the Adventure Time fans, Steven Universe fans, even old school shows like Gargoyles and Thunder Cats still have a huge cult following, cartoons for the older kids are STILL in fashion, all they need to do is apply Mickey, Goofy etc into situations that would appeal to todays demographic and they would be loved by the new generation.
+TheLostLenore If they brought the old stuff back it would be just as popular as the stuff now. To be honest I think that disney should do what Nickelodeon does, have a block of their old shows. Not as late at night but where kids today would see it. They would love it I think.
