Texas A&M Missouri Preview, Predictions & Bets | 2024 

Overall good breakdown but I will make one point here: At 6:08 you ask what teams have given Missouri the most trouble so far and point out it's been teams with running quarterbacks in BC and Vandy. While that is true, I will push back a little due to the fact that when you dive deeper into the stats of those games, you don't come away with the impression that a running QB is why they were close: Boston College: Castellanos rushed for 16 yards on 13 attempts, BC had 49 rushing yards total. Vandy: Pavia rushed for 84 yards on 17 attempts (almost half of which came on one admittedly great run), Vandy averaged 4.1 YPC. Solid, but not earth-shattering. The reason those games were games was, IMO, not due to Missouri struggling to contain running QB's. It was penalties and mental lapses in the secondary, and, in the case of Vandy, kicking woes and egregiously bad game management by Drink. BC: MU had 8 penalties for 91 yards. They also got burned for a 60ish yard TD pass on a play that everyone thought was blown dead so they stopped covering and Castellanos just threw over everybody who had stopped for a free TD. Vandy: 3 missed FG's including a chip-shot early in the game. Add to that another lapse from an MU cornerback leading to a free TD over top. Finally, unforgivably bad clock management by Drink at the end of the first half that ended up handing Vandy a free FG they never should have had a chance to get. My point is not to make excuses for Mizzou, I just think the running QB point is being overstated by many. I really like your analysis and think you guys are some of the best to do it. When a team like A&M this season wins off defense and turnovers, everyone on social media favors the opposition because they love offense. This is the argument every week and is hard to gauge A&M. If Reed plays, he better get better at downfield accuracy or A&M loses. There's been 30+ points on wide open shots he's clearly thrown away since he got the start, which keeps 8+ in the defensive box. Teams stay in the box until he hits 1 deep pass, which is why the run game can't get started till late. This is why Weigman is QB1.

Mizzou hasn't played it's best game this year - and they know it. They'll be ready to show a&m what they can do.

Missouri being able to tackle well in space, not making big coverage mistakes, and staying out of penalty trouble is a big thing to watch for. Not a big bar for them to get over, so if they aren’t able to do those things it’ll be a long day for them. We know what the offense can do, they can explode on anybody. Just playing a clean game with strong defense is probably all they really need to focus on.

Which team has a better coaching staff? The answer will determine who will win this game. Missouri is a more experienced unit that has played together under the same system longer; while A&M has more talent (247 Sports preseason ranks A&M at #7 in composite talent rankings, Mizzou ranked 19th; CBS Sports ranked A&M 4th in BCR "Blue Chip Rankings" with 79% of their roster either 4* or 5*, only behind Georgia, Alabama and Ohio State), but is still learning to play as a unit under Elko. Missouri has an edge at the offensive skill positions (QB, WR, RB), but A&M has an edge in the trenches. This will be a chess match and a great game for sure.

Mizzou at A&M…he said it the other way around at beginning. Kyle Field is a big home advantage.

In regard to the Aggies, will the performance catch up to the talent?

hard to put your money on one of these teams when they have both shown to be good football teams this year. Especially the fact that both of these teams will be highly motivated to win: mizzou to be able to say they can beat a good team while on the road, AM to show that they can beat a good team thats undefeated

Confidence only matters so much. All it takes is one good sack or just some pressure even to break that confidence in a newer QB. I honestly can't believe A&M is favored, that is insane to me. They were favored against ND and lost, and ND is worse than Mizzou.

Last year Mizzou pissed me off so bad the first four games of the year I didn’t even tune in to the first half of K St. Here we are again through 4 games we suck and here I am again not even wanting to watch. Aggies win 31-20

All this talk about Texas A&M being one of the toughest places to play is complete BS. Texas A&M is only 26 - 22 at home vs power 5 teams over their past 48 games. That is not what I consider a great home field advantage. How can Texas A&M be considered a tough place to play if they're barely winning 50% of their home games? They have a lot of fans but it's not helping them win. Mizzou wins by 14.

A&M is an overrated, average, team. mizzou should win this by double digits.
