I spent 22 years in a Wisconsin county jail as a correctional officer. It’s a tough way to make a living, glad to be retired and not working a lot of holidays and OT.

My neighbor worked as a correctional officer, and all I can say is that he was extremely happy to finally retire. His son worked there for maybe a year at most, and quit as he hated it. He said he wasn’t cut out for it, it was depressing, and he said it was frightening. Always had to have his head on a swivel when the inmates were out of their cells. I’m thankful for everyone who’s a correctional officer, or in any line of law enforcement, but it’s not for me.

Looks like fun, but I'd never feel comfortable staying someplace with one exit and barred windows..... doesn't give you many options if there is a fire.

I spent 2 years on staff at Mayport Correctional Custody Unit in Flawda. Such a unique experience. I was indoctrination Petty Officer and met the Awardees at the door. Good times😂😂😂

Thankfully, I was not working the jail 🫣 32 years CSI may have been gruesome sometimes, but I was outside. Definitely couldn't be locked inside 😁

I been in San Quentin state prison for over 15 years....... As a Correctional Lt. It's been a challenge place to work for sure. Less than 5 years to go until we are out on the road. Can't wait to meet the both of you in Tampa 😊

Now that place is tough. Few people know that it is the Marin county’s jail, correct(?) I’m originally from Alameda, a Marin County cousin of mine’s son did some time at SQ. Blessings to you! Thanks for you service.

I was a Senior Corrections Officer for a Maximum Security State Prison w/ Death Row so I’ve definitely experienced finding hooch brewing in toilets!😂 You both are great! Thanks for sharing your travels and May the Lord Jesus bless you greatly!💜✝️🕊🐎

Two Navy types in a jail cell…who would have ever guessed that was possible? LOL. Now you can say that you had an overnight stay in the slammer and you controlled the keys. That really did look like a event to remember. That slice of pie made my mouth water as the lady was putting on the plate, let alone what it looked like with the ice cream on top. Happy trails1

When stationed in Great Britain we (the family) rented an oast to stay in as we explored the Canterbury and Dover area. An oast is a tall circular 'silo' and originally a hops kiln for a brewery. Many have been converted to apartments for rental.

You asked about unusual night stays - Coast Guard House Historic Inn - Point Arena. This was an awesome place. We also stayed in a Caboose at Featherbed Railroad Bed and Breakfast in Nice, Ca on Clear Lake. Another fun place to stay.

Reminds me of the jail cells we had at the Randolph AFB police station which was built in the 1930’s. Retired as 21 yrs USAF 👮🏼‍♀️!

We’ve stayed at an RV campground/airstrip in West Virginia, where, on week ends there were sky divers “falling from the sky” from early morning until dusk. Another West Virginia campground boasted having the only lighthouse in the state. It was a beauty and there is quite a story about it.

Slight flashback to shipboard life with all the pipes and wiring against the walls for easy access. I Only went to the brig once in my career to fix a PC,. They never told the control PO I was coming, so he treated me like a new addition. I figured out what was going on right away and played along for a little bit until I couldn't hold back any longer and broke out laughing. He was NOT amused until everyone else couldn't hold back any longer. You MAs are a crazy bunch. Actually, we all are. A special thanks to all correction officers. You deal with a lot of "Shtuff" we will luckily never know or see. I've personally endorsed several of my guys who went in for Customs and Border Patrol as well as a couple who went the corrections route. They're all my kids in my eyes, so I worry about them, but am proud of them and happy I was able to help them on their chosen civilian careers.

I spent 30 years putting people in jail, some because they had a moment of head up but and others deserved more but I'm not a judge I was a Police Officer. Keep the rubber on the road and safe travels.

I did Ten years working as a guard in Folsom State Prison. What a depressing place, only because of the administration. Left Folsom and became a Deputy. I was much more appreciated by the top brass and felt I served my community much better. I gave Phil & Stacy one of my old shoulder patches last year at the Tampa RV show. Real nice people folks if you ever get a chance to met them.

We stayed in a hotel in Santorini Greece and our room was a cave into the mountain. It was beautiful overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The bed was at the far back and even though the outside temps were in the 90s, the cave bedroom was so cool you needed the duvet cover. We were engaged there! Coming up to twenty five years ago now. Your stay away looks quite fun.

Eklund Hotel in Clayton, New Mexico. It was a step into past for sure. Road Runner Lodge Motel in Tucumcari, New Mexico. This on Route 66 and the decor is classic fifties and sixties. They had moon pies in the room with a radio playing classic radio.

Clifton is definitely on my “go to” list for when we revisit Texas. I work with the homeless population and most have spent some time in jail/remand so I can image what they brew, I have confiscated a few shanks though.

You should visit Brushy mountain state penitentiary in petross Tennessee. The prison has been closed for years. The owners have tours and a distillery, outdoor concerts and camping

Great video. Yeah, well in the brig or jail the jailers are not overly concerned about your dignity on the toilet or shower. Novel idea for a BNB. Thanks for bringing this to us. Sorry Phil, but im with Team Stacy!!! We've been to the Raw Hide in Arizona you can have you picture taken at one of thier jail houses, was really neat to go visit, also had gone to visit Tucson Arizona, the Ole Towne Tucson where they have the famous shoot outs there, and Big Nose Kate's Saloon, were you can take in onThe live music, have a drink at the bar, and also a meal. Went there for my birthday and my fiancé went to request them to sing a happy birthday for me, in front all of everyone there, I was so embarrassed, but it was a lot of fun, great visit!!!😊

I spent a day on an amphibious landing vessel during training to become a Marine Corps officer. The accommodations in your jail were far superior to the berthing areas of the ship. I never did find the gas fireplace or the bottle of wine that was put out for us during our short stay.

$225.00 to $260.00 to go to jail. WOW ! I think I will try to stay out of trouble in that town, so I don't have to visit that jail. If you ever get to Indiana, there is town called Rockville that you can stay in there jail to. It's fixed up real nice. You can look it up on the internet. Rockville is just about 40 mile north of Terre Haute, just off I 70. North. Safe travels .

I have never stayed but there is a shoe house.air bb in York county pa .this RU-vidr from pa (the wandering woodsman) was just there . Phil chocolate chip cookies 👍 the bathroom in that jail I hope they have a exhaust fan😂 . Phil you practicing your pie swing! Keep living life !
