@@raphaelturner1963 man 😂 what make you think they going to play up there? And plus these players just don’t be from the south they be from where they from that don’t mean nothing that’s just like they can’t beat the sec in the south bc it rains a lot and it’s really hot try again buddy
I think you’re over looking your first big match up.. going to the Big House vs a top 5 defense.. with arguably the two best DT combo in college football plus one of the best corners Will Johnson imo it will come down to Texas being able to run the ball.. if they can’t 3rd and longs against that defense will be tough but great match up
i hope it turns out that way where he has georgia playing texas in dallas. OSU had to play Georgia in Atlanta in a couple years ago. They played LSU in the New Orleans for a national title. Good to see it go the other way now
@@gnar7003new playoff is what did it for me, I’m shifting to college over nfl because the soft rules in nfl and they finally have a respectable post season set up.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Klatt, will listen to him talk ball all day… but does anyone else prefer him in a debate format? He’s at his peak when he’s babying Colin through morning talk shows. Need more of that
Nah he’s good on his own, very knowledgeable and intelligently makes his points. He’s good with Colin but this is the best College Football talk show out there
I'm a die-hard Buckeye, but i would absolutely LOVE to see another "Catholics vs Convicts" game! Anyway, just super excited that college football season is HERE! Can't wait to watch every game! LFG!! #Gobucks!
Me too I’m an ND guy and hate Miami with a passion..Ohio state is absolutely loaded and anything short of a title I think and it’s bye bye for Ryan Day.. he has everything that he needs. Great transfer QB in Will Howard and top level players all over the field..better than 2014 and 2002 teams that won it all.
@@di114n2the top 4 teams are winners of conference games... that's a 13th game being played. Teams that make the playoffs without playing in a conference game will have only played 12 games. You're basically saying the top 4 seeds should be forced to play 1 extra game than everyone else to win a natty. Doesn't seem like a good incentive for winning. And you know what can't happen when you're not playing.. a loss.
Joel, please continue to speak up about not having the bowl games in the quarterfinals. Make those bowl games a consolation prize or game for the teams who lose in the playoff. It's weird that the finalist have 2 big bowl game wins in one season.
Have nothing against them, they just lost too much and are practically completely starting over on offense. Experience matters and when you lose all of it at once, youre going to see a change and likely decline. You dont just randomly get a brand new offense that can play at the same level as the previous experienced, championship offense. I think it's very reasonable to expect Oregon to be really good again with the pieces they brought in to fill their need spots and tons of overall experience. It would be unlikely for Michigan to be in the top two in their conference IMO. If they can beat Texas that will greatly improve their chances but I just dont see that happening.
@@cameronmiller7980 you don’t know Michigan then so stop talking. They didn’t lose all their talent. They have a lot of the same depth on the offensive line that was playing last year. They have possibly the top tight end in college football returning on offense. Donovan Edwards returning at RB. People that glaze on Ohio State and try to sound objective all the while not being objective are hilarious.
I have never understood the love Miami gets every year. They haven't been relevant since 2001-2002. They always find themselves in the top 10 of the pre season rankings, and they do nothing all year long.
They have the same exact issue Texas A&M have/had. Great talent, big alumni support, top classes, etc. there is just something about both of them that no matter what, they lose way more games then they should on paper
The U(like all teams in Florida) have access to the best talent in the the country. College football historically is best when either the gators seminoles hurricanes(or combo) are competitive and relevant. Miami has had the talent but we've been lacking elite QB play. The U has a great chance to run the table and go into the playoffs undefeated!
Notre Dame hosting my broncos in the first round of the playoff is actually a legit possibility.. I don't think I realized that until I saw it on the board itself hahahaha. It's making things much more exciting and much more real! Stoked for this season!
@@irishcole3516 I would 100% agree that we have the pieces in the skill positions to do work... And our RB is an absolute dawg!! We'll see if we can put something together for a full game though... That's going to be a tough ask in Eugene lol
Will Howard did win the B12 actually. However, a strength of his is his size and mobility which wont be used in that offense and if youre relying specifically on just his arm...well he's just as likely to lose the game as he is to win the game on any given night. Thats not very effective for winning all the big games needed to be a champion.
Man I got so excited when he said Kansas in the conference title. I’m a Kansas fan and I know making it to that game would mean so much to KU fans. They are building in Lawrence
IMO there's no chance you beat Utah if you get there, but with your guy's super easy schedule and great coach, if you can get by Kansas State on the road you'll have a MAJOR shot at a conference championship berth! 🤷 Which for Kansas would basically be like winning back to back National Championships. 🤣
It really is interesting how certain paths are just so much easier then others. Getting that 5 seed might, no matter the teams, be the easiest path to the semi finals.
If Michigan’s offense clicks early enough that they can knock off Texas then imagine what mid season form will look like. I’m hoping as always that it comes down to the last Saturday in November. The way it should be.
im just not seeing it. i think theyre gonna have some ebbs and flows in the run game against Texas but the pass game is gonna really struggle which is why I expect Texas to win and will away in the 4th
@@cameronmiller7980 Maybe. It’s going to come down to can Texas establish the run against Michigans front seven which is one of if not the best in CFB. If they can’t run then they’re going to be passing on 3rd and long a lot and that’s tough sledding against Michigans secondary. I think Michigans defense is good enough to keep a struggling offense in the game. If they should struggle.
@@Est.1998 I don’t think it will come down to that. I can easily see a game where Sark can give up the run and use all of his pass combinations and formations and turn to commit to the pass like he did against Washington (and never should have when we were averaging 7 ypc against them). I agree their defense and being at home are valid reasons why they could keep it close but we’ll see. If Texas OL can establish a run game and Texas does halfway decent defending the run, I don’t think the game will be very close in the second half. There’s certainly still a possibility Texas abandons the run and can still win, that can’t be said for Michigan. The are more ways that Texas can pull out this win than Michigan.
@@cameronmiller7980 Michigan should be able to stop the run. So I don’t see a scenario where Texas faces 3rd and long all game and they still throw all over Michigans face from start to finish. They must run the ball well. I think Texas is going to have their hands full to tell u the truth. And everyone expects Texas to come out hot. What if they don’t? They could be a lot better by seasons end than in week 2 which we see with a lot of teams. Michigan could catch them sleeping. It’s not like Texas has been a perennial powerhouse that must be respected. Last year was last year. Other than that they’ve done nothing. We shall see.
@@cameronmiller7980 if Texas abandons the run, they are throwing against the number one cornerback in all of college football. A cornerback that would’ve been a top five pick in this year‘s draft. Good luck.
Can't argue with the stats - TX and OH are stacked as usual. We'll know a lot more after TX takes on MI in the big house. I agree with the Vegas odds = close game. Ewers is scary good - we'll see if he's good enough to avoid of the MI "D".
It will come down to Ewers make all the right plays.. mason graham and Kenneth grant are going to clog all run lanes don’t see Texas running the ball well at all..
Finally a College Playoff system giving all division I teams a legit chance to participate... and it only took 155 years to get here, (The last legit champion Rutgers beat Princeton in 1869 -> those were the only college football teams that year).
I don't get it. If Penn State had beat UM and OSU in the regular season, they would have been playing for national championships for the past few years. How does calling them a 9 seed and watching them lose to a better team yet again actually change anything? In what way were they not allowed to participate in the past?
@@princea5886PSU just isn't that good they haven't beaten anyone under Franklin look at their record against ranked teams they can only beat cream puffs
I don’t know, starting off the day with your team playing a huge game and having the rest of the day to watch the other games without being all wound up is pretty great
You heard it here first, TX loses to Michigan week 2. Ohio State loses to Oregon, MI and Penn St. SorryJoel but Ohio State won't get it done. Additional note, watch out for TN. Love the show!! Continue success. GO BLUE!!
Joel, you put forth a realistic possibility of the first 12 team playoff. I can quibble with you about the teams and seedings. The power of this RU-vid comes from your ability to cross a possible scenario with underlying subplots that makes this must watch TV to not only the college football junkies (me) but the average fan. I've always been excited for an expanded playoff; you just made it more so! Hook 'em!
Yeah, I don't think UT jr is as good this year as they were last year. I could be eating my words come November, but we'll see! I'm just excited for this season of football, it's gonna be amazing I think.
It’s definitely possible since they haven’t played in a long time and in the past Texas has beat georgia plus the location it would be at. They have been very competitive against the top SEC schools in very very recent years.
@@Viper-dn8ix Yeah they usually put up a good fight against higher opponents but will forsure be interesting to see how they do in the SEC. Everyone has high expectations, maybe too high i’ll admit
Why tf should Notre Dame get rewarded every single year for a cupcake schedule? Their two toughest games are USC and A&M. Neither are even a top 5 team in the B1G or SEC. Pretty ridiculous. Every time Notre Dame makes the playoffs or play an actual legit team, they get their 💩 kicked in. Either get in a conference or don’t go to the playoffs. Tired of them being overrated every year without playing anybody.
You are the best for college football! I listen to your podcast while driving. Something is wrong with the audio. It goes up then way down so I’m constantly adjusting volume.
This season is going to be amazing. I know that there is an element of tragedy with the separation of the top 25-40 teams and the rest of CF, but the product on the field is going to get better and better .
notre dame playing by different rules is honestly one of the funniest developments of 21st century cfb, i’m not saying it’s right or wrong i’m only saying it’s entertaining 😂😂
Not really sure how you see this as “different rules”. Teams joining conferences are doing so because THEY want or NEED to. NOBODY is forcing them to. Conference alignment is all about money and ND has PLENTY. That’s not to say they’ll never join one. However, don’t confuse your wanting ND to join a conference, with them needing to. Everyone will hafto play the same amount of games. So, there will be no advantage in that regard.
Don't worry, Joel. Utah vs Texas at the FIesta Bowl? Might as well call it a Utah home game because Glendale, AZ is not too far for us Utah fans. We'll fill that stadium with red.
You do realize Texas has a national following right? Texas alumni chapters in most major cities throughout the country. 50/50 attendance split most likely, maybe even 60/40 Texas crowd. The game can be in Denver, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Texas fans would still travel. You do realize not all Texas fans live in Texas right? I live in NH and I know many Texas fans up here in New England. I haven't met a single Utah or BYU fan up here....lol.
It ain’t it for OSU this year. Loses to us again, maybe twice in the playoffs… Ryan Day fired. OSU into a coaching tailspin and becomes irrelevant for 5 years while they rebuild. That’s all I want for Christmas this year
This guy loves Ohio state he picks them every year there defense should be good but there offense has questions at QB and O line which could cost them in the end
As a Penn State fan who hates them as much as anyone, I think it's a solid pick this year. I do agree with the questions at those position groups, but I really think them and Georgia are just a step ahead of everyone else talent and ceiling wise. And btw. Joel had Georgia and Michigan ahead of Ohio state in his pre season rankings last year so idk what you're talking about lmao
There were questions about O-line and QB in the spring but the analysts that go to practices have been saying the O-line will be really good and that Will Howard showed major improvement over the summer. Practice isn’t the same as a real game but the unbiased assumption based on what we’ve heard is that OSU is a complete team.
It’s crazy that when I was younger I would hear “ they don’t like FSU” but honestly since the lawsuit of Jameis and the new lawsuit against Acc and espn you really see the hate fr.
He is TOTALLY sleeping on Alabama. Don't care. Can't deny us when we win. Last year we weren't as good & won the SEC & barely lost against Michigan! It's laughable. Mark my words, this is Bama's year. Can't wait to prove it on the field. RTR BAMA FAM 🔥💪
I'm a Bama lifer, but still can't know. I'll be a little more sanguine if we get through Wisconsin, GA, TN, etc. with W's. But as of now, I haven't seen the product on the field yet. Here's hoping. RTR.
I know there's major differences but taking a page from some esports and letting the top 4 teams pick their opponents out of the crop of winning teams in the other games could be incredible, basically impossible to do but would be really exciting to watch
@chasejackson7248 The regular season has nothing to do with it or even the conference. Joel already has Bama in the playoffs. He is saying that if Joel was correct in his prediction, his pick of Oregon and Texas over Bama is odd. Last year DeBoer beat Oregon twice and Texas in the semi's with a lot less talents and support than he has at Bama. I believe in each of those games, Joel picked Oregon and Texas to win.... and here he goes again. Joel is a good analyst, but a horrible prediction picker.... same thing year in and year out. The anti-SEC picks of ND, OhSt, USC, Oregon and PennSt over and over just gets old.
Joel, loved the show. Agree 100% that it will be crazy good season and playoffs. Great analysis and can't argue much. One possibility is Texas is at 5 over Notre Dame due to SOS and committee not wanting a 3rd Texas - Georgia match up unless it is in final game. Thanks again!
Bama’s defense won’t depend on what we’ve lost. It’ll depend on what we have. We have the tools and coaching for an elite defense. Roll Tide Roll. Can’t wait for the season
I can’t wait for them to make the final 4 people really have no clue how good the offense will be by end of the season. Especially once they get wrote off if UGA or Tennessee beats them.
Joel, brother, you are GREAT! You are the MAN. I love the enthusiasm, and how can you not have a high level of enthusiasm this college football season. It’s going to be incredible. Now, I know at this point you couldn’t say it so I’m gonna say it for you. Colorado WILL win the Big12 conference championship and get that slot you have Utah in. You’d be hung up by your heels if you went there, so let me save face for you my friend, but will fall to Texas unfortunately, but there you have it. You can thank me later. 😉👌🏾
No, because I think it's gonna be A.It's a new coach with probably a new type of a system That is why they're gonna be probably a kid's e.Attempt seeder are close to it and not a three seed or two seed
Bama at 10 is the same reason Michigan is at 11. Both teams have lots of changes. Everyone making conservative picks. If Bama/Mich win one of more of the games people have them losing, both can be in the top 4.
Love ya, Joel. Spare me with the Miami, Notre Dame talk. We hype these programs up every year, but they falter. They are not the same programs from 20 years ago and its about time the national media starts treating them as such.
I agree especially with notre dame, but they do have a ridiculously easy schedule and might end up there, then get blown out by a decent team like they normally do
ND does not deserve as much criticism as Miami. Miami has had good recruits and done NOTHING in the last decade. At least ND has been a top 5-15 team consistently. I also know ND does not belong in the top tier of teams by any stretch of the imagination, but they are wayyy more consistent than Miami.
I love how much he's avoiding Georgia throughout this season. Tough schedule, really tough road games, tough semi, etc. I love it as a Dawgs fan. It's exactly what we need. Gonna be fun!
@@patentjt They lost everyone from that offense and were boat raced by Washington. Congrats on finally beating Iowa State and Texas Tech. I'm sure thats going to translate well to the SEC.
@FrankRammatra boat raced? Texas was 1 play away from playing in the national title game 😅 They return alot from that offense actually and probably has one of the top QB & WR rooms in the country. That offense is gonna be good
@@patentjt first off ewers sucks. nobody is scared of him. second your coach and program are notorious overhyped oversold under delivered disapointments. third look what happend to washington in the nc game when they played a real program. and yall couldnt even beat a pac school when u didnt deserve to be there in the first place and went out and proved it. nice brag bro. 8-4
@@FrankRammatra First off they weren't boat raced, they lost on the last play of the game. Secondly they didnt lose everyone on offense, literally almost the entire OL and QBs are back....so were two of the RB's that got a ton of play time late in the season. Not worried about losing two top tier WRs when theres multiple top tier WRs about to replace them anyways. You're mistaken (or just hating which is more likely) if you honestly think Texas is just gonna be bad lol. Theres a lot of good teams so yea they very well might not make it to the natty but theyre certainly good enough to be a true contender.
There will be scenarios - potentially this year, and all future years - that a team ranked #5-12 could be better than a team in the #1-4 slots with the conference champions getting 1st-round byes. For example, I would argue that teams #5-11 are all better than #3 Miami or #4 Utah, but...they won their conference (in this scenario). Makes the conference championships mean something. And also means just being the higher seed doesn't mean you're the favorite.
It doesn't matter that the Sec is so loaded this year with good teams. It actually further proves my point. Texas, bama, ole miss and uga all play a number of games against eachother as well. It's just simple math, the chance that teams end up with 10 wins seems very unlikely imo.
Wild and dumb imo. Same could happen with michigan and ohio state at some point. Takes away from the best rivalry in sports. Also, rivalries like TX/OK, AL/AU, etc. Could have it happen at some point.
regardless of the teams a 12 team bracket CFP is more fun than a 4 team BCS 12 to 8 quarter finals to the final 4 semi finals to the final 2 championship. To me the beauty of the 12 team CFP is we could see some major upsets occur, for example a top 4 Bye team (or teams) losing in the quarter finals
