It's amazing that these old stories mirror the same human defects as we struggle with today. Excellent presentation, thanks for these lessons in history.
I thought this was very well orchestrated, well versed, and extremely interesting. Nice piece of Texas history. You have the ability to draw your viewers (at least me) into the past with your illustrations and commentary. Sincerely appreciated this video, I'll definitely watch more! Thank you!
If you're referring to the Brownsville Riot, you're more than welcome to look at the evidence yourself. Here's the entire transcript of the trial, which was pretty thorough in terms of witnesses and evidence. texashistory.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metapth1136073/m1/10/ Interesting tidbit, Major Penrose also believed that some of his troopers snuck out of the barracks and killed civilians: a policeman and barman. Companies A, B, and C were on duty during the attacks. Penrose's objection was to McDonald's insinuation that he shielded his men. McDonald suspected the major because Penrose refused to handover the soldiers to the local authorities when issued a warrant from a local judge. That's when and why McDonald stormed the barracks to retrieve the suspects. As for the Conditt murders, it seems a fairly open and shut case. The evidence was overwhelmingly against Gibson in both trials. His near acquittal by the Bexar County jury certainly shatters your accusation of "racism." As for Captain McDonald, I didn't read any source which paints him as anything but civil towards the prisoner, Gibson. Throwing such an accusation with no proof, one might assume that you harbor some prejudices yourself.
