I've learned to not question Evan's designs. I'll think there's no way this slug is going to work. But they always do. I love dudes that think outside the box. He should be engineering slugs for a major ammo manufacturer. Laters.👍☮️

I loved the shot at the ballistic gummy bear, it briefly turned onto a gummy rabbit at one point. lol

Looks like a good slug. The fact that you were able to make those work in a pinch, speaks to the design. Other slugs probably wouldn't have done well with the field surgery method. Nice video, it's always fun to see a new Evan Perry slug 👍

Gentlemen, according to my Lyman Shotshell loadings book, the fastest 12 Ga round is 7/8 oz of shot on top of a short wad, with 37.5 grains of Dupont 4756 powder, which is a slow burning powder. It leaves the 30 inch barrel of my Winchester Model 12 at 1450 fps and is actually quite comfortable to shoot with the slow burning powder. For geese I load it with No. 2 shot and get consistent kills at 100+ yards. Consider trying this load. It is devastating at close range. Kind Regards, Dave in Michigan

Cast iron might be brittle but it's strong at the same time. I'm willing to bet it's going to be devastating, and accurate to everyone's surprise.

The simplicity of this round, now one of my favorite slug's out of the last couple years! If there's ever an ammo shortage, this could easily be produced in larger quantities. Awesome it will shoot okay out of both smooth bore and with rifling. Haha looks like one of those little plastic knobs in which I cannot put my finger on where I've seen that shape before, but yeah make a mold out of the little plastic knob thing I think he molded his shape from. AHHH I got it, the shape looks like he used a "Thru Hole Star Knobs" choosing the right knob dimension for 12-guage to make his mold from. Then sealed it up together with washer and screw in the bottom of the knob. These could be made really cheap, and if made with enough care for consistent reliability... A good round to have fun out shooting with some buddies while tearing stuff to shreds with solid cast iron! Be interesting to see these compared to normal slugs repackaging these the same way done in this video, and comparing factory slugs to these with same shells/powder load. Maybe future video ideas? Gather some of the best slugs from the last two years, and compare them to top notch factory made rounds. Set up a few different tests to try with each round and at the end chose the top 3 or something like best for penetration, best energy dump, best accuracy. Maybe best to do at the end of year as a round up for all the "best of the year" designs. Great content dudes, always love seeing what new ideas the community, and you guys come up with for the channel! Pretty wild indeed!

Granted, Evan submits some interesting projectiles for TFM to field test, but what impressed me the most about today's video is that Jeff was in full Adapt, Improvise, Overcome, mode and remanufactured the shotshells at the range without any shotshell loading equipment. Note to OG: As soon as the Cal Bal tees showed up in the TFM store I scored one.

Be interesting to see the same design cast in a denser metal than iron. Put a little more OOMPH into the impact.

As a native Texan who lives in an area many former CA residents have migrated to, I have met lots of great people who have escaped. I always tell them the same thing, "remember why you left, what caused the conditions that made you leave, and vote to keep TX a state others want to live in". Most of the people I've met from CA have all been very understanding, and wanted to leave for an extended period of time before things got really bad.

You're close, a new gel block weighs 17 lbs. It's amazing how Evan can cobble together slugs that work extremely well from seemingly random items. "You don't need to be a ballistic surgeon, but it sure helps" seems to fit this video.

Maybe we should start a crowdfund for a TFM mobile reloading facility, i.e., an air-conditioned work van outfitted with all the equipment needed for loading and reloading, + a video viewing/editing station, + stowage for all the miscellaneous odds and ends like the table, chronograph, various targets and misc. ethnic ballistic gels, etc. Something that could be rolled right out to the slug proving grounds.

The "You Spin Me Round" cover by _Dope_ I think is a timeless classic that does the original justice... and I can call Dope's a Classic now, being it's >22yrs old! _(jeebus!)_ ====== I wonder how these would've flown without the washer...? Whether that tail would've been enough to bounce around inside the shockwave to keep it stable, like you've shown us with other rounds. OR Have it be *just* the Star that's metal, and the tail+disc get cast/molded out of plastic or epoxy. Alternatively, since this is Cast Iron, which does like to fracture (albeit, surprisingly not, today!), I wonder if a hole could get drilled into the front, to facilitate creating shrapnel. BTW the description is missing a word! :} Seems you meant there to be a "how" in here: _"Again, I am surprised at well these flew." _

The problem with Evan's map is that they stop in Vegas. As for the slug, it looks like overpenetration wouldn't be a problem. I was hoping to find out what they were initially, they look familiar, but I'm stumped.

I lived in California for eight years. It sucks for firearm enthusiasts. The only way this guy gets access to certain weapons and ammunition, is because he's a law enforcement officer. Greg should be honest with viewers and let them know, that in California the average citizen would not have access to all those handguns on his channel. Even if they did, the magazines are limited to 10 rounds. And there's a 10 day waiting period. Screw that place, I'll never go back. Not even to visit
