Chase...dude, you did not mention at all the coaching changes during that time period since that 10 win season. That'll hurt ANY team. We had Tommy Tubberville for God's sake and look what he is doing now. Yeah.
Tech was up and down last year because they had a quarterback play the entire season with a severely injured throwing shoulder. If Behren Morton can stay healthy this year, they will win 9+ games.
I think we were up & down last season because we insisted Tyler Shough was the man over Behren Morton and Kittley took a long time to realize we had no passing attack and needed hand the ball to Tahj Brooks a lot more. Then you have the whole unable to develop OL situation. It is easy to blame it on QB injuries, which did cost us the KSU & BYU games, but poor O coaching and development were our problem. Hamby is gone and replaced with an experienced OL coach but Kittley is still the OC who never really spent time at the position level and learning as he goes at Tech. This is a big year for him.
He needs to establish his offensive identity quicker this year. He was back and forth, and contributed to 2 of the 3 loses at the beginning. Realization that Tahj had to be the bell cow was paramount. Really, only realized that once Shough went down. Also not utilizing Shoughs ground game more against Wyoming was tough to watch. Chase isn't exactly wrong, but also kind of a biased, unserious, take aswell he could have given Tech a 9-3 rating aswell but then voiced his opinions and I'd still take it very unseriously. Little bit of research can show you the amount of depth and athleticism is far better than previous years. It Sets them up for a nice solid year, unlike many teams of the past decade. Health and OL development is paramount for Tech This year. Also, crazy to consider, the last Tech QB to start an entire season was Patrick Mahomes. They have had TERRIBLE Qb injury luck, having to play 3 QBs each of the past 2 years. Side note: If you look at Tech offensive stats during the Mahomes era, they were literal video game numbers. If Kingsbury would have believed in Defense, even a little bit, it would have been a much different story.
@@user-ll6ye4qb9j Every thing about Shough in the Wyoming game was painful to watch. Realizing we should run the ball more started in the Oregon game when Tahj had 80 yards on 7 carries, but Kittley kept passing. I think OL development, or lack thereof was a bigger issue than health. Firing Hanby and hiring Clay should fix that.
We have the easy schedule because Oregon backed out of the game, yeah, I know the reason, but they still backed out. We only play 4 teams with a winning record in 2023 & 3 are on the road. While the schedule is favorable, finishing above 9-3 is a daunting task.
