I think the pressure and hits got their qb flustered so he missed other throws he usually makes. Rodriguez was next level. If he keeps doing that I hope he returns!

I haven’t rewatched it yet, but it seems a lot like we quit doing what was working in the first half in the second half. We were blitzing in the first half and got a ton of pressure on the QB (something we haven’t been able to do all season). In the first half we were running the ball. In the second half, a lot if 3 man defensive rushes and a lot more passing. It just seems like a lot of making adjustments when you don’t need to and not making adjustments when you need to with both of these coordinators. Also, the weird decisions of whether to go for it or not continue with Joey. The punt on 4th and 1 was a bad move. It worked out because of a missed field goal but that doesn’t mean it was right. Another trend with Joey is strange clock management. What’s up with the aggressive move down the field (which I was happy to see) and then failing to call the timeout with 7 seconds left in the first half? 7 seconds was plenty of time to take a shot in the end zone and still take the field goal if it doesn’t work. I mean, I hate to sound like I’m complaining when we’re 5-1, but the weird coaching stuff is concerning and really makes me wonder if this coaching staff has what it takes to get us back to the next level. With all that said…great game and a solid win on the road in the conference against a solid team. I’m a season ticket holder and after that ACU game, if you’d have told me we would be 5-1 this season, I’d have laughed in your face. Right now an 8 win season seems likely…crazy when you think about where we found ourselves after the second game.

You forgot Micah Hudson. Hard to say he’s gotten a fair number of looks, but he’s made the most of them. That was a great catch! I know you’ve asked who is going to sit if he’s going to get more reps. My question would be…who is better than him overall? Josh Kelly and who else?

1. I give Brooks a pass on the fumbles, they are rare and he does so much more. 2. Just like the 1st 2 games' lack luster performance are squarely the coaches fault, the 3 recent wins are the coaches having the good came plan and in game adjustments to win. The only negative on the coaching staff is that we are not getting a pass rush from our edge rushers, we may need to make a change there, but everyone else is starting to look like the coaching staff we expected in August.

I think one of the reasons Arizona lost is we have gone to those finesse linebackers. Gone are the days of Spencer Larson and Scooby Wright that could have stopped a 230 lb Brooks in his tracks at goaline. Arizona isn't making these goaline stands and he is just walking into the end zone. And the offenses are recognizing this like okay, these defenses are geared towards stopping the pass so they are really running the ball on them with success. All teams should learn from this and try to have at least 1 middle linebacker who's 245+ pounds that can stop the run and rush the QB without needing much help from the dominant defensive line because that's just what he does. I feel like The U of A is really missing that physicality at linebacker and that is one of the reasons that we lost.
