I shouldnt have come here.....its been so long......but i had to come back.... I *needed* a reminder...... of what Sooner Football looked like....... *One Day*......*OU will return to dominance*...... *Hopefully*.......
I was at college gameday for this game. When I was walking out, a Tech fan with a Graham Harrell jersey on and a Tech flag in his hand was screaming "Your gonna get it tonight!!! Start crying now!!!!" and stuff like that. An OU fan next to me said "He'll be drunk and passed out by kickoff" LOL at that Tech fan
Have you ever noticed that OU never "rushes the field" after a win? They EXPECT to win. It is always the other team (like at Tech when OU lost) that goes crazy. Also...key point here: Did you notice that OU finished scoring with 14 minutes left in the game?! They could have scored at least 75 on Tech that day, maybe more. But that year, we always pulled up. Sam Bradford probably sat out the 4th qtrs. 90% of the time that year...if not, Lord knows how many points OU could have scored?!!
Matt Dickey OU still could have beat Florida that day. It just came down to coaching. OU had more than enough chances to take control of the game, but they let it get away. For example... running the ball at the goal line FOUR TIMES, when you have a healthy Jermaine Gresham (who Florida couldn't cover), and a Heisman Trophy winning QB... some things just never made sense.
Oklahoma is America's team.... They are always the power house every team dreams of one day beating... Alabama fears them and they're an OK team... They can't win every game but they win almost every game... Oklahoma, # America's Team....
"Sooner Magic" is a phrase I believe that started in the late 70's and described how the Sooners' athletes would make amazing plays at the end of games for comeback wins. It continued to describe them in the 80's as they would make some unexpected big plays at the end to beat my Huskers and prevent us from playing for a National Title. It was a great rivalry, and I'm sad to see it go. Good luck in what's left of the Big 12, OU. Keep beating TT and ut.
I'm not an OU fan but I really like Sam Bradford. He is one of the best quarterbacks I have ever seen. I hope he heals and gets back to the excellence he is known for. I believe that he will be a great pro NFL quarterback someday, if that is what he wants. OU may be down right now but you know that won't last very long.
Herbstreit was half-right when he said it would be a high scoring game. Also, I just wanted to note Iglesias juked some of TT's secondary out of their shoes on that touchdown run.
I was in 7th grade when I went to this game. I lost my voice lol. There was not one moment that whole game where everyone wasn’t yelling as loud as possible. Aside from halftime lol. 1 of the 2 Most intense/exciting football games I’ve ever experienced.
The only other game that compares to the loudness of the crowd at this game was when we hosted Nebraska in 2000 and took the #1 ranking the rest of the way to the national championship! One of my favorite games ever! 20+ year season ticket holder
Check out ESPN's "NCAAF" update (starting at the 11-second mark). Cam Newton suspended from Florida for stealing a laptop. Nothing against the man, and I'm glad to see he's straightened up and is doing wonders at Auburn, but who would have thought this quick update would come back around in 2010?
I've always noticed that most of the time Oklahoma wins a big game they don't just squeak by, they literally destroy teams by huge margins. No other teams, that I know of, do that as much as OU.
@texasownou usually that's true but not in this case, OU was trying to prove that they belonged in the national championship game by owning the #2 team at that time. Also, Sam Bradford was a top candidate for the Heisman so this secured the trophy for him. PS-I am an Auburn fan, not a Sooner fan.
just wait til the sooners come to Lubbock, TX next football season. there is gonna be a grudge and a vengeful mentality. that game is marked in red already.
we need a big year from murray because we dont have the offensive line to back him up anymore. I think we will be fine though our D should be pretty good next season.
Unfortunately, ABC/ESPN & BCS look at what they call "style points" especially in Nov. And I beleive that Tech was ranked #2 in the country coming into this game, not exactly panhandle state.
at least he has enough class to not come on to Texas's interstate rivalry and preach why his team should be in the championship not theirs. Brown I cant say the same for(Ok vs Ok st)
well, i know OU is losing the veteran offensive line, which is what has protected sam bradford for two years. with a new inexperienced line that's coming next year he will not be able to make big plays, and if bradford can't make plays, neither can grisham. it all goes to the roots of the team
"We're not spoilers anymore, we belong in this game. We will show 'em we belong in this game!" quote from Scam Harrell the week before the game. Yeah, you really showed 'em, didn't ya! BBOOMMMMEERR SSOOOONNEERR!!!!!!!!
@abcsci if you are refering to when tech beat us in o9 then you must not have known that was one of our worst years as well sooo ya it sucked but not as bad as your team im gonna geus its texas 5-7 year
Not to take away anything from OUs superb job in this game but Tech looked not concentrated and out of rythem. I played quarterback in texas during highschool and thats what happened to us. we beat our district "best" team and then we beat some other good things but when it came to the last 2 games we won but we were fatigued. i was watching tech in this game and they look real out of rythem and with OUs amazing performance it adds insult to injury. hookem horn!
OU made tech look like an fcs school out there, great job by the sooners but i didn't like when it was 52-14 throwing a bomb, but i guess if you need the stats for the Heisman then go ahead
I am a huge OU FAN, and that game was off the hook, Texas Tech sucked bad, but you know OU is the best team in the world, i live in Missouri and i get all kinds of stuff said to me because i don't like the tigers, Chase Daniel over rated big time, Sam Bradford is 1000 times better then Daniel, I'm not a big tigers fan at all.... but to each his own, ROCK ON OU,
big 12 titles has nothing to do with the class of the coach. the only reason ou got to the big 12 championship was because Stoops has no class and runs up the score while Brown takes out Colt in the 4th quarter. oh and by the way, texas knows how to finish off the season, ou chokes at the end...always
im not a tech fan. im just saying that bob stoops runs up the score intentionally. running up the score is classless, but thats what bob stoops does. i mean seriously your up by 44 theres no need for your FIRST STRING quarterback to be throwing touchdowns by then.
texas tech had a really bad day there morale was down and michael crabtree had been hurt from the kansas game witch texas tech humiliated.and second texas tech played tech at there home. try playing them in a the las vegas bowl.
Lol oh Tech's victory today was so sweet :) 41-38 Texas Tech dominated #3 OU and snapped they're 39 home game winning streak! Say bye bye to BCS title hopes!
@soonerscott2007 So if Tech beats the 2011 #3 Oklahoma team on they're way to a BCS National Title hope... on the road at OU, then i can i brag? I think so! WOOOOOO TEXAS TECH DOMINATED OU!!!
no its called the bcs is gay, u recieve more votes for killing a team then just winning, we needed it to keep the 3 way tie, and no matter what, how is it classless?
