After rewatching I’m not worried at all about all the negatives that I was while watching live. Yes it was frustrating at times offensively but honestly just some small mistakes & communication errors that happened to compound on each other. Those will get fixed with film. 9/10 times we win this game 52-10 or so & people aren’t freaking out… expect to see a well oiled machine next week. 🤘🏻
The thing with our OL, is the run blocking wasn't great last year, it was one of the worst in the league. Our RB's having that many broken tackles wasn't because they wanted to, they had to. It's a little better this year, but we were getting pushed back by Rice, not a great look. But I don't think it was as bad when I was watching live. As for Ewers, he needs to settle down and go through his progressions and try to extend plays with his feet to get guys open. He also needs to wait for his guys to actually break. That Brooks drop was on Brooks, but the pass came out way too early and he had zero pressure on him. Defense played lights out, thought I will say there was a lot of plays where better QB's would hit some of those WR's and they would be completions but they came out the gate with some attitude. Plenty to keep getting better at. Unfortunate that Hutson wasn't available for the game, Campbell did okay, hope his injury is nothing serious. Also on the RB's, Brooks, Blue and Baxter looked great out there. Glad Murphy got some snaps, looked good. Needs to lessen some of the zip on his passes. Otherwise he went good.
Definitely left some points on the field. QE doesn't slip on first drive, we probably score. JB24 drop inside the 10. On the drive where JT and JWhit collided. Next play QE tried to throw a seam route to JT. AD Mitchell was WIDE open. Missed deep ball to Worthy that went out of bounds. Second team O had first and goal from the nine and penalties backed them up. There's more but those missed opportunities still resulted in TDs on those drives (Deep ball to Worthy in 1st and deep ball to AD5 in the 3rd)
Thanks Nash, you're fantastic! Love your every play videos.....Idea, can you do a 'Bama/Middle Tennessee every play? Even thought it's not Texas, it's probably of great interest to Texas Fans. Because when they watch it, they'll see stuff that will keep Saban up every night THIS WEEK.....
I don’t mind QE dinking and dunking, Colt made a career out of it. OLine just needs to give QE another second to set his feet for the long ball. These are fixable. As long as I’ve been a fan (20+ years) we have a very bad habit of playing down our foes and playing up against better competition (ie LSU, Georgia, Bama). I trust our coaches so here’s to hoping we take down Bama!
I’ll say this I was pissed on Saturday but now watching again Quinn’s feet are still just as awful on deep ball as last year but the offense would have scored more if they didn’t hurt them selfs we can still win 10 if they fix their mistakes
Quinn has GOT to put more air under his deep throws. He threw them all short and it caused the receivers to have to slow down to attempt the catch, only giving the defender time to catch up to the receiver and disrupt the catch. If there’s one thing we need to fix for the Bama game, it’s Quinn’s deep ball. Ethan Burke was a missed tackle from having TWO sacks this game!!!
Rice hit the QB a lot this game, what do you think the Alabama front 7 will do. Hopefully the QB doesn't get hurt again because I'm certain his bell will ring a few times in this game 💯
Ewers main issue on deep balls this game was being late. If he just gets rid of the ball one second earlier and shows some anticipation, it would make a huge difference.
Worthy looks like he’s added some good weight without losing any speed. Still a skinny guy but now he doesn’t look like he’s going to break in half when he gets hit.
Defense looks amazing, I feel like our defensive line was one of the most impressive things of this game, they were getting pressure on Daniels so fast, and the secondary was flying to the ball, one thing I will say though is that our O-line looks a little iffy, they were like one of the best coming into the year and it didn't look the best... I feel like our offense will be fine and it was still effective with a vanilla playbook, Ewers has to be better on the deep ball and put some more power on some of his throws... he's amazing don't get me wrong, but I don't know how you keep maalik murphy off the field, he's special
