Dad and I used to chase these HUGE schools of WB that were chasing like sized schools of shad out in front of Falcon Lake State Park. I'm talking they covered half of a football field sized area. They would break and sound several times in 5 to 10 minutes... Great times!
Hey brother! Fellow white bass chaser from the 417. If you want to try another bait that’s a trusty one try a Charlie Brewer Slider pearl white with chartreuse tail on a 3/8 to 1/4 oz jig head. That’s my go to for when these whites are full running. Love the content!
never been white bass fishing until I went with my dad and his friends and a guide on Lake Somerville near Brenham in April 2022. It was awesome! Altogether we caught a hundred! Yes a hundred! Lol which means I caught about 20 more or less. I lost count. Haha we trolled for them using a Luhr Jet Diver and a Pet Spoon. I mean wow what a day. And if I may tout the guide service Hookedup Guide Service out of Lake Somerville!
Bro...new here. Found you cuz I'm about ready to bust ice out whites this weekend. Love your character and desire to share and teach. Will certainly watch everything you do.
Love it man going to school and making these videos man that’s a good life you tell Miss 903 you are out fishing lol I saw the emojis she put up yesterday lol
Here in GA they run up rivers and creeks in the winter and will spawn as early as January they are one of the first fish to spawn same with stripers ect....
Always like your videos, I have a lot of respect for you being a teacher as well. I didn't know that until I read your response in the comments. Much respect!
That's awesome to see they're running already I look forward to it every spring myself. I've been trying them little white rooster tails myself through the years but I might have to give that grub a try. God bless Y'all and much peace and love brother 🤠✌️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸✨🧸✨
Nice video! You are spot on with eating crappie vs white bass :) I got the White Ice Fluke Jr & Yum Curly Tail Grub in my tackle box; I was able to try the Fluke last Saturday and didn't a single hit in the span of an hour. I'll be trying again soon! Thanks for all the fishing tips!
There's nothing more satisfying than proving the "traditionalists" wrong. Whenever someone tells me I can't do something a certain way I always look at that as a challenge to prove them wrong. I've seen some pretty small bass attack some pretty large lures. Because of this video and the other one you did about where to fish for white bass where you showed the fluke, I'm thinking about trolling larger baits for the white bass myself.
Great video Bro! I agree on the bigger baits, we were catching Crappie with those flukes last weekend! 😂 They weren’t biting, so I had a 3” sassy Shad and tied it on and BAM!!! Slabs Bro! In reality they feed on real bait fish about that size, fish have that suction action when they bite, I’ve cleaned crappie and white bass and have found 3” baitfish in their stomach
Pulled 12 out of canyon creek out here near Kingwood using your setup today. That white grub worm put in WORK! Got a few 2 pounders on the white ice fluke jr too.
@@903fishing god if only u came down to south dakota I will guarantee to put u on some 14 to 16 inch slabs and 18 & 19 inch monster female whitebass aling with some jumbo perch and big wallies!. Theres a no limit of Whitebass here in SD
Great video. I need to give those lures a try when we get the white bass run on the salt river here in Kentucky. Gonna start getting ready for it this weekend so I'm rigged up for when it comes
@@903fishing. Yeah. I've heard that it usually hits around the first or second week of April. Just ordered some of those grubs. Caught em in Florida and they're good eats but I agree crappie is better
You are killing them white bass on the swim bait you’re definitely getting me excited too bad here in Northern Illinois we still have ice on the lakes and rivers but soon enough we’ll be out there chasing them
Definitely going to my local creeks when I'm home!! I know they in there!! Hey man them green grubs the same as that white one will tear them things up!!
Awesomeness ,, I could get into this in a big way , I wish We had this species in south Mississippi ,As Many Oxbows, Creeks And The Rivers Here I Would Think Would Be The Perfect Habitat For Em , They Did A Striper Release As An Experiment Many years Ago on The Pascagoula River System To see how they would adapt to the water Here but for some reason they just didn't Do Well ,you do catch one From time to time but it's rare ,as much As I've Fished the River over the Last 40+ years Ive only Caught about 6/7 the biggest was 11 pounds ,A 9 pounder , the rest Being in the 3 to 5 pound Range all caught on White Spinner Baits , I used a Ole White H&H with the Double Spinner Alot Back then , the biggest I caught on a white Sally double Spinner on round one willow leaf blade ,All on the drop off ledge of a big River Sandbar where the water went from maybe 3 to 4 ft down to 8 to 12 ft or Deeper , and the majority of them was from one location , I had a couple of Sandbars we would float by and fish them looking for a largemouth , Great Action on the Grubs , I use em down to the Coast Some For Flounder ,, Stay Safe And keep it Reelin Brother 💦🐟🎣🤠
Yes sir I am going back and forth with using 6 pound mono. The hybrids will run with them as well, and I don’t know if I want to take the chance running 6 pound mono with 8+ pound hybrids lol will more then likely go up to 8 possibly 10 just to be safe. Thanks for watching! God bless
I’ve looked everywhere for the 3” Zoom Fluke Jr and all I can find is 4”. Are you sure you’re using 3” because I can’t even find them on the Zoom website. Please help me out!
There is a place in Three Rivers about 1 hour south of San Antonio. Go to the park where the spillway(waterfall) is and fish there. When the fish are running that place is full of people. After the whitebass run is over the gaspergou run.
Me and a few guys caught a hundred white bass on Lake Somerville near Brenham off a boat, trolling. But there are countless lakes to go to nearer to you and in and around San Antonio. Canyon Lake for example has fish but I think is more of a boater tourist lake but yah you can fish it. Lake Buchanan is somewhere over there. Lake Travis. Smaller lakes that might be less busy and not as pressured. Down south on the border, Lake Amistad, my dad had a few great trips there too.
And a ton of public lakes if not all public lakes in Texas have bank fishing access. Some better than others, sure yes but most any publicly accessible lake you find will allow bank fishing.
oh you meant just fishing in general, lol, thought you meant white bass specifically because of this video. Yah, again, there’s tons of public spots, yes even in and around San Antonio besides what I mentioned in my other comments. The main idea in Texas is figuring out whether a pond or a lake or a creek is privately owned or if it has public access. I recommend google mapping it for spots and then find out if the spot is public or private. Definitely lots of state parks over there, near San Antonio, Georgetown, Austin, Bastrop, et cetera, off of I-35 and i-95 and other major roads, not too far off the beaten path. Tight lines and good luck!
Hey man loving your videos. Me and my 10 yr old daughter are both trying to learn how to fish. We went out last year to Denton creek and didn’t land even a single hit. 2 other guys next to us got at least 2. Do you take newbies out? My daughter and I are trying to become more outdoorsy. Fishing to me sounds like the best way to get out and have quality father daughter time while learning a helpful skill. Thanks again! I’m planning on taking her out tomorrow to Denton creek again
Hats off to you man keep trying you'll get it.I tought myself how to hunt and fish. Some of my best memories are with my daughter and I hunting and fishing together
Been watching your videos you do a good job. I'm learning the crappie deal..Glad to see you fish for sand bass is what we call the in north east oklahoma..I'm wanting to take my kids out this year. I haven't fished for a few years now...so looking for some new gear.. seems like your using the ACC rods.. what rod was you using on this video. And would you use it for crappie to? Looking for something for both.
Here in the 936 area they have been bitting since 1st week of Jan between 4 we got 100 sand bass 2 weeks ago and about 10 to 25 alone other dates but what I noticed is coworker with lews crappie rod and reel was catching more often so I bought a reel with same gear ratio and my hooks ups increased big time cheap yellow head and clear yellow curly tail from Walmart and the all yellow or fluorescent red and yellow road runner marabou is the top choice lately seems you have the sienna 1000 which is the exact gears as the lews idk but the speed matters here lately
Yes! They love that bait moving slowly by them. Always have. That is the sienna 500. Which is a little smaller then the 1000 series. Great combo. Thanks for watching and commenting! God bless
I am about 3-4 miles away. Always some that go up early. Then there will be a big blast of them, and then always some that come up later. Thanks for watching! God bless
Nice! I’ve been waiting for someone to tell me the spawn is on lol. How can males be ID’d so quick on sight? Or is it just assumed only males are in the creeks this early
They will be longer and more narrow. The females will be over all bigger and have eggs. They are very visible. And yes males do go in the creeks before the females to get nest ready. Same as crappie.
Both species often have broken lines and some lines extending to the tail. The ONLY true way to tell the difference is the tooth patch on the tongue. Whites have a single tooth patch and wipers have 2.
