Hey Alex! I believe you left a similar review in another video with a great observation! When doing my fade, whether I’m fading up or down, I tend to use my guards open and closed, but with the exception of the 0.5 guard. When I’m comes to detailing however, I play with the lever as needed to get rid of dark spots or accidental lines that may have been made. That all being said, I use the above as a “guide” rather than a strict set of rules. This is because everyone’s hair and head is different and as barbers we often have to make minor adjustments to our systems to the client in the chair.
