Panic Attack is just another MvM weapon. It joins the ranks of Phlog, Natascha, Fan of War and other shitty weapons that nobody actually uses without MvM upgrades.

Ster seems kind of just angry and hateful during the entire video. I imagine it's probably due to boredom and disappointment in TF2 and the apparent increase in haters. Seriously, guy, if you don't want to make TF2 videos, just don't. Sure, you'll go down in views a bit, but if you make a dumb video on a dumb game then it will probably eventually gain views over time. Increase if you do it with Jerms.

You just don't get it Star! Can't you see all the advantages in having to wait 3 extra seconds to fire 4 shots with a shotgun even though you'd be able to fire all 6 shots with the stock shotgun faster? Clearly you have a lot to learn regarding this game!

I know that Ster wasn't in the best place when this came out, but man does it take me back. I remember watching this lying in my bed the day it came out, and now it's 9 years old. Where does time go?

It was nice to see a gameplay with the panic attack directly compared to one with the regular shotgun and proofs my guess on the biggest problem with this gun (haven't got the chance to try it out myself, yet): it's basically a secondary weapon meant to be used as a primary since you always have to have it out and reload to shoot. Not like the regular shotgun where you switch to it at shoot right away in case your rocket launcher runs out of ammo or so. And something to the people complaining about how bad star_'s videos get cause he's bored of tf2 or whatever: don't know about you, but at least in this one it somehow seemed like he had some fun playing....

This thing either needs to have the preloading mechanic removed, or fire all preloaded shots in one big blast.

You have to take charge because none of the other soldiers or demomen have the brainpower to spam. So if you're playing some sniper or scout you have to switch despite the fact that there are already 3 soldiers on your team all simultaneously doing nothing.

Gonna be the first one here to make a single comment relating to the damn video -_- but I feel like STAR_'s just using it wrong. It's supposed to be a retreat weapon. You're less on health, so you run around the corner, load up, and fill that cheeky pyro who thought he'd finish you off full of lead. That being said, it's still dumb.

Fuckin youtube algorithm knew that this was the same map as the jerma video i just watched.

A weapon called "The Panic Attack" should be a straight simple double-barrel shotgun. 2 shots, double fire rate, like soda-popper but without the hype-jump meter. Something for every shotgun-secondary class. Trade capacity for two rapid shots, good for finishing off where one shotty blast isn't quite enough. But the actual weapon we have is NOT for "panic" attacks. It doesn't work in a panic, you have to whoop it out and THEN load it. That means you have to use it in the precise opposite scenario, with great foreplanning. Panic Attack could do with being entirely deleted from the game and started again from scratch. Something like NO reloads, based on how the weapon has a drum it's "extra" ammo IS it's whole clip size. That makes sense in a panic, good for whooping out as as long as you have ammo, you can fire this gun. To hell with fire-rate and spread changing with health. That is annoying as fuck and impossible to balance. Balance this with the weapon being much weaker (6 pellets) though bit tighter spread. Something in between a stock shotgun and the shortstop, with a slightly higher fire rate, something like 120rpm rather than the stock shotgun's 95rpm. That would actually make the Panic Attack almost a direct clone of the original Quake shotgun which was weak but could be fired continuously at about 120rpm with no reloading. If you are wondering how this would play, then play quake 1, it would play like that.

Watching this again in 2019. It's funny to see how shit the Panic Attack was on release. I was there when it came out, too. Nowadays it's a really awesome sidegrade to the Shotgun if you get right in the meat, since the first shot can do quite a bit of damage. Though it lost its uniqueness due to that change...

Aaand cactuscanyon is still in beta. This level of lazyness is not good. At all. Who made this map? Can you fire him and make someone else step up and finish it already? And as a plus, it's interesting that Ster says in a joking manner "I was gonna retire", then he does actually retire from TF2. Granted, this wasn't his last TF2 video, but it also "it all went downhill from here".

What I think: The low health mechanic, with the larger spread, is meant for times of need, say you have no ammo in your primary, and you have multiple people after you, you could use the low health mechanic, faster reload means no waiting till you have time, no you just shoot multiple dudes at once, hence "panic attack" as you use it in time of panic or when you are having a panic attack because you don't wanna die.

I miss Cactus Canyon :(

The panic attack only works if you have a panic attack in real life seeing a enemy come out of nowhere.

I think I had a funny story from back in the day when I was using this gun. Gun Mettle came out and I wanted to use the Panic Attack. I was gifted one and I decided to put it on Soldier and decided to go onto Cactus Canyon with this video playing in the background to give me inspiration. Somehow... I got to the top of the scoreboard using nothing but the Panic Attack and dying a lot. I still managed to beat the enemy.

Me in my personal opinion, the panic attack is not good but not to bad. It's somewhere in between. If it had a bigger damage boost, it would be good. Also good to see you making tf2 videos again, hope to see more in the future.

To me the panic attack serves more as a defensive ambush weapon, where you only whip it out when you've got someone on your tail, load it up, and then blast them directly in the face.

Star personally (and I think a lot will agree with me when I say) I enjoy your videos more when you just go with the flow of the game rather than have some arbitrary rule such as only using the panic attack. During the first half of the video it was extremely depressing and it made me feel sick, but when you started doing your usual thing that you were comfortable with it quickly brightened up. Take care.

I find that you have to play like a scout as in strafing with a & d rather than aiming with your mouse. It seems to have the sweet spot between firing speed and spread when you are at about half health. Even then, it isn't great but just like any other weapon in the game, it has potential to be good if used for a long time by the right person. Thanks for the vid star, keep it up.

Halfway through the video, I forgot it was about the Panic Attack.

i think you have only to use this weapon as a finisher if you used your rocket launcher and dont have time to reload it and use something quick since the guy is firing at you so you loose quite some healt , i think it can be also used as an escape weapon like you are at low health and go search the health kit but theres an ennemy going for you so it can help you

I thought the shell loading was a possibility, but after crafting soon found out that it kinda sucks, as yeah it doesn't really work as a shotgun, I honestly hope they will change it's stats, still a badass weapon.

Most people don't know how to use the panic attack. This weapon is used against heavier classes such as the heavy and soldier or anyone else who is chasing you with a me lee weapon. For engineer the gun is used for taking down heavies while they are being distracted by your sentry. It will eradicate the heavy much faster than you turtleling your sentry. This can be very useful against a pocketed heavy. Get close for max damage. As a soldier and your rocket launcher has no ammo in its clip, turn a corner and let your opponent chase you. The faster weapon switch and faster reload will allo you to spray in the enemies face. Remember that the faster weapon switch is only when you switch to the Panic Attack. So best throw your shots at a distracted heavy then switch to your enemy to inflict fast and powerful damage. This weapon is all about flanking the enemy team and can eliminate enemies quick before they notice that your there and have a chance to escape. Use it to your advantage.

Man, all the people saying Star isn't having fun in this video clearly haven't seen his other live commentaries. This is classic, and I love it. Everyone seems to think it's just pure anger but he's expressed this type of "anguish" in other videos where he uses awful weapons, and the Panic Attack is one of the worst.

The Panic Attack looks badass though and I would love to change the default shotguns to look like it myself.

The reason why weapons like these are made for the game is to make people insecure. If someone can master a shitty gun like this, it means they're really good. So if someone is ever killed by this shitty gun, they feel like they suck.

The panic attack should be already loaded with 4 shells then after m1 is pressed all 4 of those shells will fire at once, just a thought.
