I thought to myself "There's no way this can emulate the quickplay experience" But when I got sent into a server devoid of players and full of bots I realized that indeed, Quickplay is back
I respect the attempt and you have done more for the tf2 community then most people. The issue. It put me on Uncletopia with 200 ping every time. Uncletopia is not tf2. It's diet comp. I want vanilla tf2 (not your fault) we need more vanilla tf2 servers around the world. The biggest issue with this community Quickplay. That's it need majority of players to use it. (also the lack of true vanilla tf2 servers is painful) This is not a substitute for the original Quickplay and sadly. Only valve can bring it back. Edit: Community Quickplay got updated. Check the replies below.
@@manitoba-op4jx I don't really play Uncletopia anyway, but what's the problem? I have my own issues with Uncle Dane and his opinion that TF2 should be a sweaty comp experience like CS
@@yipflaptheexecutioner6519 Just not a very friendly and casual community. Pretty much every time you go on there you have some guy raging in vc about something. As the OP said, its Diet Comp. EVeryone takes the game too seriously there and if you're ever friendly or bottom scoreboarding you'll get made fun of.
@@Rainedropss Plus class limit and no random crits or bullet spread. I never realize how those things spiced up the gameplay of tf2 until i played on uncletopia. uncletopia Is boring.
is there a way to put in your party's size? id love to see a way to get put into a not completely full match so that your friends can join off of you too. the hardest part of using the community server browser is getting space for your friends to join
THANK U SO MUCH Ive wanted quickplay back for so many years i urge many poeple to tell their friends about this and many community servers wouldnt be that dead anymore
Ik others have spoken about this but imo if you want to emulate the quickplay experience then you should use consistent server settings. I feel like one big issue with servers like uncletopia is that it could lead to a vastly inconsistent experience. I see people mentioning "tryhards" and what not but I don't think the playerbase is the real issue with servers like that. But more so the fact that uncletopia has class limits and settings like sv_pure 1. While it's expected for community servers to vary a bit, I do think it could be a bit jarring get thrown into servers with some major differences between them. Random crits are more take it or leave it since they don't really change the core of the game but class limits are an instantly noticeable difference from the vanilla game. And going from a sv_pure 0 to sv_pure 1/2 server can instantly cause tons of errors and crashes for the player. It's an extremely broken and unstable feature and imo it would be better to enforce server consistency for things like that too. But the fact that it mostly sends you to uncle dane's servers sort of illustrates another potential problem. Populating community servers have always been the big issue when it comes to things like this. I'm not saying it's impossible but I have a feeling it will really struggle to fill non-populated servers. It's not really something I think you can easily fix because it's more of a problem valve created overtime. It's kinda obvious why its a "join uncle dane" button right now, but at that point you might as well just favorite those servers in the server browser. I do really like the idea, but I honestly think it might be better to work on a much more user friendly server browser with a lot more filters and options to customize. Perhaps something that aims to recreate quickplay in some regards like the superior interface but not necessarily quickplay as it was, which I can only see working out if community servers were more populated in general.
It uses a ping scoring system to prefer servers which are predicted to have a lower ping to you, but it isn't a strict limit. Amount of players can select a server even if it has a medium ping. I will be adding more settings/controls in the future to help, but this is a first start where I wanted to get testing on the core stuff.
Hi I enjoyed your way of bringing quickplay back but I would like to suggest some stuff 1. skial servers should be removed as they give players weapons that are not easily accessible and have been forcing me to go back to their server when I pressed payload 2. Sometimes the game doesn’t even work for quickplay by me using the mod that restores the 2012 menu and adds a quickplay button I don’t think it’s a issue
If only we can convince that one guy who worked on TF2 about bring the Quickplay back on the TF2. This would solve atleast fix cheating bot problem. But there’s also an issue of region servers. Quickplay is nice but it does sometimes puts you into a game where ping are just u unbearable. Which I think, they should make a Quickplay back but still region lock like Casual. Basically they look at your IP and ping, then the system outs you into any available Community servers that has identical Ping low latency from your IP.
ya It had some problems at first but now it works pretty damn good I did some testing and I consistently got put in games with under a 100 ping my number 1 criticism is it usually puts you in Uncle Topia which is a fucking sweat fest but hopefully that'll get better as more casual refugees join using this
This would be better if there were more vanilla servers that were actually casual, and not sweat-fests like Uncletopia and Skial. Those servers are borderline unplayable if you're not particularly great at the game. Even then, it just isn't fun to play against 12 players that treat a casual game like if they don't win they're going to get executed. I highly support the development of this project and wish it the best, but the community needs to build more servers that cater to the casual audience if this is to succeed long-term and gain a proper following, especially considering most of the people that will be exposed to this or know about configs in general already have these servers on their favorites lists.
There's lots of casual servers I didn't know existed which quickplay has now surfaced for me! In fact, near after an announcement, there was a default TF2 server (Red Heavy's Shack) that got entirely populated by people from quickplay!
Don't worry friend, there isn't Community servers have thier own anticheat systems normally The reason why casual is effected so harshly is because those are valve servers exclusively
There isn't. Bots use casual's party matchmaking to join in groups, whereas with this they can only really join 1 at a time. Even if they do all get in at the same time, a community mod can just ban them and their IP instead of waiting for the slow votekick process.
@@NotSnak the cope for MYM is unreal. like what i don't get. that when we say what casual removed and say it caused X problems by removing that feature, those same people say to bring it back but not quickplay. WHY are we remaking a worst Quickplay??, are people egos this big. that they won't admit that it was a mistake. it been 8 years. i just want to play tf2.
Overrated feature that got glazed recently because of the lack of updates IS NOW BACK, half-assed and won't work 90% of the time?? WOWIE!!1 Take all my reddit wholesome seal awards kind stranger!
