style points mostly, do you know satisfying it is to flick from one corner of your screen to the other to obliterate a soldier who is trying to jump you?
a lot of people have a habit of twitching their hand away from their opponent when aiming, so some people try to twitch towards them so they can actually hit people. i suck at that technique though.
@@mishlimon98 On x10 servers, you can have up to 80 stickies with the Sticky Jumper, so if you want to try out old Sticky Jumper for the hell of it you can do that and more.
I'll never forget this specific game of tf2, and it was because of the sticky jumper, funnily enough. I was on offense on the second point of Dustbowl (as a demo) and as soon as the round started, I flew past the enemy team and into their backline. After my team got the first point, I back capped and no one on red was fast enough to stop me. One of my favorite games of tf2 for sure.
The sccotish bottle or something i don't remember the real name should be a demo market gardner and the pirate boots should be like the boots of Soldier that let's you strafe e bit better in the air
Elmaxo is severely underrated, and he has earned my respect by sticking with the grind by making well edited videos and good content, and staying up late to make sure his video's are polished to release them at fucking 5 AM.
one thing that makes the rushing spawn strategy effective is a factor that is hard to quantify. The psychological impact. There is nothing more tilting than spending 30 seconds waiting to respawn only to get blown up as soon as the spawn doors open. Especially if it happens multiple times in a row.
The reason why this weapon is so widely forgotten is because the devs have kind of made it to be forgotten. Like even sticky jumping in general there’s the gunboats, air strike, market gardener, liberty launcher, man-treads, there’s so many different unlocks for soldiers and rocket jumping but since demoman lost the war update he got his character split in half with normal demo and demo knight so it always feels like there’s nothing or no one ever encouraging you to sticky jump.
I still remember my first mann co purchase. The sticky jumper and a key (that unboxed a strange shotgun) Back then, the jumper looked like a normal sticky launcher and the stickybombs scared people. I learned to sticky jump with enough precision to land on the wood stick poking out of the side of blue 2fort 100% of the time by airstrafing.... while holding W, because wht would i let go of it??
Dude I just started "experiencing" the sticky launcher this week The thought process was something like "waaait a minute, flying demoaxe?" And well, the rest is history. 300 mph demoman with an axe and a parachute dropping medics and scouts at the back line (100% crits, of course) Also the loose cannon is (just like you said in your video) really fun to 1 shot scouts and snipers. Btw great videos mate
Bro, this is so sad. You know I got the sticky launcher first other than the rocket launcher. I got it as a f2p newbie (still a f2p) and I used it thinking it could kill people lol. But when I found out that you can jump with sticky I kept doing it for hours doing a bit of trolling 😏 . It gives me memories of the times I died and the times I kill people with my bottle. I can play with this for hours and hours and hours and it would still be my favourite tf2 item other than pan.
okay this resonated with me pretty deeply lol, the last week has been filled with me flying past the enemy team and manically laughing to myself as I bottle snipers from behind
I love how TF2's player count has basically stayed the same from 2012-2020 but then 2021 is so alive there was not 1 but 2 months with the average amount of players being over 100k
Back when the Sticky Jumper could lay down 8 stickies it was a machine for flying around the map. Sticky Jumper + ullapool caber used to be the demo verison of the market gardener and one of the best sniper distroyers before the caber was nerfed. I miss it soo much. Also Lock'n'load + sticky Jumper can lead to some sick aerial Sentry nest take downs if you aim true.
I love using it for combat, it's just fun almost being annihilated by a heavy then boom. You're at spawn, safe and sound, and ready to hit pipes while flying through the sky at 80 miles per hour. Also, subscribed!
Funny things about the iron bomber: 1). It has a bigger hit box compared to the other grenade launchers 2). It uses the bounding hit box (as in the same hit box both the crusaders crossbow and the huntsman) 3). It uses rollers so it’s easier to use and manipulate on paper
I think it's also important that you could keep a sticky or two on the floor in an area after you jump, and if things get dicey, you can make a quick getaway. You have 8 ammo in reserve, and you're definitely not gonna be pulling this out in combat, so a little planning helps. Besides, hitting airshot pipes are always preferred over using stickies imo.
As a pyro main, I personal adore the sticky jumper, because it means I need to use pipes, which not only am I good at, but it also fills my need to have a playstyle where I need to de-lobotomize myself.
@@mishagaming1075 Reading comprehension goes a long way. He's thankful that he has a weapon that can handicap him and force him into getting better at aiming pipes instead of abusing sticky traps. Kinda similar to how I've practiced aiming as Spy using the enforcer because of it's slower rate of fire requiring better consistency to keep up with stock, ultimately upping my stock revolver game.
@@heavenlywithhishands Understanding what i'm asking goes a long way I WAS ASKING IF PYRO HAS PIPES, BECAUSE HE SAID HE IS A PYRO MAIN. YOU SAID NOTHING ABOUT THAT. YOU COULD HAVE ATLEAST SAID "maybe he just plays demo too" BUT NO.
one of the best tf2 youtube videos i've seen in years, it's very well edited and paced, as well as being really interesting. i can't wait to see what more you'll make
I mostly use the sticky jumper in gamemodes where the "can't cap intel" stat does not affect the gameplay, like Payload. mostly use it there for trolling and getting back to the objective quicker, it's really good in those sorts of gamemodes where you can still help on the objective with it, and especially so on large open maps like upwards.
I love it for the meme potential. It is part of one of my favorite meme loadouts: eyelander, boots and sticky jumper. It rarely ever works, but when it does, it's just hillarious
sticky jumper is really really good, the rocket jumper is more of a meme and so on is easier to make into content, since its use is actually diffrent in a movement and health management manner to the other options . Its good to learn to hit pipes, what i still have to do. it feels that The machety and pan crit more then the bottle .
@@abirbhattacharji9345 i really was only talking about demo and soldier, tho your playstyle does not as much change with your melee, but more with your medigun and primary choice, as for most cases you are not playing crossbowman and are finishing low health targes crossmap or playing comp, uberchaining or playing battlemedic your melee isnt that much of a change in playstyle. Ubersaw+Crossbow is better stock anyways (exept MVM).
I started using the sticky launcher for that on a Hightower server, I so do love launching up on an unsuspecting sniper, sometimes they see me, and knowing that my entire purpose in life is to delete them, instantly go for me and win. But if they don’t see me, and then I launch somewhere around them, if I got lucky I’m on top of them and I delete them with the skullcutter, and then I spawncamp whatever entrance I’m at until I quickly meet my demise, I don’t have any healing, took damage from the fall, and possibly got hit by the sniper once before killing them, so all it takes is one or two enemies to come out and see me and I’m probably going to die.
The sticky launcher being your largest source of damage as Demo just says to me that, if this applies to you, you desperately need to practice hitting pipes
Protip for the sticky jumper. Plan your escape ahead of time and put your stickies where they need to be before engaging with the enemy. Once you've used your 4 pipes get tf out of there as soon as possible. Keep in mind an escape doesn't need to launch you across the map, you just gotta launch yourself somewhere that breaks line of sight and that would take a minute for anybody chasing you to catch up. By the time they get to you you'll have your pipes reloaded and hopefully have another couple stickies laid out for your next jump. An example of a good place to put your stickies is the bottom of one of the ramps on hightower. You can jump up through the ramp room and land on that small health kit in the corner if you're good at air strafing. You can also launch straight up and go over one of those high walls. I find that a good way to juke people is to land on top of one of those walls, people generally run around to the other side assuming that's where you'll land so you can wait for that then hop back down to the side you came from.
I didn't even finish the video yet but I just have to say I got so overwhelmed with nostalgia at the muselk/ster clips that I had to pause to catch a breather
@@MaidofRage420 because it's meant to be used as a training tool to learn how to stick jump you'd die from more than two regular stickies which is why it's capped at that
The reason I use the sticky jumper is because I wanted to get good with the pipes and dunking in people that just spawned in and got to the field is fun
0:48 they don't know i can speed pogo of course they don't, you can't do a double sticky pogo with the 2 sticky limit lol on a side note, I really like the editing and more concise style, earned a sub bro. Quick and well-made videos are great :)
Another reason is cus the Rocker Jumper immediately launches you while the Sticky Jumper requires you to time your jump. So basically a lower skill floor.
somthing you need to remember with the sticky jumper is melee specifically swords such as the eyelander and Scotsman'skullcutter or if you want to terrorize snipers more than usual use the ulapool cabier
The sticky jumper may not be in all the montages, but there’s one major upside to it: you still have your primary Jump straight to the frontlines with free mobility and still have a primary to work with
I highly regard the sticky jumper because it lets me do one of the playstyles i have had alot of fun with. The Orbital Strike Demo just get a caber, a base jumper, and your trusty old sticky jumper and you yourself can become the explosive
While it may be not as good as the Rocket jumper, my proudest gaming accomplishment still is when I was gushing about the sticky jumper in a pub and how I wanted one so badly. Right after the match ended, RNGesus was looking down on me and gave me a Sticky Jumper. I was so happy.
I helped save a match of MVM when a scout was going to drop the bomb (it was in the animation by the point i got there) on manhattan, I used sticky jumper to get from one side of the map to the end point and essentially pulled a market garden with the loch n load
As a demo main, i used the sticky jumper every time i played a map. the mobility was just too good to pass up, but once i learnt trimping, the king of my secondaries was dethroned, by the tide turner. i still use it, just not as much as i did back then.
With any risky sticky launcher (jumper, scot res, shield) the Iron Bomber is a must, the OP hitbox just makes directs more common and the actual listed pros are also insane. Such a busted weapon.
3:03 launch yourself at speed of light, without even granade launcher, sly perfectly horizonatlly. Have a apn and a blessing from gaben. Get to unsuspecting target and crit him with pan
the problem is shields can do everything the sticky jumper can do but also give crits, the reason the rocket jumper is so good on soldier is because its the *only* non-damaging movement option he has, and it synergizes well with the market gardener. if the caber was buffed and shields didnt exist the sticky jumper would be used more
On maps where there is an open skybox I often use Loch n' Load + Sticky Jumper + Eyelander You can market garden as demo and if you don't kill them completely the loch n loads insta explode on impact makes it easy to finish off enemies
I think that the reason is because the rocket jumper is a meme, it essentially neuters his dps. Meanwhile the sticky jumper doesn't, it's just a mobility option, still leaving you with a high dps.
they should make a mantreads for demoman which makes a new bottle item crit while you're sticky jumping in mid-air. because triple-primary class seems scary as fuck
The true power is using the caber and base jumper. Flying through the sky box before descending on some poor light class to instantly kill them and fly away before anyone even realize what happened
i really like the sticky jumper, especially in Thundermountain, it's mobile and really fun to use. Although, i agree that every hit should count when you have it (pairing it with the Loch n Load is a pain in the ass, but still fun).
One of my favourite things to do is use the Sticky Jumper and a Sign with a picture of the Market Gardener on it, then use the BS RNG Crit system to ‘Market Garden’ my enemies
This video is basically my dream video cuz it shows my favourite item in tf2 , but you may ask why I love the stickybomb launcher it is because I just jump over then while airborne I just fire my stock weapon which is the grenade launcher (Edit: I can play it on any map and I can still be godlike)
