[TF2] Summer Update 2023 Overview 

another nice detail about shark bay there's a sign that says "number of fatal shark attacks today" The number isn't random it actually counts how many players have died to the sharks that round

I like how they added VSH, broke their servers and then just removed it. All in the span of few hours

I’m glad to see that literally everyone loves the tf2 seal. Such a silly creature

As the creator of Warborn and Mechanized Monster, it fills me with joy to see people loving the warpaints.

VSH getting in is a HUGE deal because it opens the floodgates to dozens of new game modes being implemented, keeping the game fresh and exciting

The warpaints go so unbelievably hard

If I am understanding Sulfur correctly, it's basically an asynchronous KOTH map where RED owns the hill, but there are also satellite points that BLU can capture to finish their timer without having to hold the hill.

You know the TF2 community has been starved for content when a couple of seals gets this high of a player turnout

From what I saw of the VSH on community servers, ol Saxton gets a few more options than before. In the past, he was just a reskinned Soldier, but now he has his own moves. Aside from what you'd expect, he now has a ground slam and charge punch that sends you forward.

I can't believe I'm exited for what's to come with tf2. It would be a shame if this was a one time thing.

I think this update is so special to the community because it doesn't really feel like "Babe wake up its time to play the seasonal TF2 content for anything original." This really reminds me of when Borderlands 2 got a new DLC in 2019. Its hard to explain how just good this update feels. This update as opposed to like any other holiday update just feels like... It's just this really deep satisfaction

I think the fact that the Summer Update added by far the most maps in a single update, has a lot to do with the hype and reception. Even if you don't count the Saxton Hale maps, 10 maps is a new record in terms of maps added.

I wish they brought more community fixes.

I personally am a really big fan of Cashworks, as I don't really see/have a problem with most of the complaints people have with it, and also haven't experienced any of the bugs mentioned either, like the missing Vault Door

Amma be honest, when i tried the update at first i wasn't quite a fan of it... But man, i've never had such fun in months in tf2. Maps are probably the single best thing in this update.

its a step in the right direction, which is always a good thing.

It's because the seal. The seal is what makes this a 10/10 update.

I love that this is the most amount of maps ever added in a single update

"Valve clearly isn't big on playtesting" is a brutal thing to say about the studio who used to be known for doing exactly that.

I would like to mention some thing about the shark bay map because there's actually a shark death counter around near the midpoint and it actually tracks how many people have died in the Waters

You know, there's one phrase of life that I have heard that kinda made a difference in content. And that's enjoying the small things while there still around. Thank you for sending out your thoughts of the update. It was quite informative and thought out! Also I feel the Extinction map you mentioned about could use some more paleo fossils apart from dinosaurs. Like the missing link. :)

I’m not the biggest fan of the Japanese themed maps (do like the original KOTH one tho) but this update added so many diverse environments this time around that I think it’s just fine to have two

So far the few times I've played Cashworks, Blue team labels themselves as goblins stealing gold and I fucking love it

One thing to note about Cashworks is the near complete lack of invisible walls. Its ridiculously vertically open.

You called Soldier's set Solid Snake instead of Naked Snake. YOU FOOL!! But yea, lack of community fixes is strange, and seems like it's incomplete at the moment.

Despite VSH not being here and taking a while to be there. However their is one thing that makes it worth it.......seals But for real, i do like the map, although venice is too sniper friendly and surprising lack of ammno packs. Also I'm liking the seal map, i'm sucker for sea/water level that downplay or doesn't have bad water physics

Sulfur looks so good that i thought it was an overwatch map ported over to tf2 when i played it one time on UT before it was official

Extinction absolutely shouldve been added over Venice. At least Cashworks’ bugs are already patched. Venice just doesnt look like it belongs

Just to make sure because I’m not sure how the points on Sulfur work: There’s a normal KOTH capture point that red has to hold and defend, and blue can win by just holding that point long enough, but they can also reduce the amount of time they have to hold the hill point by capturing A, B, and C, and if they capture all 3 then they just have to capture the hill point once to win? Because I’ve noticed Red has to hold the hill for 8 minutes or something, but Blue only needs to hold for I think 2:30 (or is it 3:00? Idk), which can be reduced by capturing the other points.

Venice is my favorite part of the update. Love it so much.

That warpaint case is gonna have amazing returns. Strange FN Mechanized Monster is gonna be hella expensive, probably ending up like Strange FN Dressed to Kill is now.

Reckanor is probably my favorite map In this new update looks nice and plays fast but doesn’t feel like a straight roll also I feel like this is a great step in the right direction potentially new items from the community

i think if the lift on last went all the way to the top once you get the payload on the lift and then you had to get to the top and start pushing again then i think that choke would be way less difficult

I love how in Shark Bay the "Number of shark deaths" is accurately reflected and actively updated on a poster in the map.

I actually _really_ like a lot of the unusual hat effects. They're similar to some effects we've seen before, but they're still good effects and the versions we've seen before were limited runs.

thanks for the end negative. been trying to get back into this as Medic despite control issues, and... yeah, i can see why you'd say that. they may take this response as a thought to not go as far as they should. the majority of this update doesn't even matter to me. im just glad some peopel got it and are happy with some of it.

I just hope these maps will stay year round.

phoenix, cashworks & pelican peak i played in the tf2c beta, with pelican peak bein' one of the maps that made it into the latest update for that. i like pelican peak a good bit since engis can't just turtle

I really like selbyen, and the war paints are good too! Its the reason I started playing player destruction.

I actully got to play the new VSH gamemode, in a community server that 24/7 runs it. Its REALLY really fun! but to be fair I use to play alot of community VSH after school but still. I am so happy that its offical and hopefully will be playable in casual.

i actually really like Venice. It's got wide spaces for fighting and also has flanking routes but not too many of them. The final point has got to be my favorite part: it's well defended from the main entrance as you can place sentries either between the pillars or on the stairs and often the team on defense can deal with pushes thanks to the elevated ground and sometimes can repel BLU up to the second last point, but the final point has numerous flanking routes wich players can use to get to RED's spawn, although they don't use them much from my experience. If i were to underline something annoying that would be a couple of spots where snipers can just sit there with a wide open view of the RED team, but i really like the map
