I'm glad I'm not the only one to have a terrible experience with tye keys and terrible staff at the Hilton. But TFN for me this year was fantastic! I managed to meet my childhood Optimus and picked up some great figures. Was also great chatting you in the early hours in the morning
The only problem I had with the hotel was Thursday morning, which was sorted before I left home. I check in on the Hilton app and get a digital key for my room, bypassing the reception. So, the keycard troubles didn’t affect me as it was all accessed by my phone.
Me and Tim got stung by the hotel, our dear dad payed for our hotel and when we got there they needed his card again, why do they charge twice also my complaints about the bar is they stop taking cash at a certain point, why I have the money let me buy a drink with cash, so me and Tim were stuck in the bar late at night with no drinks 😢
With what the Hilton now charge I do think we aren’t getting value for money, room prices are up, food and beverages are up and the audacity to charge an extortionate rate for parking, even with a convention deal through TFN parking was ridiculous, almost £45 for the weekend. They should include parking in the room price or have it free for those attending the entire event, I mean the6 had two events on over the weekend and just with TFN 1800 attendees round up to 2000 to include all staff and vendors @ £110 per night that £220,000 if everyone stayed one night, not like they aren’t making money from the event either as they charge TFN to be the host venue aswell
The charge thing happened to me but the money got refunded shortly afterwards. The woman behind the counter at reception showed me her screen and I had only been charged once. Perhaps its the bank that holds the money?
@finnmeister You're not the only one that happened to. I don't think it is your bank. I was told by someone else it is a new policy with the hotel. If you pay on a card, they could take a 2nd amount. They will pay you that back but a few people got stung by that.
@TFKNOWLSY I'm starting to remember that the woman on the desk mentioned something about the bank holding the second amount. If it was hotel policy, she would have mentioned it but she definitely didn't. As I say, she showed me the computer screen and the Hilton had only taken the payment once. My money was refunded fairly fast but I do agree that it shouldn't happen.
i mean it sounds like the hotel is no different from usual, the staff always seem to be a tad shitty for some reason from what i remember out issues of the past.

@DecayedAndy Yeah they really aren't 4 star. I don't believe they have earned that right. Yeah it is getting crazy numbers. I believe they may have options to utilise other halls or spaces within the hotel. But they currently use the biggest halls.
@DecayedAndy There is another hotel that can situate TFN. It is another Hilton but it is in London. They don't plan on doing that one. They seem happy sticking with the hotel they are at now.
