The key to determine whether you get full contribution or not is the tax residency at the time. If you have permanent residency status but you are not filing Canadian tax return until 2020, you will not be entitled for the contribution until 2020. Great question and hope it helps.
@@RealEstateTaxTips Thank you so much for all the info. I have a question extending from the original post but for a Canadian citizen. So if a Canadian citizen filed tax for a few years since 2009 then moved to another country for 10 years and declared non-residency during this period, then the person return to Canada after 10 years. In this case the contribution amount for the 10 years away from Canada will not be added to the contribution limit, am I correct? Thank you for your help!
