In excellent condition, I couldn't resist the opportunity to acquire this Beyerdynamic M88 - labelled as TG (Tour Group) but looking suspiciously like an N(C) - in order to investigate on your behalf!
One of the most famous brazilian singer, Roberto Carlos used the Beyerdynamic M88 in 90s and until nowadays he still using the same brand but now the model TGX 580 hypercardioid. These mics are definetely better than Shure, Sennheiser or AKG.
@@AntonBrowne Sure, I dream with an M88 for my presentations or even to sing at home. But they're each day more expensive and hard to find a sample in good conditions.
Guessing that maybe the one marked TG was an early run of the new mics, possibly a late prototype before they updated the basket and associated hardware...screws, etc?
I’m not quite sure when the TG was introduced. I thought that happened after 2000. If so, I find it interesting that the M88 TG featured in this video still has “W. Germany” printed around the bottom ring. After the reunification of East and West Germany in 1990, I would think the label of a TG model would simply say “Germany.”
Only real decision is black on black or silver on black, beautifully crafted still, make it easy on yourself and have a pair of each.. Would the body styles have come from the connector option back when Tuchel/DIN was a common use?
