So freakin astonishing what we can do with technology today. Just take a bunch of pictures, click a few buttons, and you've got a high quality mesh that would take hours upon hours to sculpt, and even more time to paint. Amazing. Definitely considering the course, I'd really love to learn more.

It is amazing... but I am not getting these results.. not even close... my dense point cloud barely changes from the align photos stage and then when generating the mesh, it is super bumpy and messy, no smoothness at all... why does this keep happening?

I have a question. When snapping the photos (via iPhone) I can hold down the shutter button and it will just walk around whatever object I'm trying to shoot. This will create some blurry images in the burst as I am walking around in motion, but it does allow me to take many photos in a short period of time. Is it better to take few photos that are sharp or many that are blurryish?
@brianjohnson9802
@brianjohnson9802 4 года назад
You should take as many as possible that are sharp. Sharp pictures is the better option. It will probably just ignore any blurry ones.

You might need to mask these images just in case any background image data is used as tracking points. That could confuse the software. I've tried it on a few occasion and it has worked fairly well.

Thats quite a nice face/head scan using just one camera... How much icomplicated it is to do? I mean mainly for the "actor", is it hard to stand still for that period of time while someone other is quickly capturing the scan using only one DSLR camera?
@TGADigital
@TGADigital 8 лет назад
+Roman Navratil Thank you. In my experience it works quite alright for this level of quality as shown in the video. To get really high quality scans you generally need a lot more source photos and certainly better sharpness in the photos. This wouldn't be possible with a single camera as the live actor would unintentionally move around.

Saba Khutsishvili The times when I've had shots that would not align ("NA" next to name in PhotoScan) it was due to poor choice of subject on my part or blurry photos. It's hard to say exactly though. We just released a video with some useful tips that you can check out. I added it to the description of this video. I've tried myself with my LG G4 and gotten pretty decent results. I definately get better results with the Canon 70D though. But it is possible.

Hello. Thank you for a great tutorial, i also love the course on udemy. I'm just wondering. I have a lens that is 50 mm and a zoom lens, ranging from 18 - 135 mm. I used the 50 mm lens, but the thing is, it's a macro lens. making the depth very noticable, which made the pictures quite blurry on the parts futher back, this became a problem when i took close up shots. My results did not end up very good in photoscan, i'm wondering if the depth blur might be the reason. Do you suggest to avoid a macro lens? My aperture was at maximum (22f). Also. What about rotating the object you are photographing rather than taking shots att different angles? It wasnt mentioned in the course, but i figured it might work since we mask the pictures. Thank you!
