I like it to an extent, but he goes on for way too long. Every time he starts talking I know it's going to last for a very long time. Which is okay I guess, but it would be frustrating to also be on a podcast and have to sit quietly for so long because someone else thinks what they have to say is the most important.

@Nobody Special515 Actually, it kind of was Will's fault too. He a big part of changing the direction of the character and improved quite a bit of it.
@kyleellis1825
@kyleellis1825 Год назад
@Nobody Special515 I never said it made the last season better. That's a personal taste thing. All I said was that the actor was steering the character behind the scenes. after season 2, the studio/writers didn't want Eric to be the generic cool older brother that a ton of shows had. So they talked to Will and he suggested/improved in slap stick and the "dumb eric" moments. By S7, Will's script said "Eric does Feeny call" and then Will would improve the feeny call for X amount of time. Will was a big part in Eric's development in S3-7, in a way almost none of the other cast members had been with their own characters. In S6 when he was giving great advice, that was writers plotting out an episode. When Eric has a dumb moment/joke, it's a 75% of the time a Will improve. So yes, he gets just as much credit/blame as the writers do.
@kyleellis1825
@kyleellis1825 Год назад
@Nobody Special515 It's a personal thing. S7 isn't rated noticably worse than 6. So its opinion, not fact. It's the same as Joey, even though lots of people claim to hate how dumb he got, the studio audience responded most to the dumb moments. Yes, Eric was the typical cool older brother in S1-2. His only character trait was liking girls. Will has mentioned this several times and how the director came to him for input on what he could do when they wanted to add more to the character. Will had input on Eric's development and each season he was more involved in who Eric turned into. Don't believe me, that's fine. It's been stated by Will several times on the Christy Carlson Podcast and interviews at cons. I'm repeating his own words , so yes. Will is just as repsonsible as the writers for who Eric turned into.

@@kyleellis1825 Improvised. The word you’re looking for is improvised. Improved means to get better. Improv is the short hand for improvised. Not improve. That was why you got the reply you got. You’re using the wrong word and it completely changes the meaning of your sentences.

I was born in ‘99 so I know that there are a lot of y’all who don’t think I have any right to be here and speak to the nostalgia felt by those of y’all who grew up in the 80s and 90s and watched this with knowledge and understanding. The thing I love about reruns and VHS players is that it gave me the opportunity to watch what my sister Alexys watched originally, in ‘05/‘06 as a kid who loved sitcoms like Will’s son does now. It’s shows like BMW and FPBA and others like it that showed me what friendship should look like and how relationships should be in general whether romantic or platonic or familial. It set a standard for me that I find myself living by. I used to use BMW to give relationship advice in middle school. I can’t tell you all how much you all have impacted my life and the size of the presence it had in my life while dealing with life. Even now at 24 i find myself quoting the show. I turned the Feeny call into the Dad call whenever I would call through the house for my step/bonus dad.

I think Mr. Feeny getting stood up by his sister and not a date was a reflection of what Corey was going through with Eric. It also showed that there is more than one type of love that could potentially hurt you, both for Mr. Feeny with his sister (who we thought at first was a date) and with Eric and Corey/Eric with his date. Love hurts, but it is always worth the pain.

I was 13 when the show first aired, and I never missed an episode all the way to the end. It was the first show of my life where the stars were the same age as me. Although a bit farfetched at times, the plots were so relatable to me, and to this day, it's one of my all-time favorite shows. I have re-watched the series several times in the last few years, and it just never gets old for me. I tear up at so many episodes, not just because of the content, but because of the innocence lost since the show was on; of times past and the things I lived through with Boy Meets World. And having watched it all through again as an adult, I can honestly and easily say that George Feeny is the greatest character ever written into a television show! The compassion, love, and dignity Feeny gives to all those around him will never be seen again on American TV.

It’s very hard getting through season 1 when you’re 39 haha. But as a kid I loved every second. Eric and Shawn was always my favorite characters. Shawn was relatable due to my similar upbringing. And I had friends like Cory who were the complete opposite of me but were always there for me. Which is likely why I always ended up good decisions to get me where I am today. Eric was the bigger brother I always wanted. He was goofy, sometimes a bully but also caring. I wish he wouldn’t look bad and be disappointed in his acting. He… all of them were all great. Especially with what was on tv at the time. Mr. Feeney didn’t just teach the characters lessons. All us kids viewed him as a teacher and he taught all of us lessons through that show. Probably one of the few teachers every kid grew up loving. This show was all over the place. You watch so many characters grow, mature, face issues and overcome them. The one thing I notice about this podcast is their focus on Cory. There isn’t a single episode after the first season where he’s the star of the show. Every episode after focuses on just about everyone. Eric IQ seems to drop through the seasons lol but he gets through high school, he goes to college, he moves out of the house and we watch every step along the way. The weatherman job after interning, the road trip he refuses to come home from and so on. We see him date someone with a child. There’s so much to his character we watch through each episode. Shawn really seems the focal point on and off through out the entire run of the show. And the first few seasons even Mr. And Mrs. Mathew’s are the focal point. Cory reaches his arc rather quick. He’s in love with topanga, she’s in love with him and every few episodes they have complications which are resolved within that episode or shortly after. We don’t need to worry about Cory finishing high school. Shawn and Eric we worry about. We don’t have to worry about Cory going to college. Shawn and Eric we do. Cory doesn’t face many issues other than learning how to deal with issues Shawn and Eric are dealing with. Shawn gets involved with a cult. Shawn hangs out with a group of bad kids. Shawn learns he can love just one person and faces the difficulties of that relationship. (Which was ground breaking for tv). Eric is an example of how one kid in what seems like a perfect family can screw up, make bad choices and need a bit more help. This was more like Boys meet world. It would have been great if topanga had more complications outside the relationship with Cory. The fact her views were ahead of their time was great. How she handled relationship issues were great. But I wish her and aunt got more time to really see how that relationship was. Topanga was the girl all us guys didn’t like at first because of how awkward she was (purposely) but she became everyone’s crush freshmen year. But even as a kid watching the show… I always felt we didn’t know enough. Regardless, she like the rest of the cast did an amazing job. The show is literally timeless. There’s a few episodes that may not go over well in 2024 due to how women or portrayed. But there was always that moment stepped in and said something that made us think and educated us on why those situations were wrong. Long rant short… this is my favorite show. It’s up there with Dawson’s Creek which felt like more of a reality variant haha. But boy meets world had the ability to make us laugh, cry, relate and love everyone in it all at once despite their ups and downs. You guys should ridiculously proud of that show. And Will Friedle… you’re from Connecticut. That’s why you’re over analyzing everything. We have a habit of doing that here lol. Stop it! You’re talented!!!

As someone who works in major theme parks, the standing with your shoulders open thing is something I've also gotten used to, and it does feel so weird to start. They want you to always be open and approachable for guests, so standing and talking to a coworker or manager side by side, not really looking at each other, becomes just what you do.

I love this. And i agree completely about Feeney being written as a great teacher. He did such an amazing job portraying a teacher and was a huge part of my inspiration to become a teacher.

So I started listening to this podcast when they started the second season. I'm instantly hooked. Going to play catch up watching the first season episodes. What I love, which is a detriment to how many times I watched the reruns and when they initially aired, is that I don't need to rewatch the episode as they break it down. I can mentally visualize each episode.

I grew up watching the show & it comes with so many good memories and I didn't get many of them growing up. However it became a double down when my son was introduced to BMW and loved it from episode 1nand he watched it through and wanted to watch it with me. So it can be timeless and generational. Ty to everyone involved to make the show what it became.
