Chang Mai to Bangkok is only an 1 hour flight, but Thai Airways flies a 777 on the route, and I recently flew a 777-300ER in business class. Have you flown Thai Airways, and if so what did you think? Is it crazy that such a small carrier has so many different aircraft?

Nice Video! TG is one of the airlines that has many different types of seats as well. BTW, Thai isn't that small lol it covers all the major cities.

Thanks, glad you liked it! Yeah I was referring to the long haul seats on the 747/A380/A350. I now realize the 787 seats are different. I meant small in terms of number of aircraft. Normally you’d want some sort of standardized fleet to deal with equipment swaps or crew issues. Having only a handful of each is a recipe for disaster in my opinion!

You are lucky to fly on their new Business Class seat. I was just be on their old Business Class on B772, and the seat was not as good as on this one, but at least it was a pleasant journey.

I know I was expecting such an older aircraft. I was unable to select a seat prior to check in, only "window" or "aisle." My guess is they were unsure which configuration would be flying until the last moment.

I stopped flying with TA many years ago I found them no better than BA (more than likely the worst air line in the world) I have just book a trip to the UK from BKK with Emirates for 97th bht. Business class Thai air wanted 170th bht one of the reasons that Thai air is loosing monies. Why I ask would anyone travel with a rubbish airline and pay almost double.

I think it greatly depends on the aircraft. I would have found this long haul to be only alright. I did really enjoy the a350 I took to Milan, which I’ll post in a few weeks. I can’t really comment on prices as I mostly don’t pay cash for my flights. From what I’ve read Thai suffers from serious mismanagement for sure. But it’s hard being squeezed between Singapore, the ME3, and newer European longhaul routes. The people are wonderful and the food really good out of BKK, and I wish them the best!
