Get all the details for this Thai basil chicken recipe (pad kra pao gai ผัดกระเพราไก่) right here: wp.me/p4a4F7-24u
Alright everyone, I've been receiving some requests to post some Thai recipes, so this is my first attempt at filming and publishing a Thai street food recipe known as pad kra pao gai (ผัดกระเพราไก่), and I'm excited. When I first moved to Thailand, most of what I did was only eat, and discover all the amazing food there way. I lived in a small studio apartment without a kitchen, so I wasn't able to do much cooking or sample the many Thai recipes I had wanted to try out. But after getting married and moving into a house, we now have a kitchen, and while normally my wife and her mother do the cooking (which is outstanding by the way), I have had a chance to make some Thai street food recipes as well.
For this Thai basil chicken recipe (pad kra pao gai ผัดกระเพราไก่) here are the ingredients you'll need, but really, you should click here wp.me/p4a4F7-24u to see all the ingredients and directions on my website.
1 egg
2 tablespoons of oil for frying
1 chicken breast (or any other cut of boneless chicken, about 200 grams)
5 cloves of garlic
4 Thai chilies
1 tablespoon oil for frying
1 teaspoon of oyster sauce
½ teaspoon light soy sauce
½ teaspoon sugar
1 splash of dark soy sauce
1 handful of Thai holy basil leaves
1 plate of hot freshly steamed Thai jasmine rice - I also really like brown rice.
Now, the ingredients listed here for the Thai basil chicken recipe (pad kra pao gai ผัดกระเพราไก่) are what I used. But that being said, Thai food is very much a taste based cuisine, meaning that you really need to taste test your cooking. Don't just assume all these measurements are correct for your taste buds - and sometimes the seasonings we use can differ a bit. So use these ingredients and cooking directions as a guide instead of as exact measurements.
Hope you enjoyed this Thai basil chicken recipe. I will be publishing a few more like this video in this series.

I used to live in Thailand... for nearly 30 yrs. actually, and I love Thai food. I think Thai food is probably the most savory and fragrant food in the world and I miss it so much. I love watching your show.... makes my mouth water just watching you cook all those delicious dishes. Thanks for doing these shows and giving instructions on how to cook them. I've already cooked several of them, and it turned out awesome.

Hi Mark. I was just browsing through RU-vid channels about food. I have to say that I really loved the very authentic approach to sharing your love for good grub. I have already tried some of the recipes (ผัดกระเพราไก่ being a personal favourite) and the fact that you use the ingredients and utensils you'd find in a real Thai kitchen makes it easy for a Bangkok-based farang like me to go look for the ingredients and reproduce the wonderful dishes. I really like how you don't try to embellish the setting, but focus on the important thing... Cheers!

It took a while for me to find a source of holy basil here in the UK, but I found a supply of dried holy basil. I love this combination of ingredients, but I always add a dash of fish sauce as well. Thank you for your video upload - it was inspirational. 2 years later, I still cook this combo regularly. I dice the chicken quite small (around 1/5" or 1/6"). Minced chicken doesn't work - it forms a large unmanageable mass. My partner Anne doesn't eat fried eggs, so hasn't enjoyed that part of this delicious combo.
