In 2024, the regulations for performing a Cambodian border run from Thailand have seen some updates. Travellers looking to extend their stay in Thailand can still utilize the border run method, but it's essential to be aware of the new rules. The Thai government has implemented restrictions to limit the number of border runs a foreigner can make to two per calendar year. This measure aims to prevent the system's abuse and encourage long-term visitors to obtain appropriate visas, such as Education, Elite, Retirement, or Long-Term Resident (LTR) visas. For those who qualify, the Visa Exemption stamp allows a 30-day stay, which can be extended by another 30 days for a fee at Thai immigration offices.
