If you want science on electronic acupuncture, try researching under the topic of "myofascial tissue trigger points" as well as the topic of "dry needling". Trigger points are often addressed with trigger point injections, but dry needling and acupuncture help greatly too. Sometimes the treatments are run together, with trigger point shots monthly, and dry needling twice a week. Also, yes, adding electricity (via a "TENS" unit) takes it to another level.

You seem like a good dude. I’m a younger guy, currently 42, I’m thinking of living in Thailand 5-7 months of the year. One of my concerns is that I’m going to constantly be around douche bag foreigners that act inappropriate to say the least… good to see there are some decent, honest people with morales and self respect over there….

There really are. I have some very nice quality friends here. I think a lot of it comes down to substance abuse issues with some people. Seems to be very common here. Not much else to do- right? Luckily I’m staying busy.

I've owned sailboats. They truly are a hole in the water that you throw money into. Now I own a recreational vehicle, a motor coach. It's the same thing. Only a little less expensive. As you say, all those things tend to own you versus you owning them. It's actually quite liberating getting rid of a lot of stuff that I've been holding on to for years. And I live in 320 square feet so I don't really even have that much but it's still too much. I've had severe back pain from the neck, mostly numbness and pain in my right arm, but I've also had lower back stuff as well. I would not want to be riding any kind of motorcycle when I had an attack like I used to. But it is an efficient and inexpensive way of getting around.

The post/fence thing is a PITA. I had a fence built around 2 rai at the back of our property in Buriram while I was in the US, and while most of it is OK, a dozen or so of the posts are leaning/falling into the neighbors pond. Their pond is strategically located 1 meter from the property line. Thanks, guys. How neighborly. We are building a house this year, and the company is driving 6 meter friction piles to support the foundation. I am getting a quote on having them drive the same piles on every other post to support the fence near the pond. A few piles at strategic locations might provide extra support for "not deep enough" fence posts. The old saying is really true: "Good fences make good neighbors." Good luck with the build.

@@smileoften-ft3hq Sure, people do that all the time and sometimes they even cast them in place to join wall segments. I could have done it that way, but I am not a fan of the way some of these guys mix concrete. Too inconsistent for something with as small a cross-section as a post. The concrete company is just up the road and they delivered 70 posts the next day. I do not remember what they cost, but it was not much. Not worth it to me to expend the time to save a few baht on each post. Best Regards, mds

@@michaelsmith3624 yes. In the end getting quality is what we want. The builder behind has a proper cement mixer and years of good reputation. The house beside me used manual labour that I am not sure they did a good job. My situation is I am about 1 or 2 years to build start so watching for comments like yours. Thank you 🙏

@@smileoften-ft3hq To be clear, there is nothing wrong with building your own if you are on a tight budget. or just want to.. The problem is that you personally, or someone you trust should be there, at least while they are made. With a little care, you can make better ones than the mass produced ones, which are butt-ugly. As near as I can tell, they are not vibrated or hand finished. Structurally fine. You can improvise a vibratory table with a couple of old tires, a piece of plywood, and a reciprocating saw with the blade removed. Vibrate the post for a minute or so, then out of the mold to a flat surface and touch up the edges. You will lose the small bubbles and rough edges and have a prettier post. Anyway, do whichever floats you boat, but I was in a hurry and they wee not expensive so I just bought them. Best Regards, mds

@smileoften-ft3hq -that’s an intriguing question. I suppose other than the pragmatics, I outline and some of my videos about my location and being slightly isolated, and therefore prone to theft, at least a little more than others in the village. I’m also a fan of a kind of a famous wrestler, and in his off time, he has a huge wall around his property, and he more or less locks himself, and has his private time, and he likes that fact apparently that nobody is bothering him. I suppose I share some of the same sentiments if I’m honest with myself.

I think doing what you want and when is liberating . However it has to be balanced . In a relationship the other person's needs have to be considered too . I am much older than you but the health issues and mobility issues are similar . So when I can't do something because pain kicks in I have to draw the line. I let her do things without me, I don't think you have to be forced to go along with every family outing . Maybe they want you to go so you pay for the excursion . If its too much for me physically I'd rather provide the funds and stay home in comfort . In a way that's also doing what I want ,when I want and why it's for my benefit .

I’m someone now 70 that through my life likes to practice long term thinking and anything where I am able to see what the long term implications are and what I need to do now to get those benefits. That said, now at 70 it is the simple things that ignite me and I focus more on to be happy. Thailand is a wonderful country to enable this and has so many wonderful people for us old guys to find this sort of simple living if freedom.

I’ve basically been retired in the traditional sense since I’ve been 50. As a lawyer I built my practice, made my money then got out of that rat race and sold it. I’ve never retired as a musician and never will. I was lucky to be able to do both as the bulk of my legal practice was entertainment related. But I will say that after traveling and doing basically whatever I want for the past 14 years, it gets a bit boring. Well now I’m going to be a father again and it’s another little girl! When we got the news I was actually elated! While most guys my age are wondering what to do with the rest of their lives, I know what I’ll be doing. Becoming a father again, at least for me, just injected my life with a whole new level of meaning. I loved raising my first daughter and she’s still the light of my life. Now I get to do it again with a woman whom I love dearly and been with for 15 years, when I have the time, wisdom of age and financial resources to give the child a great life and opportunities! I’m so happy for my wife and myself as well! She was told by the docs she’d never have children so it’s a bit of a miracle for us! Now a lot of you will think I’m crazy and I get that. But my life has never been traditional nor conventional in any way nor would I ever want it to be. But my point is that when you do retire, it’s so important to find that meaning to carry you through the rest of your days, whatever that may be for you! The me stuff gets boring after a while. If you can find a good lady to share it with like Robb and I did then that’s great! But find something that gives you that reason to keep getting up every morning. Good luck with the house Robb. It’s a good move for you at this point and it’s not like you’re investing your life savings in it. A new car would cost you more these days!

I've been where you're going at age 60. It'll give you a purpose for life for the remainder of it. Make the most of it and enjoy the ride. Having a daughter will make your wife fulfilled and give her security in her old age when you're no longer around and that's the best legacy you can give her . I think music will be very good for a baby and toddler to grow up with,it's therapeutic. My son grew up with Neil Diamond songs. Congratulations!

@@resetwithrobb Thats actually funny! When it comes to domestic issues and the police, they really don't want to know - family problems - sort it out yourself is a normal response. I think a housefire would come under the same category - its just an "accident" - police don't want to be bothered ( unless there are any bodies in the house when it burned down they they get annoyed bcos they are forced to do their job!!) But you have the right attitude by being pragmatic & realistic about the relationship, if it does not work out pack up your stuff get on your bike & ride away. Keeping receipts for the build makes perfect sense. Its common that the falang can own the "house" therefore can do what he wants with it, including bulldozing it if he chooses to , lots of precedent there and courts/police don't act against you from what I have heard ( Lots of funny stories from the wife on all things relationships & when they break down and not just mixed relationships but also Thai/Thai relationships)
@consulthai
@consulthai 9 месяцев назад
@@kevhall4802I agree,generally speaking the Thai police don't interfere in domestic arguments unless violence occured. It's a private matter and in neighbourhoods you often hear loud arguments which it's best not to interfere with. However if we're talking about arson or or other significant damage you better disappear so the family/ friends don't get you . It's probably best to cut your losses. As a farang alien you got no rights. That's why it's paramount who you pick as a partner and how much losing you would impact them. Breaking up is never pleasant anywhere,but here where you got no security of tenure it's very problematic. I wonder why Robb brings any possible break up into some of the videos? It seems contradictory to when he says how lucky he is having found a compassionate carer.. ?

That is a good comment regarding language. If you are considering places of little english would suggest live there for minimum one month, better is two as I went through a lot of change of thought at 45 days. Decide how close or in a city that speaks English you require. I am introverted and yet will at times need social and stimulation of conversation. In year two I am on the fence about this as a part of creative thinking in conversation and communication may be diminishing and that is a huge concern for me. Learning some Thai of course and that is your ability to learn. Obvious is Rob is happy in his environment. Wish that helps some 🙏

@@smileoften-ft3hq Thanks, your insight and experience is valuable. I plan on only visiting the more tourist areas Phuket etc. I think that Thai people are very friendly and they don't have a disdain and resentment against Americans like pretty much all of latin Americans do right now. It's nice to have some people, even if they're not close friends, who speak our language and understand our perspective. There are actually good traits/habits that Americans have and I wouldn't want to have to give those up just because of a location change.
