I haven't been to Thailand, but have lived in Vietnam Philippines and other Asian countries, what u said about Thailand being friendlier and More genuine than Vietnamese is what I've experienced too, Vietnamese very surface-level friendly everything is just money to them.
What? Thai friendly? No. Absolutely not. Thai are neither friendly nor curious. Whereas Vietnamese are both! Viet Nam infrastructure is certainly inferior to Thailand and visas are terrible in Vietnam.

We always think that Vietnam is the friendliest country in the world. A little calm, I think about the way Vietnamese people sell. To be the most fair, to be the most objective, I 100% agree with your comment (although a bit reluctantly). However, I want to explain a little, why is that. Thailand has been at peace for more than 500 years now when it defeated the Khmer empire in 1431. Vietnam was invaded by France from 1858-1954, the French stole minerals, resources, and exploited Vietnamese labor very fiercely. The Japanese forced Vietnamese farmers to destroy rice plants to grow jute, causing the famine of 1944-1945 that killed 2 million people. After Vietnam defeated France at Dien Bien Phu in 1954, realizing that if the 1956 general election was held according to the Geneva agreement, Ho Chi Minh would get 80% of the vote, the Americans were determined to divide Vietnam in two. Therefore, the Vietnamese had a fierce war from 1956 to 1975 with the participation of 500,000 American soldiers. Then there was the war with Pol Pot in 1978 and China in 1979. Vietnam was also under the US embargo from 1975 to 1995, so we have only been doing business for 30 years (1995 to 2024). Because of the brutal rule of the empires, the Vietnamese simply thought of not dying first, they thought of surviving today, unable to think of tomorrow. And that affected the Vietnamese sales culture very badly. In this point, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines are much better than Vietnam, and they also speak English better to understand tourists. I think Vietnam's tourism is still far behind Thailand's, but it is unfair to compare because Thailand has been at peace for a long time, and they also made a lot of profit by leasing the airport to the US to bomb Vietnam (even more than the total amount of bombs dropped in World War II). Today, there are still 5 million people infected with Agent Orange due to US bombs, but the Americans or Thais have no opinion, of course no compensation, no support.
Hi Johny, I've just watched you on the video with Bald&bankrupt in the Ukraine, Kharkiv. I am a crazy fan of Kharkiv, lived there as a student for 8 years, back in 1993.... I was in Da Nang Vietnam the same time as you and at many of the same events and places like Dragon Bridge on New Years. I ate the Lobster and my wife ate the pork skewers at the same place you saw it. We had no problems. We stayed at Sandy Beach resort, 10 minutes out of town. We relied on taxi to town and we're not thrilled because our resort had no activities. ATM I used several and was able to withdraw 4,000,000 Vnd roughly 160 Euros. You only used ATM NEAR TOURIST AREA. I agree with your phone assessment. Vietnam in general had cheaper food, than Thailand but I prefer Thai food. Sorry we missed you at Tett, would have loved to grab a selfie.
Love Thailand - Chiang Mai especially. I miss living there and the variety of amazing vegetarian food 😊 Vietnam was great, but being from South Africa I found the visa quite expensive. Totally worth it though! Thank you for the awesome videos!

I think even though there is only Grab in Da Nang, but there is nothing wrong with their services. It is also very cheap and fast to use Grab in Vietnam to get from point A to point B. 😊 Thai food to me in general taste great when I eat once a week or once a month. Otherwise, it is too sweet, too salty, oily with lots of carbohydrates. 🙂

Guinness seems quite expensive in many places outside of Ireland, perhaps no surprise as it has to be exported. I live in China and it's probably 60-70 yuan for a pint. Unfortunately, it normally doesn't very good either because of the lack of freshness and also because it's usually not poured properly without enough pressure so no foamy head!
I bet Guinness is more expensive in London than East Asia. Even though London is relatively near Ireland and they have breweries that actually make Guinness only a few miles out of London.

Johnny, would you consider starting a second channel? It could be a good solution to your problem of split interests in your followers - some people only followed you for Bald, some only for Ukraine, and some are most interested in your old digital nomad/entrepreneurship content. If you had one or two other channels, you could post content that caters to that specific part of your fanbase. It's also been shown to increase revenue overall on RU-vid when you have more than one channel.
ironically, Bier Saigon is Thai Owned,... and all the other common brands throughout Vietnam are either Carlsberg or Heineken owned. But, Beer is fr far far cheaper in Vietnam.

ive lived in both vietnam and thailand. thailand is far safer and slightly more developed but also a little more expensive in general. one thing though is that western food in vietnam seems to cost more than it does in thailand for some reason. cleanliness is about equal, although ive gotten food poisoning in both places. one thing i didnt particularly like about thailand is that religion and the monarchy is in your face everywhere. you can't drive more than 5 minutes without seeing some monument dedicated to the king. the kingdom is run as a buddhist country so there is no separation between church (or in their case, temple) and state. the strangest thing was having to stand before watching a movie at the cinema while they played the king's anthem with his picture up on the screen. as far as food, thai food tastes better but vietnamese food for sure is healthier (not as much stuff fried in oil as you'd find in thailand).
Yes, that was really unfortunate, but things like that rarely happen. I've owned scooters for 10 years in Thailand and that was the first time I even heard of something like that. =(
I've been in Thailand for 10 years and have met exactly 0 people who have ever gotten PR. Technically the program exists, but they give out less than 100 per year. It basically doesn't exists as your chances are about 1 in 3.5 million.
