A lot of the ambience is me just messing with random guitar noises and reversing it with boatloads of reverb, but sometimes I'll use a pad synth for a similar sound
But according to Calle and Daniel (guitarists in Vildhjarta) "pretty thall" would just be regular old djent. The thing that separates the two of them is the fact thall is dark and moody. Sorry for the "umm, akshully 🤓" ass comment, just that I happened to read an article recently on the topic of thall and Calle & Buster were breaking down key points and aspects about the sound. That was still dope though
Saying the difference between thall and djent is that thall is dark and moody is like saying that the difference between rowboats and sailboats is that sailboats float on water
@@NoMitherNoProblem Whatever, dude. Just going off of what the dudes who literally came up with the shit (thall) defined it as, so take it up with them
Don't know any with this exact aesthetic, but Karmanjakah have a few tracks that venture into "uplifting thall" territory ("Breathing" is a good starting point I think). Glaciers might also be a band to check out, on that darker side but has some really cool use of cleans over heavy riffs.
