This is a short film I made with music about Thamesmead South, Housing Estate in London. This is the Estate where A Clockwork Orange, Beautiful Thing and Misfits was filmed. It is a wonderful example of 1960s Architecture with a dream of a 21st century self-contained city in the sky. To some it may be a Beauty - to others a Beast.....what's your opinion?

I like the prospect of a 'more poitive environment' this video hints at 👍.... I've lived in Thamesmead most my life and to tell the truth it's much the same as any other 'hard-bitten and skint' inner city mass-dwelling!....but we have got the bonus of the sewerage treatment plant at Crossness! and on hot summers day Thamesmead smells like.....VICTORY! (love the smell of Thamesmead in the morning's 😆)

I like the pictures and the captions, but the music scared me perhaps something more netural just my opinion Thanks to all who were all involved in making this.

Brilliant job, I loved it. I lived there between 1972 and 1976 as a young child and I have fond memories. I think my old house may have been demolished as I can't seem to find it on Google maps, shame really but times change things have to move on and improve. Hopefully there'll be more kids with good memories to keep, growing up in Thamesmead.

Beauty not beast. A friend of mine bought a small house there. It was peaceful, easy to get to central London. The nicest thing was strolling around the lake, morning or evening.

WOW!I absolutely adore they way you used the music in contrast to striking images of Thamesmead's architecture. I watch a lot of similar content and I can honestly say this a true masterpiece. Can you tell me the title of songs used here please?

Have fond memories living in Thamesmead as a kid, but was glad to move away from there in 2010 as it was becoming a dump with all the vandalism. And also people getting mugged or murdered. Though was also sad to leave my old house. Still kind of sad knowing it will get knocked down eventually.

It has little chance of being 'the Town it was mean to be' since the majority of the development will be for sale and probably to only those who can afford the inevitable Luxury prices. As soon as 'developer' say its 'exciting' it means major profits rather than benefits to the community !

I agree , how many other large scale 60”s & 70’s estates has this also happened too ? This estate has the added advantage of being close to the water !! No way it will stay as council / social housing as it was originally built for .

Really great video, I grew up there in the 80's and 90's I think its so grey and so concrete its almost beautiful and in all my life and the places I've been to I have never seen a place quite like it, It really is a one off, did you take these photos yourself?

have a question , firstly nice vid! once in a year i visit my aunt in london and im from berlin, so i watched misfits and for me the location was attractive, is it dangerous for me to make a trip to thamesmead south??

no, it is not dangerous. as long as you go at daytime, you will be fine. if you want to go, you should go soon because a lot of the original 60s/70s buildings are being pulled down as part of a regeneration project by peabody. new buildings have been built at the old tavy bridge, now renamed cygnet square and also binsey walk and coralline walk have been demolished and are awaiting construction. some flats at Maran way have been demolished and replaced by new flats/shops. some homes at wolvercote road and lensbury way are going to be demolished too as well as the Yarnton way wall being demolished and some of the tall apartment buildings are going to be modernised. the buildings at Maran way could be demolished but not anytime soon.
