I hate the UK version. They never give the actor (being Hamish Blake) any usable material. The Australian version is much smoother and funnier

The UK scenarios are so weird. The only reason that was watchable was because of Hamish!

They try setting him up too hard instead of his creativity flowing naturally.

What i find amusing about this show is that not only must the contestant know how to improvise, the actors in the scene also must both know how to improvise and try not to laugh during the whole procedure.

Aussie humour, the best kind.

One frustration I have with watching TGYH is that the way they have the show structured, it violates one of the cardinal rules of making good improv: Never try to "deny" the things your fellow performers inserted into the scene with their words. Always accept what the other actor said and build on top of it, or if you have to deny it, deny it in a way that actually inserts a funny twist on it, but never just say "no you're wrong, it's really like this instead". But because all the performers except the 'victim' have scripted events they have to hit during the scene, they keep telling the performer that they're wrong if something is invented that will get in the way of the scripted events to come. One example of this is the question with a hardcoded answer. They ask the performer a question like "why did you miss work yesterday?", and whatever the performer comes up with is utterly irrelevant to the scene because they then say, "no that's not true, it's actually that you were in jail...."

Agreed, and he wasn't able to bounce of the actors at much. Their improv was pretty stiff, poor timing, leaving him with the awkward silence here and there. Makes it hard for the audience.

I appreciate the fact it's an Aussie show... I don't think my point was clear enough perhaps. I don't doubt the original show is Australian, I was commenting solely on Hamish's ironic comment. I find it funny that here in Australia I'm hearing Hamish be glad that people in Australia won't hear him...

Australian version is better

the actors questions are so annoying on the UK version, its too scripted and pushy. The Aus version has natural dialogue and makes the jokes funnier, you can see Hamish is struggling with these stupid questions
