I’ve had to pause because I always get so engaged I forget to comment 🤪 but quite literally I find you both the most engaging and normal and very entertaining gardeners on RU-vid. I love my allotment but I’ve had a difficult year last year besides from weather here in Ireland and most of the year before, but, I can say I’ve always felt connected to it through both of your channels 💚 it’s so lovely to watch this chat and learn about you more. Work experience 😂. Mine was half in a meat factory, stripping boiled ox tongues and other half with an industrial grinder cleaning rust off skips . No gardening for me 😂

Thoroughly enjoyed the interview with Jess have followed her for a long time and have watched the videos she posted of her sister’s garden. I was interested in how you tube works. I recently watched a video of a UK gardener who concentrates on growing veg in buckets and has over 90,000 subscribers. ‘You tube’ worked it out that approx 60% of of his subscribers are from the USA and therefore he is liable for tax in America and ‘You tube’ deduct the tax before paying him. Even before tax he only gets a fraction of a penny per view.

So great to watch this! I love watching people "Chewing the fat" so to speak about gardening and how they got into it and what motivates them. I got more into growing veg again, when i saw my Step Father in Laws garden and his no dig beds. He had a PHD in Geology that he got as a mature student as he was really into gardening and had been doing no dig since the 80's. He had lots of square beds and a greenhouse behind some fruit trees so it didn't disturb the main part of their beautiful garden. But i actually loved going back there and he was showing me his inventions, like a mole trap he made with a bucket. My Mother in Law and hubby used to drag me away from there as thought that he was bothering me but i actually enjoyed going back there and seeing what he was up to. They lived on the Isle of Wight too, so you would often see pheasant (herd?) just chilling out on a stroll as we kept our fur daughter inside! As someone from London, i thought that was wild, literally! lol We just had a basement flat patio that was shaded by the neighbours trees but we had containers, so i was itching to start in the mature garden and transform it, whilst we also renovating the new house. When it comes to gardening and DIY I do like to up-cycle stuff but now i want to upgrade stuff, hubby is a bit tight when it comes to actually investing in something decent. And yes Jessie, i would be recording something for the family (My Dad, Father in law and his wife and my sister now in NL) and then hubby would come out saying some random crap. We also live near a school so come home time we hear all sorts of colourful language. Noice! Glad Jessie and Mum works well together. Hubby has his chores of watering, hedges and lawn but i do most of it, like planning, sowing, up potting and planting out. He does help by holding stuff, like the string when planting tomatoes, so i can then weave it up and tie off. He is taller than me too and is heavy enough when we started out trying to break through cruddy clay soil and me standing on the fork did nought! lol He does compost turning duty. I hate the Darlek and want to make a pallet one as come summer i have to jump in it to squash it down a bit more. I'm like Tony as i love to grow for the sake of growing and experimenting, regardless of the space i have and i like to give away stuff for people to also enjoy growing but don't have the time nor setup to start seeds. The thing i really love but does take up a lot of time in the summer is the processing and preserving the "extras" for this exact time of when the "hungry gap" season starts. I cleared a shelf in the workshop and created and in between, extra shelf, for jars. "We" make extra jars of chutneys and jams for gifts at Christmas too. I thought that we were running short for the time of year but i forgot that i ended up using the old working but not turned on fridge freezer that the old owners let behind! For me, that is food security reassurance. I have always been into traditional cooking and i love watching people like Mary's Nest and The Seasonal Homesteader. Taking that extra step from traditional cooking into preserving your own produce has been a major turning point for me and brings me so much joy. Making home made meals from scratch for my kid and hubby in the time it takes to cook some processed foods is what imo makes the difference. Also, just a YT tip going forward, in the tags section in YT Studio, you can add the seeds, plant(s), etc mentioned in the video you are uploading and you can then search for it back in the main channel video page and it doesn't clog up the description section.

I remember my work experience in Highschool was at a brewery in the office. I had a tour of the brewery and I always remember a brewer sititing down having morning tea reading the newspaper with a glass of beer. Times back then! greetings from Western Australia😃😃 Cheryl
