Back in 2017 when I was still a college student at NYU, I ran into Derek right as I happened to be listening to his song, Hold On - I couldn’t believe how much of a crazy coincidence it was, so I went up to him to show him and we actually ended up talking for a bit while walking down 5th Avenue... it’s still my favorite celebrity encounter to this day because he was so friendly and genuine :) I’m so happy to see how great of a couple Derek and Hayley are together and I hope they continue to have a beautiful and blessed future together!!! 💖
I met Derek back in probably 2009 before he was properly famous but he was touring as part of a show and we went to the stage door. All these years later I still support him and large part of that is how genuinely nice he was to us, a true gentleman, walked with us to our car as we were the only people there and chatted for ages. Such a great guy
