Thank you for this MASTERFUL animatic!!! Such an honor to get to collaborate with you!!! EPIC: The Underworld Saga is OUT NOW! #epictheunderworldsaga #epicthemusical
She's my favorite out of so many iconic talented animators doing EPIC videos 😍 I love to see a mix between her original design for Poseidon and Jorge's "official" design made with Wolfy
@@Kinlyhere it's not a snippet from a full length animatic, from my understanding, it's an original and so this is all there is to it. It was made specifically to be posted here. (Unless I'm gravely mistaken, in which case I hope someone will correct me)
@@samuelrojas-md6vh I mean, Polyphemus was literally just killing them to avenge his pets/livestock. While they may have only killed one (in fact, the one he may have considered closest to a pet given it was hit favorite), they clearly meant to kill all of them, as such they all should pay.
This one short is single-handedly the reason I know of and listen to EPIC. I watched and went: "I need to hear the rest." Monster is my favourite EPIC song.
@@iluvlamas1288 whatever man, you do you. But, the cringest shit I know is people who cant hold their shit In. So I actually think your comment is cringe🫵
I love how Odysseus' design has more glowy parts than for example Poseidon, because he IS the protagonist, but where Poseidon't glowy bits look like they're part of him, Ody's are very explicitly bits of his outfit, implying what supernatural power he migth wield is not something he naturally has, but comes from somewhere else.
I will say that man was STRONG like string enough that his personal bow could only be strung by him and that wasn't magic that was just the draw weight. But to my knowledge he isn't a demi God been a while so don't take my word on that.
The way Odysseus sings as if he’s talking about someone else when in actual fact he’s describing something he’s been through, makes it seem as if he’s pretending it actually did happen to someone else to protect his mind from the trauma- basically derealisation.
@@TheMightyBlaziken-qc9jbyes but the way the Odissey is structured every chapter is a story of its own. They share the protagonist and are related to each other in some ways but mostly they are different so you can consider them "stories".
I grew up off these stories : my dad would buy all kinds of books on gods and myths and read them to my sister and myself; When I heard the story of the Trojan Horse, it touched my little heart. Growing up, I always wanted to make a D&D villain that captured the feeling of : "before you know his reasons, he is a monster ; when you learn his reasons.. you question which side is truly in the wrong." I LOVE that, that concept is reflected in the lyrics.
The fact that your Odysseus feels for the Trojans, funnily enough, makes Aeneas' perspective more interesting. Throughout his own odyssey, Aeneas almost always harbour a hidden hate for the man who felled his home and lead to the death of his friends, his wife, and his king. An Odysseus who feels regret for his acts, though thinking he is still justified, would be one of more doubtful morality, and thus Aeneas' hatred of him would be placed in an area of similar gray morality: does Odysseus deserve the hate of a man who suffered so alike to him?
Thisssss has me thinking. I read both the Odyssey and the Aeneid this year and I realized the parallels immediately. They’re both similar and likeable IMO and I have such a hard time deciding who to side with
@@ShadesMincraft-wd2jq100% worth reading the Aeneid if you like the myth of the Trojan war! It basically tells the story of the aftermath of the Trojan war from the Trojan perspective and was the Roman attempt to write a poem to rival the odyssey/Iliad
@reevo59 it was written not so much to rival the Illyad, but instead it was made to link the emperor of the time to a prestigious hero and demigod : the Augustean dynasty
This short wound up in my feed a couple weeks ago and caught my attention. I've gone down the rabbit hole and I'm NOT disappointed 😊 Thanks for allowing me to experience EPIC: The Musical.
I absolutely love how each part is made with the colour palette of its respective album cover, but Odysseus is gray-cyan like the underworld saga. Great job!
Fun fact: It is actually a passion project by a single creator. He wrote, composed, and produced it himself. He got help with the producing, but the rest is just him. He documented his progress over the years on his tik tok. (I think he’s spent 4-5 years on it now.) He even stars as the lead role and is the voice you’re hearing right now.
@@blazelightshine2311 it’s called Epic the musical, it currently has 5 sagas (album) released that make up the entirety of act 1. Act 2 is not out yet. The sagas in order are: The Troy Saga, The Cyclops Saga, The Ocean Saga, The Circe Saga, and The Underworld Saga
@@lilyahlquist.l1346 tends to be the minority in the right. not most Yes people fail to see the same in other's actions, but they also overlook the absence of it in their own - that's what we call rationalisation, acting first and looking for a reason to justify the stance afterwards, not whether it's justifiable, only looking how to justify The minority who are justified, generally are pretty aware, because they've been through it a dozen times over
You know something I love? Is that Jorge is growing a beard just like Odysseus in his long journey, he’s going through the creation of these songs and time passes on.
As far as i'm aware they do I do my best to avoid killing sentient monsters in the witcher three game, Like I think I messed up in the bloody baron's storyline. So he's gonna end up hanging Himself and I feel so bad. Because I did the same thing my first playthrough
Get goosebumps at the Troy part every time bro. This was the first thing of Epic I saw and now I’m hugely invested in it all and rooting for it all the way.
All of these start with the motive of "protection" but end up with horrific endings. Just like when the knight defeating the evil dragon eventually becomes one....
um, no? Odysseus sharpened and hardened the mast of an old shipwreck in Polyphemus' cave using the embers of the fire that the cyclops had earlier used to cook some of Odysseus' men
@dontlookhere In the odyssey by Homer which is what this is based off of when Odysseus said his name was “nobody” to polythemis so when he was getting attacked he would yell “ nobody is attacking me!”
@@dontlookhere Maybe there's been several translations/interpretations about that b, they may not be wrong about what they heard, the Iliad and Odyssey weren't even books at first, but oral tales to be sung in theatres, it was officially written well after (historians beleive it was between 8th and 6th BC), so even the books we have could be wildly different from the original (translations are always losing a bit of information from one language to another) and the even older oral ones.
Epic is literally just my background at this point, 😅. I waited so long to listen to the underworld saga, but in the last 2 weeks I've heard it more times than I can count.
Yeahhh I’d definitely have to say he was more of a villain than a hero though. He murdered thousands (and even murdered hundreds more after the war so his men could have women slaves) just so one guy could have his wife back from one Trojan (who, mind you, the rest of Troy disagreed with. They wanted the wife returned as well.)
When he reflects on himself he thinks he’s too weak but we you hear the thunder saga it ends up being that he’s too much of a monster…it hits and hurts
@@jojohills3426this song is called monster, but it’s the last song of Act 1. I would recommend starting from the beginning. The order of the sagas are: Troy Saga, Cyclops Saga, Ocean Saga, Circe Saga, Underworld Saga. Keep in mind that this musical is still releasing, and act 2 has not started yet.
@@jojohills3426 it's part of the musical "Epic: The Musical" and IN that musical, it's part of "The Underworld Saga" (the musical is divided into sagas) and IN that saga, the song is called "Monster" just search up "monster epic the musical" and you should find it.
Quick resume of all of this: everyone has a reason to do what they do, not always just evil ... But yes infact there is evil people still, its just way more strange than we all think
Gahhh it hurts so much that circe sent him to the underworld to help him because she saw kindness in him. She believed in him and yet he returned fully with monster ideology 😭
I love it I love This I love it all It is perfection I love it it is all the kind of song i have ever wanted, mythology. Thank you. Thank you for the song. Thank you for This immense Joy TO hear such a masterpiece
This song reminded me of One of My BBEG's final words in a dnd campaign said it best, "nows not the time to grow a heart, I will lead this kingdom to greatness or see it burn to ashes by my hands" and after one painfully long fight through the burning kingdom that was actively under siege by undead those final words hit my players hard....
There is a time for morals and a hope for a better tomorrow. Yet hose hopes are grown in the ashes left behind by the battles of those who had no time to decide before the onslaught was upon them. For now fight so that there may be time to contemplate amongst the living.
This is the first short I saw of this music and ever since it has been so inspiring on my singing journey, thank you so much Jorge, i appreciate more than you could imagine.
I love art that challenges everything we know. Immediately subscribed. I love seeing things that make me think and this one definitely put things in a different perspective. Absolutely masterful work.
This is actually a musical and is an adaptation of the Odyssey. It is called Epic the musical and is not fully released, is releasing in EPs called sagas. Act 1 just wrapped up last month, and we will get more sagas soon (hopefully). I would recommend starting from the beginning. In order: Troy Saga, Cyclops Saga, Ocean Saga, Circe Saga, Underworld Saga (this one).
When Odysseus tells Polyphemus that his name is "No man" so Polyphemus said "No man Blinded me" had me rolling on the floor for ten minutes. I'm not sure if that is displayed in "Epic" or not but I read a book of Greek Myths which was just a bunch of Mythological stories but all time favorite scene has gotta be that one 😅
