Going into freshmen year (2019) I was throwing low 80s from the stretch and could probably touch mid 80s in a short amount of time, just got into lifting and working out and stuff. Made a select showcase team as a pitcher to play a tournament somewhere on the east coast when covid hit. Tournament got canceled obviously, but got absolutely slammed by medical mumbo jumbo and by the time I recovered fully it was 2 years later, still throwing around the same as I did freshmen year but I kind of lost the love for playing the game trying to play through a season before we knew how messed up I was. Went from 6' 235 to 6' 165 in a year, and being unable to throw 2 pitches consecutively without almost fainting can really take it out of you. Still trying to get back on track, about to graduate in a few weeks and gonna let life take me wherever it ends up going :)

LA film school was my dream. My family wouldn't pay a penny though (dad couldn't afford it, mom and step dad were wealthy but his and her daughter was much more valuable. She's never had to work and has a 3 story house and 3 new cars to this day that she has never paid a dime for.) and I lived in Georgia. That lack of support crushed me for a very long time. 16 years later, I'm graduating with a degree in healthcare administration, having been a CNA in hospitals and nursing home for a decade. I have an AIT program position waiting making almost 3 figures. I'll make more than my step dad and mother combined in ~5 years. Idk why I said all this but I did. Lol. Also, I haven't received any help from them at all since high school. Not that I would've gotten it. Having 2 little kids and a wife is what finally gave me the motivation. Don't give up people

Feel this. I was the only freshman in my high school to start on both varsity baseball(primary C, split start 1B and hockey rosters(Goalie). Had more D1 scholarship offers than i could keep track of, but i played through a torn ACL in hockey state championship winning 1-0 and did a ton of damage to my knee. I ended up needing pretty much 18 months of recovery(set back in PT). Ended up calling all the schools and telling them i wasnt taking anybodies offers(after taking an east coast college tour for the experience😅🤷‍♂️) i lost the commitment that wouldve been required of me to perform and compete at that level.

Dude, we have such a similar story! Minus the RU-vid thing. I played baseball (RHP) and was up to 85mph my freshman year and by my Senior year I was touching 90mph. I got an offer to a PAC-12 school and enrolled. I got hurt that summer and needed elbow surgery. Not Tommy John. It was Microscopic surgery where they have to clean stuff out and shave down a bone spur. I also took a Post Grad year and I went to IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. This was back in 2012 before they were the powerhouse in everything like they are now. It was fun. Got to play with people like Max Foody (Top 5th round pick for the Cardinals), Cameron Varga (Round 1 Comp pick by the Rays), and even Brady Aiken was there (former 1st Overall pick and then he was drafted Top 5 the next year I believe). After I left IMG I had to enroll at a CC before going back to the school I had a scholarship with. And by this time, after getting hurt, having surgery, rehabbing, building up strength and then being told I had to go to a CC. Plus the fact I was only throwing mid-80’s again. I was just burnt out and I didn’t love playing the game anymore. So I spent the next summer staying at IMG and helping out with their digital media and marketing team as like an intern. And I’m born and raised in LA. So I freaking went to LA Film School also! What year did you graduate? I’m class of 2018. I got a job working for NBCUniversal out here in LA working in Production finance. That’s so crazy dude. I couldn’t believe how much our stories were similar. But glad to see you’re doing well. I had a similar route. I’m left handed and My freshman year of high school I was up to 81, with a lingering knee injury. Sophomore year I was up to 84-86 but got shut down for a knee surgery, which included screws and bone grafts from other parts of my body. Junior year I was sidelined yet again with the same issue ON TOP of a knee sprain. Doctor told me the screw in my knee was coming out, and it needed to be removed. Got shut down for another knee surgery and never got back to doing what I loved. I enjoy it with my high school teammates and they kept pushing me to join again but my body just won’t let me. Ayy, baseball can have one thing that either makes or breaks you. For me it happened to be the opposite of what happened to you. Last year as a 14 yo I was throwing 62, inconsistent pitching and hitting wise, and was on my way to quit baseball. However, I found the program run by Tucci lumber which is a baseball bat company that makes bats for players like Xander Bogaerts and Bo Bichette, and they fixed me. They inspired me to work out, practice every day, but mostly have fun and enjoy the path. And tbh I think that is what matters the most; if film making made you happy when baseball started getting harder for you, then that is what you should do (and obviously what you did do). Now I’m going to be like you, and as a 15 year old I am going to work my butt off, but only can pray that injuries don’t strike me. I now throw 74-76 and have touched 78, so I’m only climbing up. This video inspires me to pursue what I love and hope to go far with it. God bless your choice and hope you succeed in life!

I was a catcher that got way overused for my high school and travel team. I had to have surgery in 2020 which sucked and played my senior year in 2021 though I wasn’t fully 100% but did it because I wanted to play so bad. Had a good year at the plate hitting .426 but catching wise I did decent. Not the throw down I used to have but good enough to play

Had a teacher in middle school was a pitcher all through school and threw 88 at 16, he went to a Philly tryout just for the heck of it and some of the scouts saw him pitching and were saying that “ if you keep going on this route you have a great chance at going to the big leagues” but then when he was a junior he injured his elbow and his pitching went down hill from there, he went to college but his pitches just got worse over time and he became an art teacher. I miss him as he was an amazing guy he just didn’t have luck on his side.
