Cyril is my favourite player and I was gutted to hear about his retirement but wow, what a career! I made this video using info from websites & RU-vid Clips. I'll try and link them all below.

As a cats fan he did break a few cats fans hearts when he was on fire kicking bags of goals he was a great player and an all time great probably one of the best indigenous player as well

Sad day not only for hawks fans but all footy fans. Probably the most exciting player I have ever seen, one of the very few players who can be BOG with less than 15 touches. Legend!

What this man has done for his People, for my People, for the game of Aussie rules, and for the human relationship in Australia is nothing short of outstanding. A true legend of the game. A true legend in the company of his People. A true legend of Australia. A real, gentle man. One of the top three all time greatest exponents of the game. Magic. His actions are memorialized in film. His magnificence will be viewed for millennia to come!

His Uncle Maurice (more consistent) was probably better (just my opinion) but Junior Boy, is also my favourite, as much as I love SILK. Me, I am Hawks. Alays sad Junior Boy gets 12-13 good touches HAWKS win!

I'm happy he kept the pen he used to sign my hawthorn jumper in 08 he said I was the first person he saw wearing 33 because of him and he wanted to keep the pen.

The day Cyril Rioli retired every other team in the AFL breathed a sigh of relief, even watching these tapes you knew he was a one of a kind champion who brought the magic to the game week in week out.

Geez...I've been so lucky. As I watched this package I realised I saw most, almost all, of these highlights in person. What a career Cyril had. So pleased he played for the greatest club in the AFL....you all know which club that is. Hands down, no argument needed....the Mighty Fighting Hawks!!!

Yeah that and Cyril takes a special and goes BANG! what player takes a screamer lands on his feet takes of sells the dummy and slames it through! Any other player would of not even considered playing on after a hanger with opposistion right near him but to then sell the dummy greatest Cyril moment for me! People keep damning him with faint praise. Why call him one of the greatest indigenous players of all time? Nobody ever refers to Jim Stynes as one of the best Irish players of all time or Leigh Matthews as one of the greatest white players of all time. Cyril was simply the best. Can you think of another player who could compile such a highlight reel? I can't.

What really hurts is the rumors / claims of racial remarks that hurt him & apparently caused his early retirement . While nobody should be subject to any form of racism, Cyril Rioli was one of the best AFL players of all time, his ability to keep on his feet after a tackle & the little 1 per centers that he did was just nothing short of brilliance. Thank you Cyril for the wonderful memories & all of your efforts on the field that helped the hawks to win three flags in a row. You are not just brilliant on the field but also off the field, you where a huge encouragement to all Aboriginal people, you are a man of integrity & humility a true legend.
